It's amazing how people go crazy hearing trombone shorty growing up in New Orleans we heard this stuff on a regular basis I remember the first band I play in trombone shorty mom had us all playing with his brother 12 and cousin Glenn Andrews the All Star Brass Band right in the Milton Court in the 7th ward I miss does days

Hey I grew up in white-anglo potato-tobacco territory with crappy bar bands doing crappy rock/country covers. I'm screwed for life trying to play anything hip.

ET EN PLUS, SHORTY fait merveilleusement écho au film GÉNIAL de Spike LEE , avec Denzel WASHINGTON, "Mo'Better Blues" que je viens de voir tout récemment.
On ne peut s'empêcher de penser à ce film qu’incarne admirablement Denzel WASHINGTON dans le personnage de "BLEEK", un trompettiste de GÉNIE ... COMME SHORTY !
MAIS LA RÉALITÉ ICI DÉPASSE LA FICTION. : on croie rêver avec SHORTY, tant il nous subjugue !
Il a TOUS les "DONS" : il est béni des Dieux !

Just saw him live in Chicago. Their musicianship/showmanship is incredible. The crowd was into it whereas this one needs respirators. I also like his last two recording: For True and Parking Lot Rhapsody.

It's funny that he keeps speaking French because Basel is German-speaking. My cousins live 15 minutes away in France, though, and if we were there, we would definitely be dancing down front.
they speak a lot of French in New Orleans so it's probably like second nature to him

Agreed. I'd like to think of myself as being a bassist with a very funky style. Especially with me coming from a place like the southern coalfields West Virginia. Which is a place NOT known for it's funk. Lol.

Everyone in that band is competent, but it wouldn't be what it is without that drummer. This is one of those bands you must see live. The albums are awful IMO, and even live recordings like this don't quite capture it.
you are right, their albums, unfortunately, never fully captured their power, sound, wildness and diversity. definitely one of the most enjoyable bands live period
I love their albums but their shows are definitely better. Their 2017 Jazz Fest show was the best concert I've ever seen.
