One of the most exciting things to see in wrestling is a good return. Think of something like Triple H coming back from his quad tear in 2002, John Cena surprising everyone with his Royal Rumble appearance in 2008, or CM Punk debuting with AEW in 2021 if you need any examples of this. Unfortunately though not all returns are created equal and so some go in the opposite direction, flopping spectacularly in the process. But what are the biggest examples of this? Well let’s find out today by doing a deep dive into the whole topic, and where better to start than with the time The Outsiders hit WWE shores in 2002.

Too be honest around that time, the likes of Maxxine Dupri and Chelsea Green was practically out shining her, WWE were already high on the likes Zoey Stark. So it seem like their was no available room for her, when at best she was jobbed to likes Ronda. Ronda really put a wrench in many womens development since she and Wwe knew she was leaving so they forced a storyline between her and shayna just because ronda only wanted to put over her

@@LadyAbsolution I think the problem was that most important matches he had in his run involved him losing or never winning something important, in the money in the bank he failed to get the briefcase and his WWE title match against Seth Rollins resulted in a disqualification, so it wasn't bad, but it wasn't as meaningful
Gail Kim did do the right thing with returning to TNA. WWE never seemed to know how to use her.

Actually, Kurt's return in 2018 wasn't all that bad. We got DX and Shield Kurt, Triple H and Stephanie vs Kurt and Rounda rousey (Which surprisingly turn out to be a good match) etc..
I feel like his final match aganist Corbin damaged the reputation of his return. Obviously, The fans wanted him to face guys like Cena, Styles or Joe to cap off his career.
Kurt also wanted to face Cena at WM35 but he told that since he was in a program with Corbin for months Vince wanted him have the match with Corbin.

I'm a big fan of Dexter Lumis. His marriage to Indi Hartwell was probably the best wrestling marriage ever. Really hope he finds footing in the WWE.
Still what’s the point of bringing him back? Right now, Lumis has been a ghost and hasn’t done anything on the main roster after his feud with The Miz was a dud.

They really did Dexter Lumis dirty when he returned. He has a great look and a great gimmick and dropped him in that awful storyline with Miz and they haven’t done anything with him since

Kurt Angle’s return in 2017 was very cool. He was inducted into the HOF, RAW GM and was on the RAW Survivor Series team and teamed with Rollins and Ambrose as an honorary member of The Shield. But for his retirement match at WrestleMania 35 was disappointing because he face Baron Corbin
Given how beat up he was in 2017 the run was as good as it gets bar the retirement tour and Corbin match.
I vehemently disagree. Think Kurt Angle’s second WWE stint was a blemish on his otherwise stellar career. He did far too much pandering to the audience and relied on “playing the hits”. That’s not what he’s about and it’s not what makes him great. I wish he could have a do-over on that. His first stint and his TNA run were far too goated for that nonsense we got

Bfab has just recently aligned herself with Bobby Lashley. Emma was a total waste because WWE did her wrong twice.
Ronda Rousey failed herself. She was never good in the ring. People failed to understand that. She was a female Goldberg. Overhyped with lack of in ring skills and mic skills. But atleast Goldberg has respect for the business and has achieved more success than Ronda. And HOF? Are you joking? What makes her career HOF worthy? Because she was one of the first females to headline WrestleMania. Or because she won 3 titles (1x Raw Women's champion, 1x SmackDown Women's champion & 1x Women's tag team champion). WWE pushed her for publicity and nothing more. Sad how better wrestlers had to jobbed to her.

The thing that bothers about about wrestling getting a strong presentation due to their age is that, that it's never enforced, heck Ric Flair was in his 50s in the 2000s and he was still being presented insanely strong, so there's really no excuse how they treated Mickie James in the late 2010s

His return was one of the very best, I mean yeah some people didn't really like his story following the return but it was cut short due to what happened after so you can't really say it's a failure imo. And it was also LA Knight's first big feud on the main roster.

Like Adam Blampied did a video on PartsFunKnown on how WWE should book Uncle Howdy and it's way better than what we got but part of the reason is because the Uncle Howdy storyline we got was bad. I mean first Bray Wyatt isn't Uncle Howdy, then he is, then he's not and is supposed to be feuding with Uncle Howdy, then out of nowhere he and Uncle Howdy are on the same page. It sucked that Bray Wyatt died before it paid off however at the same time the payoff probably would have sucked. Also LA Knight shouldn't have been involved, it should have been Bray Wyatt, Uncle Howdy, Braun Strowman, and Alexa Bliss. Maybe Karrion Kross, Nikki Cross, and Dexter Lumis because they were rumored to be a part of the Wyatt Family 6/Firefly Fun House characters brought to life but LA Knight shouldn't have been involved because he never had a supernatural gimmick. Now if that was done after the Uncle Howdy storyline ended with Bray Wyatt, Uncle Howdy, and the Wyatt Family 6 targeting different superstars and one of them is LA Knight then that's fine because that's what Bray Wyatt did with John Cena at WrestleMania 10 years ago and he had a reason to but he didn't have a real reason to feud with LA Knight.

Well Gail Kim, if i remember correctly, publicly said "i would rather still be in TNA" when news broke she signed with WWE. She revealed she only signed cuz of the money.

Swerve lost tonight but Hangman was going to make sure he didn't win so it made sense. Swerve will be champion by the end of the year and I can't wait for it. Don't know how WWE let this guy slip away. He is so great.

Emma's Return to wwe was very bad. That Match she had with Ronda Rousey for the smackdown women's title was 😴. She deserved better
Emma's biggest problem was that many WWE fans don't actually pay attention to the Indies or TNA, so when most people see her, they instantly see Jobber Emma. Another reason was that she just wasn't that big of a star to begin with, sure she had a good run in TNA with an entertaining team with Madison Rayne, but she failed to capture the top prize and was really just a good mid card act at best so the few who had payed attention to her thought she wasn't a big deal.
I loved the Dexter Lumis character. The feud with the Miz was far more entertaining to me than Hogan vs. Andre.

The same thing happened for Mustafa Ali. He was scheduled for a match against Dominik for the NXT North America championship but was released before the match

Hit Row’s biggest problem was that Vince had no faith in Swerve Strickland and wanted Flop Dolla to be the leader and star of the team when he demoted them to the main roster.
Dexter is awesome and I'm really hoping that he shows up in TNA or something. WWE seriously wasted him.
Gail Kim's story is frustrating. She said they would change rules every week like banning kicks and then randomly bringing it back.

Shane Strickland/Isaiah Scott was heart and soul of Hit Row. Without him, they were simply destined for doom. Just as simple as that.

I understand making your younger names look good, but you also have to make your veterans look good so when the younger names beat them it means something.
No one wants to beat up an old washed up veteran because it does nothing for anyone, you want to beat the veterans when they are still on top because it makes the younger names look good.
Kurt Angle on the other hand was a completely different issue when he returned in 2017, he legit couldn’t go in the ring anymore, and I find that bizarre because the last time I saw Kurt Angle wrestle was in TNA in late 2013 and he could still go in the ring, so what the fuck happened in those 4 years?. By late 2017 he could be barely move the poor guy.
I think Kurt Angle should've called it quits around 2014/2015 as that I think was when he could no longer go in the ring anymore.
Legion of Doom (Road Warriors) return to WWE in 2003. They decided to no-sell Kane and RVD's offense and were never seen again.

By far the worst return in history was Terry Gordy's return in the 90s as The Executioner, even though almost nobody realized it was him as he wore a mask. This came after he suffered a massive stroke that left him with serious mental problems, which also eventually lead to his untimely death.
The issue with Emma is she can’t talk on the mic, she doesn’t have a connection with the crowd and she’s not that charismatic of a character

Gail Kim's first run in WWE from 2003-2004 was awesome Especially when she won the women's title in her first match in that battle royal that was great that was better than her second run she was great in TNA especially when she was managing AMW and becoming the first TNA knockouts champion at bound for glory 2007 that was such an amazing moment her second wwe run was awful.
It was great that H brought back Dexter, and there was a lot more that could be done with the character and many fan's myself included wanted to see Index comeback. But sadly they brought him back with no real plans for him, so I blame the writers and H for doing thing with him. Emma is another one that through no fault of her own "failed", again H brought another star back with zero plans to do anything with them. Ronda again I blame WWe, instead of learning from their mistakes the first time they again threw her in to the mania event. They should of done what they did with Shayna and build her up before hand. Carlito is another one, they brought him back and did nothing and made it feel more like a one off to push LWO and nothing more. Now his back again, and is doing better but still they should be doing more and book him better.
