Anything Goes with James English Ep/119
Andy Flute, talks about his struggle to overcome a myriad of life-long challenges with violence and alcohol. For over 30 years, violence and alcohol were Andy's daily bread until, one day, by the power of prayer, he managed to achieve what no amount of alcohol or prison incarceration could ever achieve. When he was at the point of death, intoxicated with alcohol following a ten-day binging session, I went to see my old mate and prayed for him with Pastor Steve. Andy was fighting the demon of alcohol and he was on the ropes, down for the count. Andy, a former captain of the English boxing team and British Middleweight title challenger alongside sparring partner Chris Eubank and other world class fighters, knew what brutal fighting was all about. This fight was different, one he couldn't win on his own strength. Andy felt the intense grip and destructive downward spiral alcohol had on his life. Battered and bleeding, with no more strength, he cried out to Jesus. In a truly miraculous turnaround, Andy found Jesus in his corner and almost instantaneously gave up alcohol.

It always makes me so happy to see people talking honestly and openly about their alcoholism. Alcohol doesn’t discriminate, anyone can fall into it. Just like my Dad I ended up an alcoholic even though I swore to myself that I would never be like him. Sadly the disease killed him. I’m so grateful to soon be celebrating 8 years of sobriety. Thanks for your honesty Andy, keep up the good work! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Inspirational stuff!. Andy is from the era of Boxing I grew up watching,he boxed the cream of the crop, and he held his own against them despite having the issues he had.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ you've changed your life mate. In part cuts stopped your dreams of being a British champion (and possibly world), and the blood of Christ took away your addiction and sins. Instead of championship gold Andy awaits golden crowns in heaven.
I seen the power of God in my life, my dad like Andy has battled and overcame addiction by the grace of our Lord. It's not easy, but the walk with Jesus is worth it!.
Big up James too. My dads subscribed to the channel now too lol.

Andy's story resonates with me because I boxed in the pros I was good enough to spar with lads who were world-class like the late African warrior Charm Chiteule and many others. I also had a predilection for the drink which is not healthy if you are a pro sportsman in any sport let alone the toughest sport. I could not sell tickets had other problems going on so packed it in.
Funny enough the fact I had boxed opened up other doors for me, I trained to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist then moved back into Pro Sport strangely I learned how to create the experiences we want to have and I ended up working with Graham Taylor at Watford, a year after Glen Catley one of Andy's hold opponents was working at Crystal Palace we were both doing the same thing Sports Psychology. With me I moved into working in pro golf and athletics then I switched jobs entirely and started teaching chess in schools which I consider to be my dream job and I did that for 19 years until this COVID bollocks brought it to an end.
I still drink but I am not dipsomaniac I can go weeks and months without drinking so I would not claim to be an addict.
I do have a strong interest in Consciousness, Near Death Experiences, Neurology, Quantum Physics and one for Andy, Gnosticism.
One night about 16 years ago I had fallen asleep reading a book, I am a self-confessed bibliophile and in the middle of the night I heard my name being called, it sounded like someone calling to me underwater, I was dreaming or so I thought, opening my eyes expecting to see my Son standing there I saw this being, everything happened so fast, I jumped out of bed, the being was jumping back and dematerialising before my eyes it turned into an orb and shot through the ceiling.
At the time I was engaged in tempestuous polemics about God and I was reading a book called Time Storms which may have had a bearing on the experience. I was experiencing what Carl Jung the Swiss Psychiatrist/Pasychoanylts and fellow Gnostic termed Cataclytic Externalization Events which some people would relate to poltergeist activity around the house and when this happened when visitors were present it scared the hell out of them.
I have become friends with British Consciousness research Anthony Peake and he suggests the Being I saw that night was my Daemon meaning my higher self.
It was intriguing I am not keen on a return. I chalk it up to another interesting life event and am totally convinced that we have all been created, indeed I knew that at the age of 6 and I am now 60.
Good luck to Andy with his new mission I will get the book and well done to JE for providing us with another great podcast its all pabulum for the soul.

I’m not into God, but I believe that if it works for you then great.
But what a special bloke he is, fair play to him.
    Much respect. 🙌🏽

Comes across a top class bloke. Sounds like he beat himself with the boxing could of been a world champ. Guy deserves all the best good forward

Don’t know Andy personally, but know of him having more or less coming from the same area, I knew he’d turned to drink n drugs but not to the extent he explained. Wish he’d touched more on the stories he said he didn’t want to put in his book, so then it puts the rumours you hear on the road to bed. Like a lot of your other guests ie Marvin Herbert they don’t leave nothing out. Looking forward to the next interesting guest 👊🏽
