- Discovering The Remains Of Buxton Steam Engine Shed Part 1
In this two part video I travel to Buxton in the Derbyshire Peak District armed with my 1965 Ian Allen - British Locomotive Shed Directory and go looking for what remains of Buxton's Old LNWR Steam Locomotive Depot which was closed by British Rail in March 1968 and demolished very soon afterwards.

Lower Darwen steam shed site is an interesting and rewarding exploration, I used that edition of the Ian Allan Shed Directory when I visited in 2022!
Great video! Stream running in the snow always makes a good photograph
Merry Christmas 🎄 Sean,
Thank you! Oh Yeah and imagine if you could back to the last days steam in snow with modern day sound recorder Because love sound of big freight engine slipping

Part 2 should be hopefully out in the new year.
Did you watch my Lostock hall steam shed Video?
Your usual high standard of video, interesting and informative, thanks TE
No worries Alan This Video got delayed long time because of extra Information coming in and working out I had too much content for one Video so decided make into 2 videos instead so my Patreon supporters have seen so many stages of the edit hehe
Around 20 years ago the pits were still very much easy to locate as they were full of water and we used to collect the frog spawn. Its only in that time since they have been filled in and the trees have grown to what it's become now. I bet I can still locate where the pits are now.
Very enjoyable TE, thanks. Looking forward to Pt. 2.
Glad you really enjoyed Part 1 was such pleasure to make and edit for you guys part 2 will be along shortly
Really enjoyed that myself and lee went on holiday to buxton couple of years ago ..didnt know bout the sidings .. cos we went walking the hills and the monsal trail so thanks for enlightening us ... we look forward to part two mate.... regards Frank & Lee ... Lanky Walks....
Yeah buxton so many layers of history once get behind the brickwork there's lot walking to be done up that end of buxton where shed is very much in wilderness. Part 2 will be along in New Year.
Gradely vlog TE. Keep 'em coming!
I'll try William lots content going on patreon as you know already just matter of thinking and making videos everyday.
So sad to see and wish I has a time machine. Used to bash 10D and 10A onaltermate weeks with 10B almost daily. Remember steam so well although no that old. For future TE specials what about Foxfield and Coniston railways Hodbarrow mines and the extension of the Lakeside line to Plumpton. Thankyou and Happy Xmas
Merry Christmas 🎄
Cameraman oways talks about having time machine going back with money he had now and too see steam again. Foxfield and Coniston Line is part my childhood I went School in Coniston and walked the line for years oways thought one day could do something on here never knew it might be Video on Thomas Edward Channel but it will come in future but as you know when your local you don't go to your local towns or villages you end up travelling out of Cumbria hehe
Lakeside line to Plumpton have you not heard me mentioning that in past Videos I've already kinda started filming that.
Fantastic T E .... used to drive all round peak district you see sad empty remains of old missing tracks.... where I'm working now near rugby I'm working on old abandoned track driving up and dropping off loads in field you try to imagine those heady days of what smells sounds and sights off steam that was actually running along long gone tracks.....
Looking forward to part two stay safe T E and if i don't forget ... all of you family friends and excellent camera man.. have a great xmas and new year ...... Neil

Merry Christmas 🎄
"Gold Always believe in TE!!"
Hey up TE, I didn't see you there, must have missed the live. Sorry mate.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Yeah we had lot problems that night this went live so many people didn't get the notification but remember times for tonight is 8pm and 10pm 24th dec
Cracking vid as usual. Very intersting. Lots of rail related stuff up that neck of the woods with all the quarries. Nice class 66 in maritime colours.
Merry Christmas 🎄 Glad you enjoyed it!
Guessing peak district your stomping ground on road isn't it?
Loads we could do around Derbyshire.
@@ThomasEdward it was, until the police put average speed cameras on the cat and fiddle. Do quite a bit in the wagon going over to chesterfield and we go to bradwell quarry quite often. My mate works for the HSE and he was showing me there facility just outside buxton, very interesting place, you can see it from the road and its london tube trains.
1:10 I'm sure I've seen this view before, in a Don Coffey cab ride video?
Merry Christmas 🎄
You probably have he dose lot around peak district I think?
I think Railway Brick was double fired to give it strength and longevity, so that's why it's a blue colour me thinks ?
Merry Christmas 🎄 Chris,
Yeah! Your right like with that but I oways like believing the brick dose get nice coating of soot from years of steam.
Yes I've always thought that when I see black sooty deposits on the tunnels and bridges on the routes out of Liverpool Lime Street that I drive over !
Merry Christmas TE 🎅 🎄
The reason trees grow on disused railways is because the ash is a natural fertiliser and helps the plants to grow.
That's new one to me I got once told off other fella that the carriages moved seeds around and I still believe oil is factor too Because been around old oily scrap yards plants love it. But everything could be feeder to them growing. Hope you enjoyed the Video?
Great video Thomas, love your content. I have done things like this and its great. You would be my perfect boyfriend, not what you want to hear as I am a bloke 😄 but love ya man.
