i would LOVE to meet this man. it blows my mind that he was 17 at guadalcanal. when i think of the nonsense i was busy with at 17............

Sid you were not a nobody private in the last rank. I used to teach my students in a Marine school that the entire Marine Corps revolved around the accomplishment of the mission by that private with a rifle .Semper Fi

I just met Sid the other day, and he's by far one of the nicest individuals that I have ever met! Needless to say I was a little star struck because it just so happens that 4 men from Easy Company (YES, that Easy Company!) were sitting right next him! It was a very humbling experience being surrounded by so many heroes and if anyone ever gets a chance to meet them or any WWII vet for that matter, open your minds and learn what you can from them because eventually they will all be gone forever!
