I've said it before and I'll say it again, Brian, you are an excellent teacher. Thank You TP
“The curb just got us” lol. Perfect teaching though!
Hi Brian.
Love your channel, I’ve been a builder for 40 years in Australia but I now think that I chose the wrong profession. So drawn to your painting. Never too late to change careers, you make it so interesting and informative.
Well done mate!!!
When Spring arrives I need to do quite a bit on my EK. Thanks for the "How to..." and the inspiration.
" The curb just got us" lol, I think you got the curb.
Brian you're a natural teacher!! I just bought a few items off your list to touch up my car. Thanks for an informative video!
Man I’m from the uk and never stop watching your shows loving this, you’re a clever guy with fantastic calm and excellent explanations. Keep up the good work. 🔥🤙
Always delivers!! Coach T doing great work.💪🏽😎
Great little complete demo !!
Thanks Brian - nice job
Very nice garage repair. Thank you.
Great video. Nice to know about the uv putty, really helps move the project along.
I think you just solved a problem I was having. Thanks Brian!
That respirator for the 2k is the key in all this! That stuff is brutal.
Another great video. Thanks Brian! 👏👏👏
More of this DIY... please, great work 👍
Brian always makes it look easy.
Brian elated with his own work. Deserved.
Man, this is a great video! There's a couple of young guys that were asking me about stuff like this last week. I'm definitely sending this video their way!
Thank you from the heart! You taught me a lot and i keep learning from you sir! Thanks again Brian
Nice job I started painting my own cars a bit ago and you are 100% correct that clear coat brand from the can is the only way the paint will shine. Any other kind of clear does not look good no matter how hard you try
Thank you so much for this video متشکرم از شما آقای محترم
Perfect timing for this content
That looks beautiful 😍
I love it Brian you are great I appreciate your time and efforts to help us be better technicians and dys thank you sir God bless we love you
As always Brian very very informative clear and precise makes me want to rush into my garage and get my spray gun out right away even though it’s freezing 🥶 wet and windy here in the UK ! Perhaps I will leave it for a couple of months, keep up the great work Brian absolutely brilliant as always 👍🏻😉
Looks great Brian
Really nice and always helpful. Big fan!
Keep it up!
Thank you!!
Great result.
Just sprayed a fever in my Benz with this method. Blended to the back of the fender flawlessly. Then cleared the entire panel. Thanks Brian!
Body work is Supreme! If I ever switch career it would be doing this
Great job!
This is a really cool channel Brian. I like especially how you use your Honda. Awesome stuff tbh tho really.
Nice work
Thank you!
Outstanding.
Great video!
looking good .
Nice work, the crane on the crane truck at work hit the back of the cab, not sure if I did it but I had borrowed it so I'm going to fix it, small ding and scratched some paint, uv putty looks nice, etch primer, Eastwood clear, should turn out fine, thanks
Great to see this. Prepping to repaint my Tsx engine bay but I’ve been on the fence.
Cant decide on a compressor setup and ideal for my spacing.
And definitely not confident using the 6 Gal pancake I have.
So deciding to use cans from the paint Store. Probably more costly this way to but I’d feel more confident.
Someone mentioned the 2k Pro max clear won’t hold up with heat the bays/Florida produces.
I've never seen that UV filler. Nice!!
Excellent tutorial
Glad you think so!
Hello from Croatia,nice job
Well I did learn something today after all 👍
Love this guy
Great video/advice 🫡
I must say i am impressed with how many product placements you achieved for a small bumper rash
I’m impressed that this is your best comment.
very well done Brian, the paint turned out great, but now i feel like the rest of the car would love a polish to match the shiny bumper XD. Thank you for all the information and keep up the great work.
When I use a cheap sander that doesn't have a speed adjustment I use a reastat I got from harbor freight to slow down the speed of the sander the slower the speed the better the sand and the longer the sandpaper last keep up the good work 👍
After watching your channel for a while now I feel confident I can paint my car. I've done the Plasti-dip with a sprayer years ago when I was younger and it turned out nice (for Plasti-dip). I am now working on a resto-mod C4 Corvette that needs a full paint job.
One quick question, I live in the northeast USA. When is the best time to paint, spring, summer or fall? I'll be using a inflatible outdoor paint booth that I can either place in a shady area or directly in the sun.
Finally thanks for the awesome videos.
😊good video
Great video.
Top job thank you 👌🏽
Thank you ❤
what filter do you use in your respirator? online results are pretty mixed for 2k clear
Excellent video, clearly detailed and everything explained.
Do you have a video on repainting a used plastic bumper? Clear coat is coming off mine so wanting to repaint it. Does all the paint got to come off? Does plastic primer need to be used or only on areas where the is no paint? etc. etc.
Niceee man!
Thanks!
Bryan in a HONDA... WOOOOTT!!! LOL
nice ride man and super nice repair!!!!!
You know it!
@@PaintSociety and you have it fitted up perfect which looks to be a factory hfp kit??!!!!
So the saving grace for those who don't want to go through all of this is the Eastwood 2K clearcoat or Spraymax 368 0061. It can make childrens finger paint look like a show car finish.
Lol no you still need all the prepwork or it wil still look like shit
Also u need a booth for 2k if ya don't the fumes r dangerous and also u will still get dust nibs
Info, good to know.
Great video. I purchased a cargo van that has several dents on the outside the van. Any way or video or suggestions to smooth it back out. I have no paint booth or garage any suggestions painting outside to keep paint free of dirty.
bravo😀
Great stuff! I have an engine compartment to redo with a couple bare spots from rust to prepare for sanding. How do you decide whether or not to primer and entire area/panel or just spot areas with primer like the bare metal areas? Would you primer the bare metal with epoxy and then seal the whole area or would you spot prime and then do what you did in this video sanding the existing painted surface to be refinished?
Love the channel. Will you do a video or do you have a video showing how to spray a car in a homemade booth or an outside situation? Your garage? Not everyone has access to a spray booth. Thank you
Hello Brian. Great videos! So PPG Envirobase, what's your take on it? I'm a Jeeper and would really like to see you paint a Wrangler. With all the exposed hinges, nuts and bolts.
Hi Brian, could you make a video on the best way to paint scrapes on lower edge of doors? Like when a door is opened over a high sidewalk. Here in the rust belt, rust quickly starts in this area if not repaired properly. Thanks
Gday Brian. always enjoy your videos. very informative and take the "Scare" out of painting at home.. question if I may. I am about to paint a classic mini. I won't be using 2K paint for 2 reasons.. 1. old cars don't look right with modern paints and 2 I can't spray 2K at home. I am using the old school paint called cellulose. have you ever sprayed with it ? if so do you have a video online I can watch ?
gday. First of all, thank you for your CZcams channel. I find your content is certainly helpful and makes me feel more comfortable in attempting to paint my car in my garage. as you say, it's only paint . I am currently in the process of sanding down a classic mini and will be painting it in cellulose lacquer. I know terminologies of words can change across the pond from the UK to the USA. I haven't found any videos on painting a car in cellulose lacquer paint. Can you tell me if cellulose is the same as nitro cellulose. any and all advice on using cellulose would be greatly appreciated. thanks again for the great videos
kevin
Great video with very easy steps to follow, well done!!!
One question, what Masking (Plastic) Film do you normally use/recommend? Thanks 👍
also, brand serial number yellow tape
Fabulous video, thanks for this.
I have an 2011 Acura with clear coat failing on the roof... have any videos on this? Can I scratch it up and 2k clear over it to patch it up for a few more years or does it need to come all the way down to paint, primer, or even bare metal?
Check out my video list. I have older
Videos on this and how to make it look better with out crazy painting
On a classic car all the brackets hinges ect should i epoxy or just rattle can rustoleum? or both?
I was really hoping to see you use some type of burn in for the clear
hi brian, is n95 mask sufficient enough to filter the 2k stuff?
Quick question, is there a best temperature for spraying? Cheers Tony.
Just trust the process!
What kind of vacuum hose reel is that? Do you have a garage tour video?
Etching primer is it good on rusted \sanded to bare metal panels????
Brian I'm new to the channel
Question what is a good air compressor I could use as a beginner to get good air pressure and that's less expensive?
do you think the UV Putty will work to fill in rock chips ? Then apply the touch up paint over that ? I go and look if you have any videos of taking care of rock chips
Love the videos man, thank you so much! I'm about to do the same on my car. Question, why not use a clear coat blender like UPOL #9 on the edge to blend it in? my repair area is the same size as yours but it's in the trunk so I wanted to avoid having to clear the hole trunk and just blend it in with something like UPOL. Would that work?
Clear the whole thing. Its much better
Brian I have a question. I want to paint the roof of my car black. The paint is perfect in every way, even ceramic coated. What would be the best way to prep this for paint?
Question: what causes the putty to bleed through the finish coat on a light color? Thank you.
@Paint Society, I would like to know how you would deal with metal flake that you add into the clear, what steps it would take to make it heavy flaked, and smooth in the end. I did a paint job that turned out ok but I'm not finding a lot of info on these types of things. Not sure if you have an email that I could just send you a better explanation there or pictures of the truck and finish
Hi Brian, why didnt you use adhesion promoter on the bare plastic? Genuine question as I’m no expert
You can but it was sanded with 320. If I had some I would have used it
@@PaintSociety thanks !
Have you ever used the spray max brand primers and any opinions on the brand? I believe it's made by usc
Please do a video about paint chipping 😭🙌🏽
I wanna know what size air compressor do I need to begin painting? I have a 2000 civic and wanna paint it but don’t know what size compressor to get
I want to paint the wheel moldings and the bumper the same color as the vehicle. What is the best way to proceed? It's a Ford Explorer.
I’ve been burned too many times using a DA to rough up the rest of the panel or bumper when doing a “smart repair”. It’s better imo to just use scuff pads around your 320 repair area before primer. That way you’re not making more problems
Looks great! Have any of your reps come by with the Car-Rep 2K stuff? It's pretty interesting, no bladder of hardener, but it is a 2K.
It's build into the can, it is punctured at the bottom if you watch
I have some I have to check out. Seems interesting
@@PaintSociety it is! We used some of the clearcoat and it worked very well.
Hi Brian: I always want to know when you back sanding with 600, are you just sanding the surrounding area but not the repair area? If the answer is yes, than why don't you just sand the whole thing with 600 since the primer is able to grip on 600 scratch anyway? Thank you
What polish are you using?
Will any etching primer work as a sealer or specifically the brand you've shown?
I have had great specific luck with this brand. Just make sure if you try don’t use a high build sell etch
What is your opinion of "ready-to-spray" quarts/pints of oem color products (i.e. paintscratch / automotive touchup / etc)
Good for small stuff like this or one panel
I'm really struggling blending the repaired area into the undamaged area. I get a weird overspray mess. How far away are you when you spray? I can't tell from the video.
In the older days when I worked in body shops we didn't have UV we used bondo. We would also prime and sand after the bondo until it was smooth and even. Then if we didn't need to paint the entire panel, we would spot blending. Can spot blending be used or does the entire panel require painting?? Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much. I will look at 3HP compressor and a 50L tank and three good spray guns. It's been years since I did this and oh how things have changed. I remember using 42lps pressure with acrylics, using thick primer for the fill coat after bondo and sand and prime then use a think coat of primer by adding thinner and knocking the top off. Then use prepsol and a thin first coat of paint first and at least two more color then top coat blender which requires 70lbs pressure and running back and forth to paint the side of a car. It ran notoriously if you didn't move fast.
Thanks, I would assume a bike gas tank would be the same method?
Yes but not spill gas on the clear. It wont hold up
Haahhaaaa the curb got it 😂
Hey Brian, have you ever light sanded metallic base to smooth the coat before clear? I've heard from some people to never sand metallic base but I've seen some people do it in videos so I'm a little confused.
You can sand it but you
Must always recoat. I chatted about this briefly in this video
Hello Brain, I’m painting a 1968 Pontiac firebird. It’s for my son. I’m at the last stage of painting. The clear coat. I’m using automotive art 4:1 clear. The problem I got in to is pin dots. On the roof and hood. The base is black excel auto body product # 701001. I did all the flash time between coats. Need feedback on what I can do or fix this problem. I laid down two coats of clear and then wet sanded the imperfections. The next step is clear. Any help will be appreciated.
1:21 - that tire…looks like the curb got your alignment too! 😮
The tires were flipped
@@PaintSocietyI’m just messin with ya….thank you for all the content, I’ve been watching and planning my first paint job based on your videos. Please keep up the awesome work!
