- This is our story of how we made our once abandoned project sailboat, our home.
Now as a young family sailing on our boat , we will be traveling and living full time on our sailboat Alma, an Ericson 41' 1969. It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but
4 1/2 years later, we made our salty dream of sailing our diy project boat come true.
Learning to sail and how to be parents all in one, this is a journey that we look forward to sharing with all of you!

Love this . It inspires me . I am 56 sold my house in nz in the middle of nowhere in a boring part . Was cool and off grid .. had my heart broken.. so bought a 1977 S&S steel sloop 62 feet . No experience no real $ and doing it . The people you meet and so on . It is enriching it’s scary and stressful at times . But living in a house with so called mod cons will numb you down . Most people only talk about realestate now . That’s not living . It’s living for a so called future . Well done I am

I am a Sailor of thirty years and grew up on the Oregon coast, subscribe to many sailing channels (100+) and your introduction was one of the very best by far, good luck.

You made the right decision to go when you’re young enough to enjoy it. I bought a 1985 30’ Newport 30 six years ago after eye issues meant I couldn’t keep flying. The idea was to get skilled at sailing and then upgrade to something bigger and head south. Then my very fit, fitness instructor wife had a devastating and unexpected stroke which brought everything to a grinding halt. She can finally go for day sails, but we’ll never cruise. Then there was nothing for years and I thought the project had overwhelmed you (because at that point you had a LONG way to go). So happy for you! Such perseverance! Amazing! Enjoy. congrats on the successful completion of the rebuild! Having done a complete renovation a few years ago on a much smaller sailboat (28' Pearson Triton built in 1959) I know what a mamoth task that is to undertake...cant imagine doing it on a 41' sailboat...your project must have been truly hurculean! Well done on seeing it through to beautiful completion! And welcome to cruising life! I now live on a 38' pilothouse sailboat in Alaska during the summer....would highly recommend the inside passage from Seatle to AK as one of your future cruising destinations (via Panama Canal!). Been watching from the beginning when you brought parts home in the Fiat...thought you guys threw in the towel for about two years but then - since I was still subscribed - this video came up! So glad you are back and still going for it! Boat looks amazing! Kind regards!
Thank you so much 😃 for sticking around for so long !!!!🤗 in some point for us was just hard to keep filming and working on such a massive project the time we had after our regular jobs was very limited every day and filming was taking a very large amount of time, it has been a very bumpy road but we persisted and alma finally got out of the yard we thank you again and looking forward to keep the videos coming and heard from you on the comments section 😃👍
Beautiful boat and a great refit. The only question I have is is the cockpit cover easily removable? I see some issues if you were to get into really bad weather. And I’m not trying to sound like a downer. Looking forward to more content. But don’t give up, just be safe.

James Adams Thanks James! We appreciate you looking out for is. The cockpit hard top is attached by 16 screws can be removed for hurricane storage purposes we have sailed in 30+ and despite been a non pleasant experience they hold up pretty good, we haven’t sailed yet in 40+ winds and if we are luck enough we will never have to shades are easily removable also they are able to slide on and off a track. We only put them up when we need shade and if weather is permitable, if nasty weather is approaching it can be taken off quickly. You dont sound like a down at all, we actually appreciate you looking out!

Robert-w Hi Robert! Happy to have you following. We did have a few videos from years ago but was not happy with the editing that was done then. We wanted to start fresh, first telling our story. In time we will keep improving with the editing as it’s a learning process. But it’s nice to hear you liked it!
We are a little ahead of videos, this was done because it takes me a while to edit since our baby is a full time job, I basically edit when she takes her naps.
