OVERNIGHT IN A HOT TENT IN DEEP SNOW

- I often get asked if I'm scared of wildlife. The short answer is no. At this time of year, I am not afraid, even when there is clear evidence that my tent is surrounded by animals. I am seeing lots of tracks around my tent. Some of the tracks look like they come from a coyote. Others look like they come from a mink or maybe a martin.
Some years there are next to no tracks around my tent, but for some reason this year, there are more than ever.
Join me for a night in the deep dark forest.
Jay, you have to setup a trail cam. It would be interesting to find out who you’re curious visitors are. Plus you could check the SD card while at the tent.
Yes such a great idea...then you can see who/what is lurking around 👍
I’ve been following your channel for a while now, Jay, and it’s so relaxing and comforting. Living in a large city, and a country where wild camping is overly restricted, I can only live vicariously through your shenanigans. Thank you man.
me also
He does such a great job with his videos.
@@craigbutler623 Couldn’t agree more. From the routine of lighting the stove, to awesome aerial footage and relaxing music. Very well done.
The sparkles are so pretty glistening on the snow ❄️❄️❄️
You know your business and how to behave in the wilderness. You face a challenge every time you go to your tent and that already needs a lot of courage. The wild world is never the same and that's what makes it so fascinating. Keep safe Jay 💕
Love this comment. Thanks, Anaiis. Jay
I feel refreshed after watching you complete your visit at your campsite ⛺️ Such a beautiful area!!!
Thanks for sharing!
As usual, I love your work. It is just so cool to spend time in the woods. In the cold. Your photography has gotten so good. The shots of the trees and ice were stunning. You in front of the stove and talking was so well done. I too enjoy being surrounded by wild animals. I live alone in the woods. Animals do not scare me. None of them do. People scare me. Stay happy.
Great shot on the snowmobile at the end. Beautiful scenery. Thanks Jay! Best regards
Hi Jay. I always enjoy your videos. Cool shot of going through the trees on the snowmobile there at the end. I also enjoy the drone shots. But the best part is seeing what you cook on that wood burning stove!
My husband and I really enjoy watching your videos. Glad to see you wearing real fur. There is nothing like the warmth of it. Keep putting these wonderful video out. Thanks
I love your way at looking at wild Animals you enjoy sharing the wilderness with them and let them live in peace it looks as if they wish you the same
what also gets me is your cooking! , it's great to watch! like a rogue cooking show, love it! and thanks for the tips, will deff have to try it out when im out there !
Jay, I love your channel. I daydream about weekends like this. Unfortunately it is illegal to camp in the woods in the Netherlands. Much love
geeez ,,poor you,,i would have to move ,,you should!
proably illegal in the UK too
@@deanmartin9358 in Scotland you can wild camp mostly anywhere.
Anywhere else is ok if you have land owners permission
@@heathergibson2108 yes I seem to remember that funny how we are the same island different rules
@@deanmartin6080 I bet a lot of people camp where they shouldn't though lol.
It's not as though people are out patrolling for illegal campers .
I suspect there's a lot of stealth camping going on .
.
The trick I guess is not getting caught.. me personally I'd rather go up to Scotland
The ambiance of your videos is spot on Jay. Nicely done . Yeah, the part I like the best when I go to my hot tent is to let the stove die and breath that cold air. I have a sleeping bag with a hoody and I put the hoody facing down on me and just keep a small opening for fresh air. Just awesome !! Thanks and take care
Very nicely narrated And that makes it interesting to watch
This the winter shows I watched just relaxing just a whole new way to chill loving it
I watched to the end. I truly enjoy watching your videos. Blessings, Mary
Thanks Mary. I hope you have a great week. Jay
Love seeing you enjoying it so much out there, Jay. Wish you would build (or have built) a two bedroom cabin out there for you and your family to enjoy for longer than one night at a time. I know you would probably absolutely love to spend an entire weekend, if not longer, out there. A nice, comfy, cozy cabin would definitely fit the bill. Great video, as always. Stay safe!
It's definitely a dream of mine that I'm not letting die. Thanks for commenting Karen. Jay.
Loved the opening scene, Jay. Added to the remote feeling of your location.
Another awesome video Jay!!! Peaceful and relaxing!!!
Thanks Jim!
Look at the diamonds in the snow. Beautiful!
a very beautiful place!
Again I had a great time watching your video! I would love to see your mysterious visitors. Thank you so much!
Awesome as always Jay.
Thank you for sharing and for all the hard work and time you put into your videos. They truly are amazingly awesome.
KEEP ADVENTURING
GOD BLESS YOU
🤗HUGS🤗
Great video again. Your breakfast was incredible looking. Show us some more video of you driving your snowmobile in-and-out the scenery is incredible
Thanks Harvey and thanks for the suggestions!
Wow you learn something new every time that's amazing hi Jay thank you for sharing
Hi Jay, thanks for loving doing what we love watching, in my country England we can not possible understand the temps you camp out in. We get to experience your amazing adventures through your brilliant videos not only do you cope with sub zero temps but have to contend with animals with big teeth that could be dangerous. keep up the wonderful vids and adventures Jay.
Here in Norway now is 4 g Celsius. All the snow smeltet. Tanks for a New fin video. 👍🌞
Had a stressful day today, I come home put some of your content on 👍 I am now healed, therapeutic, so relaxing, Thanks jay 💯😎 I also subscribed, enjoy your trip, moms are everything 💯
The night sky was amazing as the moon highlighted the puffy clouds. Such a peaceful place
i just love this shit. so chill. Winter is so cozy. Cheers from Minnesota.
I love the drone shot at the beginning of you coming into camp. Your supper looked good as always. 🙂🇨🇦👍👍⛺
I am always grateful to hear from you, Pat. Thanks, Jay
Very Very relaxing beautiful music video
I absoulety love your tent, you did an incrdible task in building this, very homey and so comfortable!! Always enjoy your videos!!
Love watching your videos Jay. Thank you for sharing
It's so awesome to see your channel taking off. I think i saw some videos with 500k + views. Congrats Jay.
I LOVE the sparkle of fresh snow!
Good stuff Jay.
I always enjoy your videos man.
Very relaxing.
Thanks, Floyd! Jay
Need a game camera Jay! Cheers brother! Jealous of your winter snow accumulation! Eastern Washington State USA is on the struggle bus
Yes, I think a game camera may be in order.
Jay, you were born in the wrong century. You would have fit right in with the mountain men/trappers 150 years ago. Love your videos and words of wisdom. Looking forward to your next one.
it is relaxing and comforting and with everything thats going on in the world its good to have time out watching videos like this 😊
Another great video....very nice to sit down with a drink after a hard day in the steel yard and just relax and enjoy ....thank you for the content again...keep up the great work.
Great vids! Maybe a video on how you set up at home before going to the tent. Then maybe an after a tent visit video. I'm always interested in the behind the scenes stuff. Maybe others too??? Either way great content. Keep up the good work.
Those burgers looked awesome Jay. Another enjoyable video.....thank you
Jay, my third video and I just love watching. Your approach and love for the outside and to the wild is great to see. Love your simpleness and humbleness. By the way, your food always looks fantastic. Thanks as always for sharing. Greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
The Lint fr a Dryer works, & so does a Marshmallow. Watching fr WV. in the United States. I love Canada cause it's just so Beautiful 💞👍🏼.
Another great vid. Ty. I think if you have good knowledge of your enviroment, well organised and show the proper respect for the wild life around you then there shouldn't really be anyting to be afraid of. And all that comes with practice and research. Thanks again for the great vid.
I agree. I know that area and the little trails around the tent and that helps with my confidence.
Ya Back Eddys is da best. We can buy here on the island now. Cheers from da ROCK!
I was afraid 😮and I enjoyed the video, especially when you were saying alone in the dark, deep in the woods lol.
"The animals minding their own business." That's funny, since you're all in theirs. That was cute. Be careful and do remember, you are in their face, not the other way around.
Any snack that has oils in it will light. Love your channel 💜💚
On the next episode of " How is Jay going to make me hungry!" lol. You look so relaxed there Jay. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Harold!
Watching your stuff makes me wanna go north, but I’m to skinny for the cold.
Enjoy
Awesome Jay great video 👍👍👍.
Another great video, Jay! Maybe you could set up a trail camera around the tent. You may get some surprising shots of the animals around the area!👍😁
Keep the content coming Jay we love seeing you camping in the extreme weather. I've made the sawdust firelighter with citronella oil! Works a treat! In the uk we call your wedges potato scallops, thinly sliced then roasted, deep fried or air fried. I loved the shot of your tent high up from the drone at night. Magic. Safe adventures to you buddy. 👍
Nice to see you again, my friend Jay you have been doing this camping for a long time, I think you're doing a great job, and you're keeping yourself while you're doing it
Lol the reward for big foot is much more than youtube... :-) keep up t h e great work!
Thanks! Will do!
@@jaylegere appreciate your time and effort! Ty
Good food! Nice video! ❤❤❤
Tripple condiment man!!! Love it.
Just needed BBQ sauce!
Love watching you camp. Also love my sweatshirt!
Awesome. I'm glad you love it. Jay
Jay, don’t ever stop playing your theme song. It’s so you!
I think but could be incorrect all your videos have been viewed by myself. Love to watch them. 🇺🇸🐻
Love it!!
You should put some game cameras up to see what's coming around boss of the swamp has a video on just game cameras. Luv the videos
That opening shot of you going into the tent and coming out with the light and it lit up the forest was so awesome! Oh and I'm surprised nobody has said use puffy Cheetos to start a fire! I use them to get my charcoal chimney started for my grill works every time
Generic version works even better! ;)
Great video, Jay!!!! Thank you sir!!!
Bridge
Thanks so much, Bridge!
You don't want an angry chipmunk Messing with you I love it Jay You gotta chuckle out of me🤣
Enjoy your videos. May the Lord bless and protect you
Well atleast it wasn't Bigfoot snooping around your tent.
You're killing it out there Jay. Making the food look so good. Tks for the effort you put in all the recent videos. It's been so great watching it from the start. You live and play in a great piece of country!
Thanks to this channel, I bought a chinook Beast, and its an awesome sleeping bag.
Good to here from you.🙃🙂😍🤩😜🥰🤗😉😄😃😃
Jay, glad you have this place to get away. I live in a larger rural area and it gets larger by the day. I grew up in the woods of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, and I have to be honest I desperately miss those days. Love the outdoors and really miss it here in SC. It's too hot for me most of the year down here, combine that with nearly tropical levels of humidity and it's a nightmare. Love the great white northern countryside. I am really glad your drone can manage being up in that cold in hover while you take those great shots. Being so cold I am surprised the battery and drone itself don't stop functioning. I am also happy you have a lady friend who like to occasionally come up and spend some time up there with you. I wish I could convince my wife to do some cold weather camping, but she is a 30 year+ resident of SC and hates the cold haha. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for this entertaining channel jay,I look forward to your posts every time.
@WalkerFarmFam. how do I do that
Glad to see another video. Enjoyed it
My mouth was watering with that meal! Keep it up Jay!
Jay, just awesome 👌 That food had me wiping my chin every 30 seconds . Stay safe out there brother, keep the eyes in the back of your head peeled at all times 👍
I’ve found myself really looking forward to your videos… What a beautiful part of the world you live in , harsh & stunning all rolled into one! … hope you rig a trail camera I think we are all dying to know what’s prowling around the tent 🙌😁
Love your vids your tent seems so cosy
Jay, definitely not a fox, as nit in a straight line. If it was coyote or wolf, there would probably be more as these are pack animals, for the most part. Plus, with the crisp cold night there, you should hear coyotes yelping or the howl of a woof. With the depth and softness of the snow, you would see signs of body drag if it was wolverine, unless it was bounding when the front and back paws would be together. I would nit be too concerned though. If the animal wanted something in the tent, they would definitely wouod have been in there when you were not around.
Take care.
Awesome videos!
A very nice video. Keep them coming.
As you know, you need to put a tree mount camera out there... would love to see what`s out there.
yes i mention that to jay a few videos ago a trail cam would be a great video
I had elk burgers for lunch this week. Tasty! Nothing beats wild game!
Would you be more worried if it was human footprints in the snow? Love the videos
I think I definitely would want to know where the heck they were coming from. Especially way out there.
I'd be worried 😟
Nice trip out !!
I Always enjoy your ideas and cooking.Your camera work is excellent. Love the idea of a trail camera. So curious about your " critters"
So corn chips start fires, that is good for campers they do not have to find wood. Of course in the summer time it would not be good. For the bears would probably look for them. As far as the cooking it seems every time people who cook in the woods the smell smoke goes all around and the wild animals can smell it. Then they come around looking, but you know nothing is there eventually they will not come back. That would be cool to see what animal is coming around, as far as not being afraid as long as you feel safe. Besides it is the two legged that I would be afraid of, the animals are pretty predictable but humans are not. Love where you camp it is so calm and peaceful. Blessings
Coffee mate - 0. Corn chips -1. Lol Thanks for the adventure, Jay.
haha. Lint 100. Thanks for commenting, Suzanne.
Hey Jay another great video I agree with you what's the point of doing it if your going to be afraid and living in fear, your alert and mindful of the animals if you dont go looking for them they shouldn't be bothering you. Also just and I idea why dont you setup trail camera around your tent to see what kind vistor you have when your not there.
I am starting to think about setting up a camera. Would be interesting to see what's happening.
another great video ty
Your videos are always calming and informative. It is reassuring to know that you don't have to worry about the wild animals. It would be no fun if you were scared...especially in such a remote location. Have you ever had an incident with an unwelcome visitor? I still think it would be a good idea to have a firearm handy. That was an awesome smoked sausage and fried egg breakfast. Add some hash browns and it would have been perfect 😉 Looking forward to your next video.
You know it's COLD when the snow crunches like that.
Hi Jay ! Another beautiful adventure and you are the star! Hey you didn’t say if you ate the corn chips ? Keep them coming, I look forward to watching! Stay safe Jay 🙏
Loved the ending with the trail ride.
I understand what your saying, it takes time to get the courage to stay alone in a remote location.
Being alert of your surroundings and looking for any signs of track's.
I've been divorced since 2012 ,and still alone,it took me close to a yr to feel comfortable at remote property that I have now.its a rv with a room added on with a wood stove so very comfortable.
There are cottages around but this area is for seasonal cottagers in the summer, hardly anyone around in the winter.im about 9 km back a dirt Rd with different wild animals .
One of the biggest I'd seen was a bobcat, about the size of a small Sheppard,.
Their's lots of deer .
Black bear also.
What I do find annoying are the raccoons
Take care enjoy the solitude
Thanks for this comment and for watching, Sheila. Jay
Ooh! Loved the closing snowmobile shot! Since I found this channel I've wondered what that trip looks like. I wouldn't worry too much about wildlife in the dead of winter - spring and autumn, though, that's another matter - but you do have to remember to yell "Hit the Subscribe button!" at them when you're leaving.
Hahaha. Good one.
I love my cast iron pan too , can't beat it.
That snow machine shot at the end was Great 👍 that looked awesome! You can't ever expect to go super remote without critters because that's were they live. People don't always get that or how to just respect that situation
Keep up! From Sweden 👍🙏👏🇸🇪
I think I was the first viewer a few days ago but had nothing to say. I loved it all. Today I appreciate your description of your progression into loving the wild, cold, and being alone. I appreciate it all. The year I lived in CA and hiked were awesome. Now I have to get out. I live way from the city but not far enough. My hope is to have a small house mid state with birch trees and some land. I don't want to hear noise except animals. In some ways, it could be quieter where I am with so much building going on. I need a hospital and food delivery. If you have any ideas on where I might migrate to in Canada, I surely would be grateful. I am alone. No man. I wish there was but there isn't. I would like a small house put together well and quiet ideally with a view of water. Near hospital and healthy food. Bless you but I could not eat the food you eat although I love it. I love kielbasa and may get some for Easter. Thank you so much for posting your stories and adventures. Much better than movies. Also lovely to meet one of your daughters. You are sweet together.
