Great topic I feel that a lot of artist struggle with this I know I have. What I started doing since I want to get better at figure drawing was I bought the cheapest notebook at Michael's. I keep it in my back back at all times and the only focus of it is 1 min gestures. I have notice that I do not draw in it everyday but it does get me to think about the note book, so if I have down time like when I am waiting for my wife to come out the store or I am waiting in line I will pull out the note book and just go on Pinterest and do a couple of sketches which
1) Expose me to different poses to draw which in the long run gets me to draw the human figure multiple times
2) By the time I am done I have found a pose I want to explore further which get me to paint or draw it at a later time
3) Gets me to draw with out caring if its perfect or not (gets rid of the fear of perfectionism)
This helped me draw more and I am hoping that someone reading this can benefit from this.
Thanks and good luck
that's an amazing idea!!!! thank you so much for sharing this. I found it to be helpful! I'm sure many others will as well 😊
I think I resonate with with your "friend-based accountability collective" idea. I follow a bunch of art school kids like "purple kabocha" and "sunshell", both of whom attend art schools in NYC, and the art lab friend dynamic is alive and well as a factor in their friend groups keeping one another motivated through long hours and tough assignments. For post-school adults, I think replicating this useful dynamic in a creative collective can be a great source of ideas, feedback and encouragement.
Totally agree!! it's so helpful to get feedback and encouragement from others :) I'm glad you resonated with this 😊
Having another creative friend has definitely helped me stay motivated ☺️ for me it’s my sister. Whenever one of us isnt feeling inspired and motivated to create, the other person is there to bounce ideas around 💖
That's amazing!! It truly is soooo helpful! I'm happy you have each other 💕
Justamente el video que necesito. 😌💕
Yay!! Me alegro que te haya gustado 😊
Esse vídeo foi pra mim. Obrigada! 👌
simmm! De nada 💕
A great chat with me, Ana! I need to be better at purposely planning a paint session into my days. And thanks for sharing your experience on trying something above your skill level. If I was to branch out into faces I probably would have approached it the same way, trying for it all at once, so I will remember to do small studies first! Happy Painting! 🎨
The excitement gets ahead of us sometimes hahah 😊 I find that small studies have been more helpful to get me to where I am now. I'm glad this video helped you! 💕
This was a lovely “Chat with me” video, for me is planning when to paint the biggest help but also the hardest to accomplish. It seems there are always so much things that are more important that has to be done… it keeps me away from painting and practicing. Are you feeling comfortable with sharing your normal daily routine?
Thank you for this relaxing video! Take care.
I agree!! I completely understand where you're coming from. I wish you all the best 💕 and I wouldn't mind sharing it, maybe I could do that in a future video :) Thank you for being interested 😊
❤️
❤️✨
I’m loving this series and topics ❤️ can’t wait for the next episode!! Ps. Art friends are everything! I couldn’t be without mine 🌹
thank you so much!! ❤️ I couldn't agree more ☺️
dear Ana, plz revise yr text, reading "me" instead of (?) "be"🥰.
i like yr vlogs for what! sensible artistic endeavor. i hope u wd somehow manage to keep yourself 'always' as currently, able to use what u got: a natural ease with the canvas----and neglect the rest, the troubles and whatever distractions. i find your brushstrokes and touch quite mature, and i dont even prefer to focus my eyes on portraits. (Oh! and u r adorably photogenic.) Love, mg
Thank you Maggie! I appreciate it 😊
