This happened to me before thought it was ceased up, binned it and bought a new one. It happend again thank goodness for you tube and the people like you Dave who keep us all right. It worked a treat. Thanks once again.
Oh, my. Same problem for my Kärcher. Cleaned the garden terrace and next day I wanted to do the terrace in front of the house and he didn’t do anything. Did your trick but also did another thing: just bounced it on the ground, little careful and it worked right away. I was thinking of an old start motor in my TRIUMPH Herald from the 1960’s. That needed a bang with a hammer once in a while. Anyway, thank you! I already bought a new condensator, but that trick was most likely mentioned by somebody who sold these electrical component. Don’t need it now. From The Netherlands: you’re my hero.
You absolute utter legend! I had convinced myself that the switch was broken, I was about to start tearing it down, tools in hand. And I thought I better have a quick look on CZcams and found you. Great work. Thank you very much!! Looking at Feedback you’re never going to have to buy another pint again!
I am so glad to have watched this video, I almost threw my K5 out in disgust, it is the second Karhcer I have had and I vowed it would be the last. I used it maybe 10 times in the 2 years i had it before it stopped working. I then took it to the tip and couldn't bring myself to throw it in the skip. I watched this brilliant video and thought I'll givie it a go...ran some water threw the karcher for about 5 minutes and could believe it when it started up. BRILLIANT! Thx Dave
Thank you so much. Just got out my washer to clean the cars, in lockdown, and it wouldn't start. Checked fuse, water pressure etc., no joy. Checked Karcher website, couldn't find anything helpful. Tried CZcams and there you were - followed your guidance, got it working in about five minutes. You saved my sanity.
Brilliant video and solved my issue to a T ! I wish I had seen the video months ago before I did exactly as you did and stripped it in pieces. I priced up the on/off switch at £160 from a Karcher dealer! It was only due to the lockdown that I had time to try and build it back together. I watched your video only really to get the switch orientation correct but it never showed it. Worked that bit out and did your bleeding trick- perfect !!! Many thanks
Heartful thanks from the south of France dear David! Your tutorial allowed me to resolve a problem that had me scratching my head for a while already! Congratulations on a very very useful video!
Most glad to have found this! The owner's manual says nothing about this trick, as far as I can tell, but this saved my bacon when I was just about ready to junk my K5 today! You saved me hundreds of dollars and wasting a perfectly workable washer!! After all the attempts, plugging, unplugging, turning on and off, changing receptacles, resetting over and over and just nothing. I found this video, used your trick and boom, I was back at it!
Just an AMAZING piece of advice - I'm totally non technical and a pressure washer which is obviously totally dead electrically causes me to lose the will to live. Especially during corona lockdown! SO lucky I stumbled on your post - thanks a million!
I am not native english speaker and it costed me a lot to fully understand what you said, I even activated the youtube captions but they didn't catch that either. Eventually I figured the procedure and it fixed my problem same as all the folks here. Thanks a lot for sharing so simple and priceless info. Saludos from México.
I thought the motor on my Karcher K4 had burnt as it was not turning on. I was about to order a new one but then came across your video. I followed the simple steps and as you rightly stated it popped to life. I cannot thank you enough, you saved me a great deal of money. I wish you the very best!
Your very welcome Patrick glad to help, if in return you want to buy me a drink or help support my channel click here www.solwayplumbers.co.uk/donate_37.html
You Sir are an utter genius! I was on the verge of buying a new pressure washer because it wouldn't start when I watched your video which worked a treat. As you say, you have to keep the water running for a few minutes. The airlock won't be remoced immediately. Thank you!!!!!
I too have joined those who had this problem. I have K4 - When it would not start I checked fuse and decided that the problem must be simple as it had worked perferctly the day before.I thought of an airlock but did not think of running the water as a solution to clear the issue. Having previously taken another Karcher apart I was slow to go down that road again. Thanks to You tube and to you David. Now off to clean my conservatory! Thanks again.Stay safe in these curious times.
Thanks so much Dave! Like many others here, I have a K5.800 that only worked when it felt like it. I'd looked for local repairers with little luck, and was resigned to buying another one (expensive piece of kit as you know). Then I found your video. Worked perfectly! My wife is cleaning our pavements now while I choose which beer to have for this afternoon! I owe you at least one beer! Great!
If I could buy you a beer I would!!! I can’t believe this was such a simple fix. Took a few minutes of running the water before it worked but sooo pleased that it did. THANK YOU!
Hahha i think i owe you a pint when i first seen youre video i thought bollocks that aint gonna work but here i am eating my words after trying it thanks mate what a legend you are
Worked perfectly for my Kärcher K2 Premium. Let 2 Litres of water run through the lance handle, problem solved. Thanks David, you saved me from unneeded disassembly work, Sir.
Absolute genius - had all the equipment ready to strip mine down and thought, I'll just have a look and see on CZcams first. Thank you it worked and I owe you a pint my friend
Brilliant...have been wondering about my K5 for some weeks now and finally got around to stripping it down. Got as far as the insides (not as far as you got), searched for potential spares etc, then stumbled across you video...! Put it back together did as you showed and hey presto! it works...Many thanks JB
Was about to start step 1 ( electrical testing) before I saw your video. Tried the flushing which worked a treat. Thanks for saving me the time and effort. Keep up the good work
Just want to thank you for the very simple solution to my Karcher K4 not having any electrical power. Just running water through the system for a few minutes, and hey presto, it burst into life! No doubt saved me a fortune if I had to send it off somewhere. I am also happy to buy you a couple of pints!
Thanks for sharing, I assumed mine was dead from being in winter storage but thought I'd Google it before binning it and buying a new one and found this video. Mine was on with water running and no power, as soon as I disconnected the lance the motor fired up instantly! I bet there are so many perfectly fine power washers taken to the tip each year from people that don't know about this 'safety feature'. Anyway thanks very much 👍
Thank you so much. You are a genius. We were ready to take our Pressure was her to the repair shop but watched your video saving us a fortune. Cheers 🥂
Brilliant video Dave, thank you so much for sharing your know-how ! Pure gold, I just couldn't work out why my K4 wouldn't work! Bingo, you had the answer. Saved me so much time and energy !!
I'm another person you've saved a lot of time and money! It didn't clear after running for 12 mins, I tried laying the K4 on its side with the inlet upwards, more air bubbles came out - and off we went! Many thanks.
Thank you so much after messing around with plugs and fuses I ran the water through the hose for 10 minutes and the power washer sprung into life ! March 31st 2020
Thank you so much for this. I had my K5 on the workbench about to take it to pieces and as an idle thought turned to CZcams. Thank God I found this and thank you so much for taking the time to put it out there. Quite simply, I did as you said, and it worked as you said, simples. How many service visits are being paid for by customers who just think their machine is faulty? Bad archer, bad. If I could buy you a pint I would, thanks again.

Thanks mate you’re a LEGEND !!! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 Got my D4 working again in minutes. (had it in the car already to take it to the repair shop, I am sure they’d tip me off there)
Great video. My old K5 worked the other day, then refused to turn on. It did the same with my son a couple of weeks ago. I've tried your method 4 or 5 times today but to no avail. Plug fuse and socket are working. I'll give it another go tomorrow. Cheers.
Thank you so much for this information - I was pulling my hair out, had checked the fuse and was just about to start taking my K5 apart! Great work, and a mystery they don't include this information in the manual (the trouble shooting section is very poor!)
I had the same problem with my k5 and I replaced with k7 and after I watched this video I tried and my k5 is alive again! Thanks for sharing this with us! Now I have two karcher working 👍😁😁😁
Thank you so much. I took my washer out of my shed and did what you said. It bubbled and gurgled a bit then I turned it on. GOOD AS NEW!!!!! Cheers mate. 😁😁😁
Many Thanks for the "how to" my karcher sprang back into life but there is still air coming through the pressure hose with the power off. Ran water for 20 mins but still not a constant stream. I guess air is being drawn in some where but there are no visable leaks or does the stream from yours still have a little air in?? checked the supply hose and there's no air coming out of that so definitely the machine drawing ir from somewhere.
Same problem today, checked socket output. Checked fuse, checked lead, all Good. Started to strip down then thought check out you tube. Came across your video. Tried your solution. YOU LEGEND 👍👏👏👏
Ok maybe an old upload but this has helped me with ours. It wasnt doing anything this morning. Thought try plug in fuse still nothing then saw this. Had it running through like you said. And hey presto worked. Thankyou for saving us money
Hi Sarah, its not that old just 2019 but still its good it helped you, if you care a pint to say thanks is always appreciated lol there's a link I posted
Yeah, great vid, I just wish I'd found this before taking my K4 apart. Unfortunately now I've put everything back together again and bled the air out the washer sort of works but the motor doesn't fully pressurise the line. The motor spins for about 1/3rd the expected duration and I only get "medium" pressure on the wand. Any ideas what I've managed to break taking this apart?
Mine is leaking on the inside but having problems getting the casing off, I have removed the handle and chemical control then the 6 screws on the front but the casing is still solid, are there additional screws behind the yellow trim ?
Amazing, such a simple solution, but why don't Karcher tell customers how to remedy this fault? I was about to take my K4 to a repairer. Thanks a million!
Well I have to say... thank you so much. I viewed your vid and was very excited to see would it work. I did as you said and ..... nothing happened. Very pissed off I tried it a few times, the exact procedure and it eventually worked. My advice.... dont give up. Thanks again.
Had this problem this morning, thought I would You Tube it first and your solution came up first and solved the problem Thank you very much. It made me laugh seeing what you went through first though with the stripping down. :-)
