  • In this video, I will be showing you 3 upgrades that I recommend you add to your Karcher K4.
    Below are links to the upgrades I have mentioned in this video. I have no affiliation to any of the brands or products below, they are just the ones I have bought and would like to share with you, should you wish to buy them.
    1. replacing the original plastic back foot with an aluminium one.

    2. replacing the shockingly bad stock hose with a rubber braided hose

    Brilliant video. I had a leak just as described and ordered the spare part from your link. It was impossible to fit the metal elbow into the plastic bit, solution, soaked the plastic back rest in boiling water for 3 minutes, then easy peasy, now no leak. Many thanks.

    I have a K5 compact. Are there any upgrades I can do? I have replaced the hose, have a stubby gun and metal lance with curve on the end that fits onto the stubby gun, all quick release. I only use the Karcher gun and lances for cleaning the patio. I use stubby gun, MMC foam cannon (stubby gun fitting) and metal lance attachement for cleaning the car.

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately, I don't have a resolution to this. Admittedly, it is very annoying even with an after market hose. I just looped it up as best as I could and hung it over the top of the machine.

  • @steverabbits

    Great upgrades! I tried to order the exact same hose yesterday but out of stock - probably your fault 😂😂😂 I'll definitely be doing the hose. Mine already has the aluminium elbow pipe but I do wonder if the leaks happen because connecting and disconnecting the hose over time stresses the plastic ones and whether just leaving it attached would maybe make it last a lot longer or maybe even stop the leak from ever happening?

    Hi there, as previously posted I did the upgrade with the rear foot and the rubber hose. I’ve found that I cannot release e nose rom the full control trigger now, so I have to dismantle the trigger assembly to do so. I don’t seem to find spares for the release mechanism ie.e spring clip or release button. Have you any suggestions other than new unit. Thanks in advance.

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 3 lety

      If you mean the male connector on the machine itself, I haven't had to do anything with mines. You could probably get a brass or aluminium one but if its leaking, I'd try removing it and maybe use some plumbers tape then put it back on, making sure it's in the right threads.

      I agree with you 100%, David. For all it would cost to replace a hose and a backfoot, it's crazy they keep putting them out with poor parts.

      I don't understand why they fit such a poor hose to the machines in the first place. Stick a decent hose on it and charge an extra £10-£15. Is the 10m karcher hose rubber?

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 3 lety +1

      You don't need to replace the backfoot, Bradley, if it's just the hose you want to upgrade. The stock backfoot is plastic and is known to split so I just replaced it with the aluminium one. Hope this help. Cheers, Liam.

    • @bradley1125

      @@lfautocosmetics Hi Liam, thanks again. I’ve been debating whether to stick with the K4 control or get the k4 compact instead. Mainly because the k4 compact appears to be easier to disconnect the hose. Would you say it is easy enough to change the hose. I assume I need to take the pin out? And is it quick connect on the k4 control Itself? Kind Regards

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 3 lety +1

      @@bradley1125 it is very easy to change the hose. There is one pin to disconnect that holds the hose onto the unit itself and then you just put the new hose in and put the clip back in to hold it in place. It's the quick release connector so literally takes 10 seconds to change.

    • @bradley1125

      @@lfautocosmetics Thanks for the advice. I’ll be ordering a new hose for sure. I was reading that this metal back foot was karchers new approach at fixing the leaking problem. What is the chances the latest k4 model has this metal part now? I made sure to avoid the 2018.

      @lfautocosmetics  Před 3 lety

      Hi David, I have left a link in the description for direct hoses. That is the hose I bought. The swap over is very simple, it's literally one clip holding it into place so you just pop it out, put the new hose in and replace the clip. Doesn't take long at all. Hope this helps mate 👍

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 2 lety

      Is it the stock hose on your lance? The only thing I can think of is there me be a build uo of back pressure which is causing your machine to cut out. I'm assuming the K5 has a higher output than the K4 so that may be the issue. I've had no problems with the angled lance.

    Your upgrades are all ok as I’ve had the same problem with all three. However your lance set up isn’t fit for purposes as the way to go is just bin the lances completely and replace it with a short trigger lance that you can use with just one hand and so you can also use a foam cannon too

    • @lfautocosmetics
      @lfautocosmetics  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Ian, thanks for your comment although I disagree with you. The setup you see is definitely fit for purpose. I also have a short trigger gun and where I find it useful for some tasks, I find it useless for others. For example cleaning the underside of vehicles is much easier with a lance, power washing the roofs of larger vehicles is much easier with a lance so you're not leaning over the paintwork. I find short triggers can put a fair bit of strain on the forearm if used for any length of time. Each to their own I suppose.
