At least one of the magpies from the group of three magpies who conquered the territory around the bird-box, now fully masters the trick. There has been no retraining from me. Actually, the very moment i was going to redesign the 'working-area' back to a training mode, a saw a few bottle-caps collected.
---------------------------
An unexpected development
A new group of three magpies has conquered the territory around the bird-box. The new group of magpies seems to have seen the original magpies exchange caps for food and are intensely trying to succeed themselves. The last step, to release the cap, they have not yet understood, and precisely that moment they have probably not been able to observe from a distance.
What should I do now? Train the new gang? drive them away (how) and hope my original magpie buddies come back? - Věda a technologie
I really hope this experiment keeps advancing for you, maybe one day you can train them to find loose change around your neighborhood.
Where did you get this money?
Somewhere
Child: hey where did my money go
lmfao
When they master the art of picking random shit they could pickpocket wallets
Or... to steal money from ppl at cash machines ....sorry I clicked evil genius mode by mistake
@@bingolinging will be hard... noone carries cash in Sweden. But in another country sure!
Ok but can we talk about how cute his little jumps are ?
He jumps like he was animated by Pixar
Pixar was animated by it
I know you are putting those caps in the yard for the birds to find but I wonder how many lids you get from other places.
One way to find out: Mark the caps put in the yard then observe how many caps without marking.
@@GraeMatterz I like that idea.
ohh that would be a good experiment. Write a number on your caps and at the end of a month see how many caps you get from outside
@@GraeMatterz This is a great idea! I wonder how many extra caps he could find?
Apparently, Mr Magpie Trainer has been making videos after this video which we are responding to which address the questions, issues, and ideas of our feedback.
It would be good for him to record in the subsequent videos which feedback he is addressing so that viewers can simply SUBSCRIBE to the channel and see the progress without needing to study the text feedback and the replies.
Just a thought...
I love how he looks under to see if he can get the bottle cap back for a second trip through. Better keep your eye on that collection bucket, if they manage to knock it off, you're going to have a problem on your hands!
Sometimes the bucket below falls off by itself, a magnetic solution to hold it and when there is to much load it sometimes falls off...Well, not much of a problem, the birds have a party until the machine is empty...then the chill out in the cherrythree, next day they are hungry again.
But i get your point...i have a long list of things that has toa addressed, improved or rebuilt...i plan to publish my forthcomung work and impovements. Right now, there is a soda-can experiment, delayed due to a storm over here last night. And in the long term, the AI-camera based general purpose object detector...

@@LabbHasse oooh like a barcode reader for dropped bottles? that would be crazy, watching magpies fly around with empty bottles!

Man, you just instigated a magpie war of conquest. The other group saw that magic machine that exchanged trash for food and they decided they wanted it.
Why does The Who's Tommy suddenly spring to might, it's like watching kids figuring out and beating a game.
Adorable.
When I call out " My boy, good boy " the magpies come. Tried other ways but they only respond to that.
I love magpies because they can be friendly and crafty !
What a magnificent bird. I wish we had them where I live.
discovering alien technology and learning how to use it to your advantage
Why do I love watching the bird bounce back to the table happy that he/she found a bottle cap
I love the way they hop around ❤

Классно! Так всю территорию от крышек уберет. Чисто будет ...
He hops around so gracefully too
thanks for sharing. Is there just one magpie that comes or are there a few of them?
That's amazing!
Keep it up Mr. Forsberg. Great experiment. Imagine.. thousands of birds in every county/country do the chore work instead of littering people. I wonder what he/she meant, when he/she gave dislike.
Amazing!
Imagine making this in the era of pay phones and instead of bottle caps you had him trade in quarters, people at pay phones and bus stops would be robbed 24/7.
All the corvids (ravens and crows and magpies) are the smartest birds and good at figuring things out.
Oh~
It's so cute.
That bird is very cute!
She is too clever.☺👌👌👌👌👌
Love the Idea, Now for the Plans. so I can also build this..
Wonderful - I enjoy watching your videos and your channel - Thanks from Denmark 🙏

Really nice project! How did you trained magpies ? Training sessions must has been really long?
I Will post a video about the training during This week
By making it gradually more complicated
Excellent!
Yes, but he has to work for his reward ! 😊
This is how I learned to play slot machines at the casino.
Pls dont stop. I really like your videos
Это Чудесно!! Автор, вы очень хороший человек. Спасибо за ваши труды!
Magpie once brought me a champagne cork!
I would say that the most existing path to go is to examin how fast the knowledge will spread to a heard. Now you have 2+3 individuals mastering/knowing the trick. Maybe you AI-cam could also be used to build statistics about the individual magpies...
This is so cool.
like si te paresio interesante y si viniste por un poco de todo
Si jajaj
Amazing
That's cool
Nice!!!!!!!
This is revolutionary..
Smart bird, but this is just a metaphor for life!
I am just amazed how many bottle caps you have in your lawn
Очень круто!
Wow 😳 😲
Incredible 😍😍😍
Bravo felicitări
is he cleaning the whole world now? 🤔😛
The Bird: I deserve two pieces for each delivery. Not that portion will feed me and my siblings. Gotta protest.
This is brilliant ❤️❤️❤️
I would buy one of this .... love my maggies
This is amazing
Yeah yeah yeah. We have seen this same kind of stuff before. We have seen it for ages now. Mankind works for peanuts . It's been going on for ever.
Молодец, красавчик Hans))
Спасибо !
I would love to have something like this in my area, it would clear up some of the trash on the road
Ok now how did you build this because we need one around us! Our yard literally has trash buried in it (the chickens keep digging it up), I'm convinced the town we live in resides on an ancient landfill. Always trash everywhere it blows in too. :( What good smart birds.
Feels like this guy sits at his porch ... Open up beer and casually throws the cap in his lawn .... ,🤣🤣🤣

Top to see 😂
He's a greedy one! Wants all of the peanuts for himself.
I have seen videos where magpies hide or learn out of there knowlegs, interresting how this will be. Maybe they stay away and play uninterested in hope to drive the new away.
The birds are gonna go on strike soon once they figure out their working for peanuts

La ave: aprovecha el bug ya que no hay nadie :D
This bird is smart
even magpie has job now.
That bird understood Capitalism very quickly, good job Bird.
does it ever bring in caps from the streets? Imagen if birds started to learn this trick all over the word. Together we could help each other clean up this planet!
I am mesmerized watching these magpies and BirdBox in action. I'm so curious though - what is the compartment labeled "Fruit" for?
Probably where he leaves fruit for them outside
It'd be cool if you had two machines and one gave two pieces instead of one. Wonder if the birds would use one machine more than the other
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
I really love your project! What's the average amount of caps you receive every month?
I can see the future now
Could be a great way to help clean up litter at parks.
F*ck! Thats sick!😂
This should be mass produced!
Ditempat gue boro-boro ngajarin burung jadi begini, baru dilepas langsung diburu orang.
Ini my country, it's impossible to train the birds to be as this smart, let them fly means death. People will hunt them to die.
Do you seed your yard with bottle caps for them to use or do they bring them from other places they've found?
Hi.
I normally seed the garden with more or less hidden bottlecaps, from time to time, the birds finds other caps from the street or neighbours. The magpies seems to have a rather small territory, like a few houses/gardens...
Suddenly, a friday afternoon, and a journalist from Swedish national radio was planned to visit my garden the next monday, there was a big fight in the cherry-tree close to the birdbox. Several magpies 6-8, where fighting wildly...The next day...the box was dead. No more bottle-caps collected
The most likely explanation is that another gang of three ‘new’ magpies had conquered the territory from the original gang of three magpie chicks.
What do do...wait and see...or retrain the new group?? A few days later, just as i was starting to rebuild the setup, back for training, there were some bottlecaps detected again. Its obvious that the new birds had seen the original ones do the trick...it took some time for the new birds to understand that they had to actually drop the bottle-caps in the hole...not just inserting them
.
Achja die Subunternehmer ;)
smart

Love from indiA just saw your news in local paper
What should you do now? Train them to bring money. :)

As to your last question:
Why don't you just use two different places for two dispensing machines?
Would you please let us in on what kind of food you use now and did you cahnge the kind of food eventually to find out what they like most?
You could have a set-up where different places to drop the caps will supply different kinds of food ....
fallout snack machine :)))
You could make use of the loot box phenomenon by using different seeds and varying amounts.
Detta är så genialiskt och man ska banne mig inte underskatta djur alltså.
Next stage: gold to change for food.
Would they work for no pay? Have you tried to stop the peanuts reward to see if they would still recycle?
I feel as if birds deserve a bit more than 1 seed of what you are giving them.
So what stops the magpies from putting anything with a similar weight or shape in there - such as stones or wood bits?
There's a metal detector far enough down that they can't lower the cap without dropping it so they can't cheat the system.
Quite ingenious really
I feel that you should multiply the birds reward cause doing that is impressive maybe 4 or 3
After few years,
Magpie tried to hack the machine for food.
Too little food, probably the birds will give up.
У мужика во дворе бухают что-ли? Столько крышек валяется.
Ну ладно, он сам их накидал.
How does the bottle cap reappear to the same spot?
