You should consider wrapping the handle with twine then apply rubber cement over the whole thing. this protects the wood handle and the steel under it. You'll really like the full feel of the handle I think. I built a blade guard on mine as well.
DALE thebelldiver to be honest I just love the feel of the wood and the traditional style. I'm kinda an old school guy.
that came out great Carl!....nice sheath as well.
i have several old butcher knives that i use in the bush...great knives...well done amigo!...woods
Thank you.
You might want to read this book. docslide.us/documents/cameron-mocotaugan-book.html It says that native men had about half a dozen different mocotaugans. I assume each was of differing lengths and degrees of curve for the blade.
Northern Woodsman ya I totally agree . that mocotaugan I made in the video was awhile back. Took me forever to post the video. Now I have several different ones and your right they all have different features. Length, angle, thickness of blade, and even curve on the end. But the one in the video is a pretty decent all around one. I have a bunch of pictures on my Facebook page if your interested.
Everyone should be very, very careful of the link in the post above. Norton says it's not a secure site, and that's usually very bad.
