I'm glad everyone understands that to have a dynamic nightlife a city must have transportation that runs later than 1am. Boston should also change its attitude towards vending on the street, and allow diverse locals to benefit from the economy. It's all no brainer stuff. Let's see how the new nightlife czar performs.

The problem I have with Boston night life it’s like 70 percent college kids . They need more adult friendly places

In Philly they have buses that replace the trains when they shut down! Why doesn’t the T do that???

Don't know what these people are talking about. Nightlife is terrible for introverted people; and for people who dislike bar/club culture. In Downton Boston, it's either you have to go to a bar and drink, or go to club. My friends don't really drink, and I would rather bring a board game to a place where my friends and I can play a game, and not feel pressured to just keep ordering booze or feel claustrophobic with a lot of people and or a small table.

Nightlife in Boston is at an all time low. The 80's & the 90's were epic for nightlife. Once the 2000 came around it's been downhill. A world class city does NOT shut down at 2pm. The T SUX.

Just go visit nyc and see. Stay open until 4am or all night. Allow happy hours. $2 or No cover charges, just charge a little more per drink instead. Lots of live music, tons of international dj’s. RUN TRAINS LATER. Block party blocks.

The T running later would do extremely little to help Boston’s nightlife…. Just like the dude said: The nightlife is too “white-centric”… The city is more interested in catering to out-of-towners…. Boston was actually a fun place before all of the gentrification

    1) Extend the curfew/last call. 2) give the late night T a chance 3) when summer hits all the students are gone, so you're left with tourists BUT there's so many summer fall activities, winter is a dead zone

  • @PineappleChocker

And to add to all of that, they also need food places to stay open later so we can grab something to eat before we head home 🤷🏼‍♀️

The T needs to be open later than the bars. This is not only for people to get home without driving drunk, but also for those who work late so others can have fun to be able to get home too. The commonwealth also needs to allow home rule for liquor licenses in Boston like it does for every other city and town so there can be more hope for neighborhood bars and restaurants to be able to get one.

  • @Jimmy8683

Happy hour, get rid of liquor licenses, late night T 3 nights a week, relax restrictions on bars, create nightlife zones where public drinking is allowed and there's plenty of police

I agree with Asian guy. Boston nightlife is very ethnic divided. Causian hang out with themselves most of the time. Most people don't intermingle with other cultures.
Train needs to run 24 hours to attract people to stay later at clubs, bar..etc.
One time I missed my last train to Quincy from Boston and I was just watching a movie with my friends at AMC. I had to pay for uber worth 68 dollars.
Most Bars in Boston only offer Sports games. It would be better if they offered theme bars like playing boardgames, showing episode of popular TV show and so on.
Of course, the food and drinks need to be cheaper for people to go outside more after work or school.

The whole "extend the open time" thing is nonsense. Another few hours is not going to fix any city's night life. Other cities have a way more dynamic night life and still close at 2am, including home city of LA where no one complains about it. What would dramatically improve Boston's night life is incentivizing businesses to orient themselves towards group activities that would cater to more than just college kids and sports bros. Bar games are a great way to for people to socialize, but most bars in Boston don't have so much as a pool table. It's not that there's no bar games in Boston, but there's not nearly enough of it. Go to other major cities and you'll find it's increasingly common for night venues to have pool tables, air hockey, corn hole, pinball machines, dart boards (as in not just one that's crumbling), jenga, bocce ball, cards against humanity, and so on. Having things like Versus and Play is alright, but they're not the same as cool neighborhood joints with their own personalities and features. One of the only valid suggestions I've heard is improving public transportation. Running smaller shuttle buses at night during early AM hours is an obvious solution and doesn't require keeping the T running. Otherwise, the people in this video are high on their own supply.

Far too old for any of this these days, but if late night bars/clubs closed at 5 or 6 am, the T is back open for the new day. Just saying

There are two reasons why Boston sucks ... 1. There are no good events or venues for meeting people. For example, Chicago has lots of professional networking events that are really just social events in disguise. They are a great way to meet new people. Boston is just loud bars / clubs focused on selling as much alcohol as possible at the highest prices possible. 2. The people suck. Boston is full of "tough guys" always looking for a fight b/c nobody is getting any action ... which leads me to the women. There aren't enough decent looking women with good attitudes. This is something you can't change in this city. It's too expensive, which means the only women who can afford to move here are typically not the most attractive, cooperative, or agreeable. They tend to be combative and aggressive, and certainly not the lookers of the litter ... which is why they pursued academics / professional success to the degree they have. Each time I've moved away and returned, this is the first thing I notice ... along with the music on the radio is the same since the 1980s. If there were more attractive and pleasant women, you wouldn't have so many guys trying to be tough guys. This is the only city I've noticed this phenomenon.

that asian guy that said boston is too white is wrong. 40% of people interviewed were actually black or BIPOC so boston is a diverse city. but i can't believe the city has a curfew and trains stop working after 1.. that is actually INSANE. no where in the world it is like this. trains should go all night and curfews shouldn't exist in 2023 seriously who are the people making these ridiculous rules? boston needs more diversity because people of diverse backgrounds are more fun and with more minorities boston would automaticaly be a more fun city. if there are only whyte people like that asian said, its no wonder its boring because whytes are bland and not fun. IMPORT MORE BIPOC TO HAVE A MORE VIBRANT AND FUN CITY
