- The Dramatics-In The Rain-Original Lead Singer Wee Gee | Tribute to Wee Gee (William Howard)
In The Rain was one of The Dramatics first big hits. The lead singer was William Howard who was better known by his nickname Wee Gee. Wee Gee did a re-make of that song and performed it on The Scene in 1983. Wee Gee was the lead singer on several of The Dramatics early hits. Wee Gee, you are gone but you will never be forgotten.
From the wife of William Howard: "WeeGee’s love of music was as legendary as his God’s given gift of voice and passion for all he loved. I am sure his spirit is uplifted by the love, support and prayers for his family from his “Fab Fans”. Twenty one years after his passing we are blessed with the strength and favor to be willing and able to share our story. Thank you for your continued friendship and support. Hi Nat, Julie, WeeGee’s wife here. Happy Halloween 🎃. I remember WeeGee telling me about “garbage can night”, never heard of it being from New York. WeeGee was a proud, home-grown, Detroit tough, man. Now classified as a “legendary artist, WeeGee ALWAYS remains a Dramatic who loves his brothers, some, now to eternity. WeeGee’s love of music was as legendary as his God’s given gift of voice and passion for all he loved. I am sure his spirit is uplifted by the love, support and prayers for his family from his “Fab Fans”. Twenty one years after his passing we are blessed with the strength and favor to be willing and able to share our story. Thank you for your continued friendship and support. This guy is something else. He's very dramatic (pun intended) when he's performing. I love him!
Wee Gee, you have a beautiful voice and you lead the Dramatics along with the other Dramatics to greatness with all the wonderful songs that were made. RIP
He was the main SINGER ORGINAL AND THE BEST
What a voice! Unparalleled. "In The Rain", "Thank You for Your Love" and "Lady Love" represent 50+ years of memorable listening I never get tired of.
Wee Gee's voice was a Blessing to Humanity's ears! There has never been an equal to the Dramatics "ONE & ONLY" truly lead voice. This man always left part of himself in these beautiful songs! Be at Peace! You are now gracing the halls of Heaven with your songs.
Happy birthday Weegee, we love and miss you. My Dad!!!!! Love you Poppy!
Melyssa Sava Did ur dad sing lead on Hey You Get off My Mountain? He was incredible! The Soul Train performance of Watcha See is Watcha Get is absolutely classic. They all looked like they were having so much fun!
"Hey You Get off My Mountain" came out in 1973 from the Dramatics 2nd album. WeeGee Howard had quit the group after their first album. L.J. Reynolds sung lead on that song.
BEAUTIFUL VOICES and SONGS ABOUT LOVE. Today's music doesn't have STAYING POWER. ISAAC HAYES told me about STAYING POWER OF SONGS in person at a record shop here in MEMPHIS.
Was that your dad. He was so handsome. That soul Train video with him in the red suit he was 21yrs old, was he not, I watched him 100 times. You can say I'm nuts about him. Was shocked to hear he passed so young.
Child hood crush on him. This song still does it for me.
I never would have thought---this is the man that made The Dramatics….his voice is amazing 🤩---I love every one of the Dramatics each of them brought some so exceptional to the table…….Wee Gee I love you ❤ thank you for so many beautiful songs🎉🎉🎉😘😘😘
I love raspy voice singers, male or female it doesn't matter. 🎤
I hear Alex Jones is coming out with an album. 🤣
@@georgiadronefootage4136 I'll pass on Alex. 😊
I was introduced to this song over 50 years ago at a after school party and I still love it
This Man had one of the greatest voices EVER !!!!
Legendary vocal ability !
Thee best Lead of The Dramatics ever !
No question
I only remember him singing Hold on to your dreams 💯👍🏽
If I live to be 100 years old, I will never understand why Wee Gee Howard left a multi million dollar group at the top of their game. Just can't get it. It's way over my head. Wee Gee did without a doubt made the dramatics into household names. But nobody even remembers that. RIP WEE GEE
+Oran Payne I am right there with you on that thought. The Dramatics with Wee Gee had a great chance to surpass the Stylistics, Spinners, and even the O'Jays for singing groups in the 70's. But you are right in that few people even remember that. This is truly a case of the sum being greater than the parts.
Oran Payne IMISS him
He was a young kid whose ego was completely out of control. He obviously did not have good people around him to give sound advice. Keep in mind that he was only 21 when he recorded those early Dramatics hits. What else can be said, he was an idiot just like David Ruffin, his hero.
Oran Payne ... Basically because they weren't getting a piece of that multi- million dollars. Why work and make money for somebody else? That's called being a SLAVE.
Unfortunately for him, he was forgotten, because L.J. Reynolds came in, and was just as dramatic of a lead singer, and their sound was redefined, in the opinion of many, for the better.
Children Hold On To Your Dreams
Oh yes, The Dramatics, is still, and always will be a household name. Nothing but the VERY BEST FOREVER and ALWAYS. PEACE.
RIP WeeGee
Wee gee you and the angels are now singing together rip wee
What a beautiful voice, i love this man....
Enjoying his voice. RIH.
What a Voice and still are Miss WEE GEE !!!
R.I.P. WILLIAM BUDDY
🙌 Now.. " This Is An Absolutely Amazingly Awesome 🎸 Jam" 💕
Thanks so much!!
This man could just sang!
OMG ....THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY....RIP WEE GEE
Never seen this version before. Very 1980s instrumentation and arrangement. Interesting!
WOW!!! I love this man, I can listen to that voice everyday!!!
Miss ya Wee Gee. RIP.
In the rain has weegee written all over it 2019
Wee-Gee was called by his nick-name .In" The Dramatics Live" !! My favorite Album.Featuring him.! I too wished he would have stayed with The Original Dramatics ! R.I.P Wee-Gee ! I miss you-uuu !!
Love that man his moves as.well.forever wee gee
ilove his voice
That Voice is Perfection.👍🏽
Aww WeeGee you did what you had to do. I know you don't regret leaving the Dramatics cause you were smart to know they were not paying you. Like all producers and managers always trying to get over their artist's. Especially in the old days. I miss you. I like "whatcha see is whatcha get" and "In the rain". Your voice was soulful you had a Al green look with a David ruffin voice. And hey if you didn't go solo and that other guy El didn't leave. Then we wouldn't have got the Fine smooth lay back Lenny Mayes or the soulful voice Mr. LJ Reynolds. They made some beautiful song's and outstanding performance's especially on Soultrain. RIP to all the members who went home to glory ☺ And God bless the members who still here which is only 3(Willie Ford, Larry Demp) Original members. LJ Reynolds replacement member but a great replacement he will be😉😘
Talk about a DAM KOOL SONG AND VIDEO! He's just singing and chillin
THE BEST
Yeah, WeeGee could sing!
great singer
Girlie in the green tho!! ❤
Wee gee the man!
Beautiful RIH WEEGEE
Me Too. an Unsung episode would be great....
Great footage, never seen this before. Love his voice, very similar to David Ruffin. Like most fans I hated that he left the Dramatics. Thanks for posting!!

Julie: sitting here with Clyde Harper and remembering the good old days. We miss him so much. Linc
WeeGee the best to do it. His voice to me makes him my favorite dramatic they all are legends but I enjoy him on the lead
Thank you for posting. I was searching for Wee Gee singing after he left the Dramatics.
Wee Gee.
I had heard of Wee Gee
Wee Gee was.a nad man, blew.my mind he left the Dramatics,,LJ was a good replacement, but nobody has ever done i wanna go outside in the rain like him or what ya see is what u get
Where was I at didn't know this existed
Dang, that was sooo good.
Love this version ( he didn’t need The Dancers)
Glad I came across this one. 👍
reeeespect !
His voice is incredible to me the best to do it
Love the two dancers!!!
He was gone before it all really got started. For beginning new music fans like me It was not until 17 years later that I knew who he was.I always thought that the voice who did the first two hit singles....was still with the group....and he did not lead anymore...well that was how I thought as a 13 year. old!
I work with his great nephew! He was so surprised to know it was a huge fan!!
2021. OMG. SANG...SANG IT!!!!! 🎶❤🔥. 🌹
this is my jam
Bliss with a little hiss. 😌👂
Good old days, I miss them look at Cheryl Peoples in the background doing her thing. Wonder what she’s doing now. Is she still alive. I hope she’s is.❤
Aww WeeGee you did what you had to do. I know you don't regret leaving the Dramatics cause you were smart to know they were not paying you. Bad ass tune
children hold on to your dreams is the only hit he had but I definitely love this in the rain totally blurs 80's.
If it wasn't for WeeGee the Dramatics never would have made it big. They didn't do anything until he became the lead singer.!
Huh? Wee Gee left before the really even were established. He was only on their first album.
@@careyconley4690 Nah, they were "established, but the Dramatics were so talented, they would have become successful no matter who was out front.
@@jimy0803 Actually yes because they all could sang!
@@2004mojo do u realize you’re AGREEING with the initial comment that they would have never made it “big”, had WeeGee joined and became lead singer? i said “nah”, bcuz i believed they were talented enough that it would’ve only been a matter of time.
@@jimy0803 No I'm just giving props because they all could sing lead. No disrespect to Wee Gee. He was in the group when they became successful with hits on the R&B and Pop charts.
I luv his voice. I always wondered what became of him. Thanx for upload🤗🤗
I feel the same way !
DAMN! Killin it
As an avid temptations fan I have also always praised the dramatics. I view these groups as 1 & 2 with no real competition. Like David Ruffin strong voice and great singer. I too was grown when I realized, years later that he sang "The Rain" and "What you See". I always thought of the dramatics as Lenny Mates and L. J. Reynolds in the lead roles. Wee Gee was a real talent but I am a true L. J. fan.
I agree with you. Temptations are # 1, Dramatics #2
Wee gee my baby is number 1.to me and.the rest.he s always first.
I think the Mighty Dells can be added to that arguement. Juniors voice is one of a kind.
Why are you guys not talking about Marvin Junior and the mighty dells that Marvin fella had a hulva voice
HELL! LET HIM OUTSIDE!
Nat
Good evening
Coming at you from St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, "The Rock of the Caribbean"....
Wee Gee-In The Rain is Off the hook!
I love the energy, The Scene is truly a part of our Detroit History and reached more people around the country, the world by word of mouth, than we may have realized.
The Scene is the real, grass roots spirit of Motown, so much Nostalgia, so Melancholy, Reflective, Sentimental and Nostalgic to no end.
Do you feel "The Scene" Live Reunion, and now we can take ti to the Global Community?
Allan Buckingham "Palace" :)
YESSS! 💋
He sound real good.He look like Cedric the Entertainer brother.
wee gee , why did he leave the dramatics .. he was the david ruffin of that group
amazing footage Nat! do you have any of him singing "Hold On To Your Dreams"? thanks a million for posting this footage! It made my birthday!
Storming!
Wow... The 80s.. haha. Look at the dancers. The powder must have been soooo good back then
. Lol
Is that Cheryl and Mary Lu dancing behind him? Awesome performance and fog!
Just like the saying goes "Either the Cubs or the White Sox, one or the other... cain't be both, WeeGee or LJ?same thing. People low rate him but LJ ain't to played with. I'm just a simple Dramatic Fan that loves em both. WeeGee's voice roared and LJ's soared. Do yourself a pleasure and pull up When Music was Music the Soul Train episode with Wee Gee and LJ together. The Dramatic Medley is as always.... Nice....Real nice.
God gives us all our own talents and blessings! I am so grateful He does!!! 🎼🎤
@Skinnyman Unfortunately, the reunion didn't last bcuz Wee-Gee and LJ could not get along.
@@jimy0803 the reunion was great and they all had a chance to work together. Some things are meant for a reason and others a season. When WeeGee was with the Dramatics they made some legacy recordings and LJ put in the miles with his stage performance endurance. God blessed us with having had them both.🎼🎤
All is not always as it seems. Wee Gee was a good guy, and very talented. Put 5 black men in a group with multiple leads on their first big hit and what do you get? That's your answer.
Oujia are you with me
That’s all i could think about when he was being introduced
@@julesclain9091 haha respect
Wee gee is my sons grandpa!! Kyo told me to say that he loves him even tho he never met him....and hello to weeGees wife!!
I love Wee-gee voice I always listen to him when he sang lead with the Dramatics and after he left I actually just found out that the Dramatics was from Detroit Michigan
Leah please tell Kyo his grandfather was very talented with a great voice
Wee Gee leavin the group was a VERY bad idea. It was also VERY premature. On the episode of “Unsung” they said he wanted more money. He thought he was bigger than the group. He wasn’t showing up for gigs, rehearsals. Kinda dumb cuz they only did that ONE album and he was gone. I always preferred him to LJ. Only now I’m listening to the Dramatics material with LJ as the lead singer. Took a while though. Ha. Nothing personal. LJ is a good singer, but Wee Gee was a powerful singer.
I have nothing against L J, I just like Wee Gee voice, I hated that he left the group. I missed his singing and Elbert dancing
soulman2000 this is so true
On my, if I could’ve, should’ve, would’ve! I am grateful that in this life we all have the right to our opinion. WeeGee would be honored his legacy recordings are being enjoyed today. 🎼🎤
I could see Cedric the Entertainer portraying Wee Gee at this point in his life if for a unique biopic
I bet these youngsters thought Keith Sweat made this. LOL
If we Were Gee had stayed with the Dramatics L.J. Reynolds would have never been asked to join the group. Think about it. Imagine the Dramatics without L.J. Not a very good picture if you ask me!!??
Its call capitalism money was the cost of the breakup he was lead singer like all groups no one man is above the group that was his lost was as fans groups was excellent money is the root of our evils !
