- Meet Rahul Swami - India's fastest Rangoli artist. Rangoli, a traditional Indian art form, involves creating beautiful patterns on the ground or tabletops using various materials like powdered limestone and colored sand. More than just decoration, Rangolis symbolize good luck and prosperity, often adorning the entrances of homes to welcome guests and celebrate festive occasions like Diwali, Onam, and Pongal.
With over forty thousand unique Rangolis, Rahul has never pre-planned a single design nor repeated any. His extraordinary talent lies in his ability to spontaneously create intricate patterns. He also has set staggering records, including creating one Rangoli over an area of 24,000 square feet - roughly the size of 4 to 5 basketball courts - in a mere 13 hours. Earning him a place in the Limca Books of World Records.
Join us in celebrating Rahul and the Rangoli art form on Great Big Story.

Never stop making content
... again
Never stop never stopping.
The style he practices is often referred to as Sanskar Bharti, which is a Maharashtra based NGO who promoted this style of rangoli. The artists would use sieves to fill in the background colors first, followed by using the base of the palm or end of fingers to release the white marble powder as shown in the clip. It takes a lot of practice to get consistent with the thickness of these strokes, but an easy hack for beginners is to use ketchup bottles to make these patterns with relative ease.
He has such nice art... we should honour and promote our locals, and their art work more.
Happy Deepavali to my dear Indian friends and to you too, Great Big Story. 🪔
Please never stop churning out such amazing stories ❤
Such beautiful art… such a shame it’s only temporary… ❤
But isn't it the things that last just a moment are the most beautiful, like a beautiful sunset or the birth of a child.
That's why it's so amazing
It is temporary that's why it is cherished and precious, just like life.
In Malaysia this is commonly referred as Kolam, Can be seen mostly at shopping malls during Diwali
Thank You for brightening my day all the way over here in the USA! ) Much Love~
we did this in school yesterday!! it was so much fun!!
Shivraj singh chouhan is chief minister of madhya pradesh not Gujarat
They also do this in buddhist tradtions with colored sand. They spend hours or days making complex patterns just to blow it away when its completed. I think they do it because it takes a very meditative mind to place each grain of sand, and no matter how beautiful or intricate it is it will still be blown away, which represents the temporary nature of our world. There is no reason to cling to the attachment of that beauty, because it will never last, but will always return.
That tradition has come from Hinduism only. Buddha was hindu price. We call ourself dharma followers aka Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism followers. British colonisers name all these as seperate religion. But for dharmic followers we visit each other's temples as our own. Rangoli traditions comes from Hinduism india. Just like karma, mokshya, yoga etc. which later down when other religious came adopted it as own too
this guy should make his own CZcams channel.

Sand art. There’s a tribe in the US who do something similar just not as big.
Same in Central America, in the town of Sensuntepeque in El Salvador they do 200 meter long salt art "rugs"
Sand art is also popular in Goa,Daman and Diu, Maharashtra the three western Indian states ..there they've tribes that welcomes the God of Water called Samudra or Varuna..
Very nice content FYI Rangoli is a Persian word which means (Rang = color) (goli = flowers) hence colorful flowers. When you see the art it usually is a shape of a flower and colorful
Nope, it comes from the sanskrit word "rangavalli" :)
i won't be surprised if this same word exist in persian dictionary also, cause there are many perrsian words that you guys used is actually derived from sanskrit

Boring. They should get jobs.

It turns out he has a job teaching others how to make rangoli. If you didn't notice, his house sign says "teacher."
😂Said the keyboard warrior. Get out of your mom's basement first!
