We also have a 43 foot class a and a 16 ft Casita. Whenever we have to travel quickly, we take the Casita. We keep it store it at a campground in FL. And yes, we are full time.

This sounds crazy but we have been thinking the same way. Before we went full time in our class A we owned a van camper that we loved very much. We were able to cover so much more ground than we can with a class A. We're now looking for another RV to drive on those trips where it's not very practical to drive a big motorhome.
Not that crazy actually. Since sharing this video, we have heard from a surprisingly large number of folks who also have two RVs, or plan to. If you are in a position to pull it off, it is really pretty great. -M

I have a 98 Country Coach and like you Im very happy and love having a big Coach but I get wanting something smaller to zip around sometimes. We must have similar tastes because I love the Casita choice too. Recently I saw another Rver purchase a Casita and was super impressed. Casita's have a following too it seems...

A TT makes much more sense than a second MH, it is economical, certainly more practical, giving options for even more adventures you would not be able to access with CC.

We run into quite a few monocoque fiberglass trailers like your Casita on our adventures. Our truck mounted camper is also a foam-core fiberglass shell, so we share many of the same attributes and tend to compare notes with Casita and Scamp owners. Good going. You'll find out that smaller and simpler is better.

I have a jeep Cherokee trailhawk also. I tow it using a blue ox setup. How did you reattach the two red tow hooks to the front? Love your casita, might just do the same thing.
Hi Bob. Cool you have a Cherokee Trailhawk too. We tow ours with a Roadmaster towbar. We shared detail in part 2 of our towing set up. Here is a link rvlove.com/2018/04/12/our-towing-set-up-part-2-braking-and-setting-up-jeep-tow/ But basically we just used two extra brackets that slide into the towing receivers and welded the hooks to those. Fun that you might do the same as us on the hooks and potentially even a Casita. -M

Congratulations! How are you handling parking the Casita & CeeCee (spelling?)...do they both go on the same lot, into overflow, etc?
Thank you. We could fit both on the same spot sometimes, but otherwise can put one or the other in storage space. -M
I think that is really neat. You can tow with the big motorhome. That is more stuff to keep track off but that is ok, this is what you do.

How much is the tongue weight on the casita and the Jeep? Thanks and safe travels.
The Casita mfg specs say that the dry tongue weight on the trailer is 365 pounds on our 17' deluxe model. Of course, depending on how we load it, that will change. The fresh tank is near the rear, and the black tank is at the front. So, if out boondocking, as we use that water, the tongue weight will swing significantly unless I redistribute other heavy item loading. Our Jeep is optioned with the tow package which increases the tow rating from 2000 lbs to 4500 pounds, and the tongue weight from 200 to 450 lbs. Wishing you safe travels too. -M

Thanks for being a part of our RVLove community for so many years. If I remember correctly, it took a couple weeks for ours. I know they have an expedited service, but assuming you didn't sign up for that. I would definitely recommend following up with them directly to get an estimate of when you will receive the card. They might have a backlog, and you will definitely want it before your trip. We are using ours a lot this next couple weeks as we make our way from Florida to New England. Loving the savings! -M

At the time, I was considering a class a and were waiting until this month to purchase something. Since then, we've decided to upgrade our tow vehicle and go for a moderate travel trailer.

We're a 45 ft. diesel pusher owners and are considering getting a small Class C to use as well. Our basecamp has room for both and it would be nice to be able to have a smaller unit for short trips or visiting National Parks. We're also thinking of taking it to Alaska via ferry. The beast is too tall for the ferry.
Awesome that you are looking at a small Class C for an additional option. Having a base camp that can accommodate both is a great benefit. Having a smaller RV would be great for those shorter trips you mentioned. And big bonus that it will fit on a ferry to Alaska instead of your big coach. Not to mention that ferry pricing is usually by the foot. Of course having a second motorhome isn't something for someone who is super price sensitive. But love the extra travel options it can provide, because we loved renting and trying out smaller RVs last winter. -M

We have seen it done, but we will not be towing the car AND casita with the motorhome. We tow our Casita with Either the Jeep or Motorhome. -M

I was hoping you were buying new so you could take us through the process of ordering from this boutique company.
We had actually planned on ordering new, but it was a 6 month wait, and the exact model we wanted showed up pre-owned and virtually new. From what we hear, the wait list is well over 1 year now. Very desirable little camper. -M

That is correct. WE just visited Hawaii, but we did not RV there. We stayed in a hotel and rented a car. Shipping an RV there would be cost prohibitive for us. We actually hardly saw any RVs there. One of the best things about an RV is being able to travel around. With so little space on an island it doesn't have near as much appeal as it does on the mainland USA. -M

A 2019 Casita is a good unit. Another CZcamsr Rusty78609 has one, and lives in it fulltime. Enjoy your travels.

@@Rvlove yes Rusty is by himself, an elderly gentleman in his mid 70's. He did mention that it may be a little difficult for a couple in his videos. I think he has 17 foot unit Freedom Deluxe, swivel chairs with small table. He just keeps his bed down all the time. Has a heatstrip in the A/C unit, no microwave, no TV, he did purchase a power jack. Enjoy your travels.

Yes and No. We will be living in it on shorter trips, but not full time. Some time will also be spent in the much larger motorhome -M

Congratulations on the new rv. I was thinking the same thing, I have a 37’ fifth wheel but feel it is to big to pull around the country. We have discussed buying a smaller rv to travel with and have placed the fifth wheel in a campground as a permanent.

Actually yes, very close to the same purchase price. BUT... we needed to put a lot of money into CC to fix her up. Not expecting to need to do the same here. Yes, we (especially Julie) loves that she can use the bathroom at any time without stopping. Fortunately, the small nimble nature of this RV make is super easy to stop about anywhere for a quick bathroom break. -M
