    Interesting product. Do you need a license plate or vehicle insurance for this - I did not see plates on your moped. If you're in a national park where you can ride a bike in designated areas would this fit into the bike category so you could ride along with the bikes? And is there a DC charger allowing you to charge from a battery bank/solar?

      Hi Knut, these are all great questions! Let us find out and get back to you shortly.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety +2

      Sorry for delay. Just Moved campsite! Some states will need a license plate but our state of Colorado does not: we did register it and insure it. The Flux is a motor vehicle and bike paths are built for bicycles. In a more urban setting a bike path has a unlisted speed limit of 22.5 miles an hour. That is what electric bicycles are supposed to be regulated at. So technically the answer is no. We don’t know if it would be that regulated in a national Park of course. And good idea re the DC charger - will pass that on to the Flux folks to consider. hope that helps! (Ps. We don’t know which states require plates but Flux could likely tell you)

    That's not actually a moped, since it has no pedals (motor+pedals = moped). It's a scooter. That being said, for most full-timers, the range is more than enough for running to the store for milk, or out for a quick lunch, without the hassle of having to maneuver something bigger into a parking space made for a compact car.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

    A nice option. If it went at least 55mph it would be a better option as you could ride at close to highway speeds if needed.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

      Yes this is really only designed for a local runaround, not high speed areas. We don't take it on fast roads. There are no doubt other, bigger vehicles more designed for higher speeds, but we weren't looking for those :)

    While the electric scooter is a great idea, unfortunately on,y one of us could ride ata. Time, I’m 5’8 and he’s 5’10 and combined is way over the 330 lb limit. So for us it’s the Ebikes but ours go over 5-0+ miles on one charge and can go up to 28 mph and we can get a lil exercise too. It love the idea.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 2 lety

      Yep, e-bikes are a great option as well. But glad to share this option with folks as it might not have been considered before, and the extra speed and no pedals will certainly appeal to some. -M

    Do you need a license plate on the bike, to drive on the road?

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

      We don't need a license plate in Colorado. Just need to register it, and put the sticker on it. It was less than ten bucks, and I believe the sticker is for two years. Other states might require a plate, but imagine most don't for a 'low power' scooter like this. -M

      Hi Peter - how are you? Yes, we've been buried in several very large and intensive endeavors...writing our second book plus taking care of some personal/family matters. Just starting to get caught back up on video content. We've had the Flux for over a year now and we love it. Did you get an RV yet? What did you decide on?

    • @peterdement
      @peterdement Před 3 lety

      Hi Julie, Many of the most popular full time RV CZcams channels (that I have followed for years) have changed direction and abandoned the full time RV life for a home base/sticks and bricks with part time or no time RV travel. All have done this for a myriad of reasons: overcrowding, equipment failures, high costs, no availability and the list goes on. Observing this phenomena has caused me to reevaluate entering the RV lifestyle. This coupled with the high cost of buying RV’s today has led me to decide to remain on the sidelines for the time being.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

      @@peterdement yes that is true - the pandemic and all of the other reasons you shared - are all contributors to changing direction for many folks. We had no plans to stop full timing until the ideal home base showed up near family in colorado last fall and we decided to do that and downsize for more nimble travels… which we had been considering anyway. RVs are expensive at the moment and in short supply: and yes campgrounds are more crowded. It’s not a perfect world. BUT if it’s your dream to travel and explore this beautiful country, don’t let it pass you by. The future is promised to no-one… and even part time RVing or starting with something less expensive as a “learner” can still be a great experience. We feel fortunate to have full timed for 6+ years… our travel cup after 50 states was “full” and if it wasn’t for our workload and having to attend to some personal / family matters… we would still be doing it. But this is a season, and we are grateful for the flexibility / option: we can see ourselves out there full timing again. In the meantime we are enjoying these nimbler travels… and trying out smaller rigs. Also keep in mind many CZcamsrs (in every genre) experience burnout - it can be hard to sustain high levels of content creation long term. Especially when also traveling full time. We have always known this, so have focused on creating other kinds of content (like the books, courses) to help folks over the long term instead of weekly videos, which is very hard to sustain while also keeping a healthy personal balance…. Kudos to those who manage to do it! (I really don’t know how!) Happy 4th to you!

    Very cool! I'd love to have one but... the 330 pound capacity is very limiting. I Weigh 175 (with clothes). My wife is probably 140. The extra battery is probably 20. That is over the 330 pound limit without any cargo. That means that it is transportation for one. Sorry, but not practical for me.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety +1

      We're about the same - we're brushing right up against the limit of 330 lb all up. The cargo case is good for a bag or two of groceries, but not for lots of heavy gear. But we tend to only drive it short distances anyway, so any time we may have been over the 300 lb would have been for only a mile or two. Marc runs errands on it solo about 50% of the time. When the two of us go out, it's mostly to get out and have a fun ride and see the scenery, and not so much carrying cargo. Cheers!

      Hey guys - sorry you felt that way! That wasn't our intention at all! We've been on an unintended CZcams break as we've just been so buried with our new book (out 7/13), and taking care of some personal family matters. We have several videos 'in the works' but this was the first one to be ready to post, and seeing as the Flux is such a great summer vehicle, we decided to release that rather than wait longer for the other videos in the queue in case folks were interested. What kinds of videos are you most interested in seeing next? We have so many in progress, it would be good to hear what's of most interest. Happy 4th of July to you! Cheers - J&M

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey there - just want to clarify - we were NOT paid to do this video. We have been providing some (also unpaid) advice to the founder, as we really liked the concept of this vehicle as an alternative transport option for RVers. And we really like seeing how committed they have been to ensuring the packages make life EASIER for RVers.... initially we found the hauling to be a hassle, but in providing feedback on needing a better solution that is easier to load and also doesn't damage the RV, Flux stepped right up by offering the Mototote (which works great). This may be hard for you to believe, but we genuinely like the integrity of the people behind this company, and their Flux electric moped, and we're happy to share it because we feel it will offer a great, affordable solution for a lot of folks. Happy 4th!

    As someone who RVs full time & has owned many motorcycles, I'll stick with a real gasoline supersport motorcycle. Those tiny bikes are extra dangerous and don't have enough speed to get out of the way of the thousands of people who enjoy killing motorcyclists. These electric bikes are best for gated retirement communities and people who don't have the skills to ride a real motorcycle. This video looks like a paid commercial. Like most electric motorcycle companies, odds are it will be out of business within a few short years and you won't get parts for it.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

      As a former sport bike owner myself, I understand what you are saying about performance and distracted drivers. But, I have a very different approach and purpose for riding our Flux electric moped. I almost exclusively ride it on back roads and light traffic, as it was intended, and feel quite safe on it in those conditions. There are some very high power electric motorcycles out there for much bigger bucks, but they don't provide the same solution that this lightweight moped does.
      As for your comment about electric motorcycle companies going out of business. Flux has been in business for 13 years. So... they are not one of those short lived companies you are talking about. Ride safe. -M
