i find it funny that blizz made only two faction game with 90% identical units and they still coudlnt balance it because of bloodlust :D:D
They needed to add auto-heal to Paladins - yes, it is proven a much weaker ability, but for most (casual) players the need to micro the bloodlust vs auto-cast of heal would've balanced that out )
Yip, they made a mistake there.
Undoing damage isn't the same as twice the damage.
On paper, it sounds perfectly balanced. In reality, the paladin player needs to be perfect in skills.
The magic cost is off though, but I forgot by how much. Bloodlust should cost more magic.
@@X3MgamePlays dunno the % dmg of bloodlust (100%?¨) but it could be just lowered to balance it

Also, armor is subtracted after the bloodlust is applied.
@@X3MgamePlays Actually, Bloodlust triples Ogres damage. It doubles both normal and piercing damage and, at results, Ogre deal triple damage.
LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!! I really thought the turtles would beat the destroyers, as the copter couldn't reveal them all at the same time, especially once they'd encircled the destroyers...but the weakness of the turtles came out quickly as the circle began to close and the copter could reveal them without having to travel as far. Wow! Loved it!
LOVE THESE VIDEOS TOO!!! I picked all matches correctly except for "Alliance vs Grunts & Beserkers" and "Death Knights vs Paladins". One's Warcraft instincts get really challenged by these matchups. Oftentimes it's good to go with the side that seems like the obvious underdog (especially in terms of costing less resources overall).

This might sound sadistic, but I love how the OM's Bloodlust battle cry blends so well into the sound of peasants dying.
WC2 has a lot of great sound design. Especially the soundtrack.
Still impressive 50 ogre magi kill 819 peasants. Couldn't say I was surprised by the pally/dk fight though.
yeah that was 200 units against 200 of their hard counter that can 1shot them...

If half of the DK mob used death and decay it would have been GG for the Paladins.
So many of these fight club fights, come down to the auto-tactics of the units. For instance, in that last battle where the alliance fought the horde...the archers were dispersed throughout the melee units...but if the melee units had led out, and the arch had stayed back behind them, the result may have been different. Though bloodlust is OP as hell.
As a spectator in the fighting pits of Azeroth, always put your gold on the bloodlust ogres.
You want that though because otherwise they can't support the melee fighters against the demons. Blood lust just too strong

also the heros vs grunts and berserker one is only working due to the bottleneck, correct positioning of the healer in the second row and the full mana from the beginning for kadghar to cast blizzard...
I love these. It seems exactly like a way I could have entertained myself for hours as a kid.
Lost: chose Ogres
Won: chose Paladins (AoE and toughness > spellcaster not using their best spell >.>)
Won: chose Destroyers, but was nervous near the end there
Won: Danath unstoppable. Everyone thinks Lothar's death was your fault, Turalyon, just like last time.
Won: that many ogres with backup cannot be denied.
Before seeing the first one the question "Will the ogres attack fast or will they hesitate after a killy?" This will make a huge difference on targets that die quickly. I think ogres would have won if they attacked faster.
1000 peasants vs 50 ogres though. They survived with aout 18% remaining. I only chose the peasants because I wanted to see them win.
For the heroes one, I was team horde at first but when I saw the position and the choke, I changed teams.
Never doubt ogres mages so I lost on the first one, and also lost betting on turtles.
I lost on turtles. Really expected their invisibility to be more powerful since it was just 1 flying machine.
Otherwise I won on the rest. The last round: The horde had better units in general. I am surprised the alliance held out for as long as they did.
The re-targeting speed seems to be the most detrimental aspect for any small vs large group setups. The ogre mages could probably have easily killed the peasants if they didn't take more than a full second to target a new one.

Hi STU. Love your videos, you inspired me to play BEYOND THE DARK PORTAL campaigns. I’m up to final mission of both human and orc. Forgot how much I loved this game.
I love how Paladin skills are so powerful, but since those require so much clicking compare to cast bloodlust on something, slap it in its bumm and send it to kill stuff with Ogre Mages, are mostly useless.
It would be nice if Warcraft 2 had autocast for Paladin skills, like those in Warcraft 3.
Still doesn't quite compare even if the Paladins had Autocast; the AI isn't restricted by APM, and Paladins STILL lose to Ogre Magi, and it's not even close.
@@Blazieth Probably Bloodlust should cost at least twice as much mana or simply give smaller bonus.AND be only self cast. Also do not forget that runes-mines are also crazy powerful.Use it in front of enemy army and you get a free kill. Probably Exorcism was mant to make more even battles of Knights+Archers+Mages vs Ogres+Berserkers+DKs by making Mages in such battles most important units, but it requires so much micro. Still it would be fun to see such battle, where most dragons are polymorphed, rest lose badly to high damamge and range archers, most DKs are exorcised and then Ogres try to massacre rest with their bloodlust.

OH MY GOSH, ITS MARVELOUS. The Last Fight with 60 FPS and 1.25 speed was soooo smoooth, soooo spectacular, soooooo BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for the video. We need more, definetly more WC2.
The Fight with the Destroyers and Submarines was slightly unfair, but still the Ships has won the Fight.

At this point we should think what would actually beat ogre magis and their bloodlust - because those guys win every time. They only lost to peasants!

I love some of these sweeps like the paladin one, cause it's just like yeah 134 remaining, honestly what did you think would happen? Also that fight was cool as fuck because they don't just do exorcism as soon as they're in range the do a bunch at once when they're close.
All I have learned from these videos is that Ogre Mages with the auto-cast bloodlust are OP as hell. Put them up against any similar cost army that they can actually auto attack, and they'll win. Prove me wrong in the next fight club.
Similar cost mages with blizzard will crush them.

That horde vs alliance army was brutal for that last group of rangers. It was pretty obvious the ogre-magi would win but I underestimated just how fast they could plow through them. Blizzard really never thought bloodlust was OP?!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Destroyers and LOVE THIS MADNESS!! However the horde and Alliance match was COMPLETELY out of balance once you added Ogre Mages it was OVER!! That was B.S. and totally one sided :( Add Dwarven Mortar teams and gryphons and it would be much more balanced! :D MADNESS!! :D
these are the kinds of epic fights I wish I could have seen as a kid playing this game.
at first I thought the peasants were going to be destroyed, but it wasn't too different a match up as the Ultralisk vs SCV fight a few vids back. The naval battle? That one was a toss up, I couldn't really predict which way it would go since it was hard to tell which side's ships were sinking faster

К тому же еще одно преимущество это заклинание Магов-огненный щит и невидимость. Что на это могут противопоставить Рыцари смерти.
So what did we learn? Bloodlust beats everything except peasants.
Suggestions.
Mages vs Death Knights, both only using their starting spells (Fireball vs Death Coil).
Mages (Casting Blizzard) vs Ogre Mages (Casting Bloodlust). Lets see which factions best spell is better.
lothar having a custom speech thing always threw me in the base game, he is in it for 5 seconds before being killed. I was so proud the time I could actually type "It is a good day to die" fast enough to keep him alive.
I was thinking I must be missing something with DK's vs Paladins, or it's just going to be an exorcism bloodbath. It was just a bloodbath.
Also, when I used to play WoW I generally got to drop BL in the raid, and I liked to always say "WRBBL UURBBBBLLL Bloodlust". Memories.

The Paladin/DK fight was ridiculously one-sided. I knew how it would end. A lot of people don't know the massive range of Exorcism. It's only 2 points shy of Death and Decay. That plus the fully upgraded melee attacks virtually guaranteed victory from the start. If it was say, 50 Paladins versus 100 DKs, that might be a bit different.

I remember trying to use cheats against some map's ai, thinking I was invincible. Then they whipped out spell casters, and still trounced me. My lack of skill was very apparent back then.

All war battles were won by the Alliance except for the last one cause the Horde have the BURNING LEGION daemons with them plus the OP Ogre Bloodlusts.
First battle is why peasants learned how to fight as militias in WC3.
There was no surprise of the outcome between the Paladins vs Horde DKs at all. Not even half of the paladin numbers were killed.
The Alliance heroes vs the army of orc grunts and forest trolls is awesome! Of course Khadgar did most of the damage. Danath is a one tough soldier! Alleria is the best High Elf Ranger of all time! Uther and Turalyon being major healers.

I love your work! 13 year old me would have killed for a trigger editor back in the day. This was the first game where I could create my own maps, and I loved it. But the AI really didn't leave you with too many interesting options
Alliance heroes vs Horde was interesting. If 7 heroes can beat army, so its logical that 25 heroes in WoW raids can beat any boss of demons, dragons and da Dark Gods)
And yet dis combat Heroes vs Horde looks like standart mission in Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors games

Paladin/DK matchup is the easiest choice I've ever made.
My predictions:
Fight 1: ogre win by landslide
Fight 2: paladin win by landslide (since DK do 50 to primary target+10 to secondary damage per death coil, you need 2 direct hits for 1 kill while pally can oneshot 1 dk with full mana)
Fight 3: Turtle win
Fight 4: alliance win
Fight 5: horde win
Seems like I caught a lot of people off guard with the turtle vs destroyer fight!

Hi Stu! How did you get that AI update plugin working? I think I've found it but for the life of me I can't get it to run in game. It's annoying because all the computer does is the old crap of building turtles on sea maps and never attacking with anything else lol. I have googled and googled and no one seems to have an answer on how to install the mod.
You should probably try asking on the Warcraft 2 Server discord, all of the modders are on there. I got my plugin files from edo directly, so they might be different from what you've downloaded!

@@StuGames Honestly if Reforged doesn't remove the unit selection cap like how Starcraft II does it it's not worthy to me anyway. Command and Conquer never had any unit selection cap so there was no excuse for it to exist back then either.
Peasants would have won better if they penetrated the circle when the first gap opened, and attacked from within and without... position is important with those numbers.

1_52 What does the Ability Exorcism do? I never understood it.
It damages undead specifically: Death Knights and skeletons. It has quite high range, very useful in few campaign missions, since you can scout with flying machine and kill deathkinghts from afar.
