A few aural and visual details from Berwick Speedway. As you can hopefully see, it's a proper grassroots sport with a lot of passion, skill and hard work from all involved. And while I'm not a fan per-se, I do find it intriguing, somewhat scary and admirable. GO BANDITS!!

@@80eightReviews My talent skill and bravery will no doubt impress you for life Phil. It went a bit wrong that day but after a sherbert fountain and some love hearts I was fine, if not a little flatulent.

I am sorry , I don't think I have had a bike with a chain that well cared for since I took the Street Scrambler home new from the showroom (Oh and when they had to put a new sprocket and chain on from so much abuse ,,, The tension between the slide they get and the grip of going forward in the turn has alway amazed me .Its like riding on a knife's edge between High Side and Low Side ..So cool ... If you could just get them to go in the other direction you could take up the sport . Maybe not .. Warm regards , Guy
Good evening Guy, how are you doing? Yes, those are very clean chains indeed and like you I’m a bit rubbish at keeping them clean. I once did the old paraffin and brush thing and got bored halfway round…I also still get confused as to whether O-Ring chains actually need oiling…There’s some great bespoke engineering on speedway bikes - I imagine blokes in brown overalls making things from scratch, using strange lathes and tools and drinking lots of strong tea.
“The tension between the slide and grip going forwards” - great phrase that Guy! They seem to me to be skirting on the edge of disaster at every bend and to be honest, whatever direction they go in, my good leg isn’t going to help 😀 I’m not sure I could ride one in a straight line…I think once you get in your head that they are kinda defying the laws of physics, that’s it, your done. A bit like bumble bees can only fly because they believe they can 😉

Speedway is a great motorcycle sport and if you have not seen it live, make a plan to sometime soon.

Proper racing! Methanol fuelled engines & no brakes, just don't stand on the corners. The old MK Knights track is now a housing estate, sadly.

I wonder if the inhabitants are still finding fragments of shale in their gardens?
Do love a bit of methanol though - I’d paraphrase ‘apocalypse now’ but I don’t have the right hat.

Afternoon! You know what? I couldn’t agree more / especially when sideways going into a corner. On dirt, with a bike with no brakes and a tank full of methanol 😀. It doesn’t bear thinking about!
