Momotaro and Gentaro started fighting as soon as they entered the room.
There is food in the room, so Momotaro often gets angry at Gentaro and Kintaro.
Kintaro tries to stop them.
In the past, Genki would stop Momotaro and Gentaro when they fought, but recently that has become Kintaro's role.
Don't worry, the fight ended quickly.
The zookeepers opened the other room, so Gentaro spent more time there.
Kintaro was going back and forth between both rooms.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

They always chase around and poke at gorillas in conflict. That is just being a gorilla and is no harm to him at all.
You're correct. He's at the age where he needs to be moved now. Here in the UK, Twycross Zoo arranged for our beloved Lope to join a bachelor group in France. It's the best thing for the black back and his family, even though we miss him here in England.

People need to stop and think as well as realise this isn’t something easy to do. I can bet that Kyoto zoo has been trying to organise this for a long time. I’m guessing they’re even thinking ahead for Kintaro. People need to stop thinking it’s an easy solution. Those who are in charge know what they are doing and understand how the process works better than we do.

@@thesummerof1968 Nobody is pointing fingers at anyone for this fight; instead, they are pointing out that Gentaro is growing up fast and very intelligent but is also bored. He's at a tough age because he naturally wants to assert his dominance and show off his strength, but when doing this, it disrespects his father. Gentaro must gradually start to live alone, then transition into a bachelor group until he reaches his full silverback status. Only then will he be able to have a wife (hopefully Annie) and begin his own family. The original commenter is correct.

Actually, Momotaro and Gentaro have been getting along quite well. Once in a while they have a scuffle, but really, there doesn’t seem to be any urgency right now to separate them. I would love to see Gentaro have his own mate. He is so handsome and intelligent , and his personality is gentle. Those are good traits to pass on to another generation. I just wish the zoos would make a serious effort to find a home for Gentaro where he can start his own family.

@@PowerScissor I'm not sure I ever saw a video of young Gentaro breaking up fights between his dad and mom. But that doesn't mean it didn't happen of course. Personally, I never saw one. I'm just saying right now Kintaro is a peacekeeper and I absolutely love him.

But I'm basing my original comment on the fact that I've yet to see a male gorilla grow up and not have quarrels with both parents. They become teenagers just like humans, and get grumpy over anything and everything.
Kintaro could be different, but Genki will be very elderly if still alive, and Momo pretty old so they won't be able to keep him under control when he goes through it...and they just about always do.

its the only situation whre gorillas really get angry, food. as soon as the silverback got rid of his hunger, he gets calm and relaxed. its the nature of gorillas, they really die fast when they dont get their quantum of food in time. they know it, thats why they fight. its their nature, its a survival instinct

Yes, and given how close this incredible family is, that is precisely what the zoo is concerned about. When Momo was really sick, I remember that Gentaro and Kintaro were so distraught and anxious about him that they both stopped eating. It is a difficult decision. Although Gentaro is developing quickly and is highly intelligent, he also seems bored. Though it is disrespectful to his father, at his age, he naturally wants to demonstrate his strength and assert his dominance. This is such a special family, and I sincerely hope it all works out...
Oh yes! Let them all go to family counseling and strive to get along. 😂 These are gorillas. So stupid to think they’re a regular human family. Gentaro needs to be moved before one of them gets hurt badly. That’s why there are gorilla bachelor groups and he needs to go. I know the keepers do their best, but this enclosure doesn't compare to the Shabani or Haoko situation, at best it is not adequate, and at worse resembles a cell. Gentaro looks miserable and sad. Tension can rise between Shabani and Kiyo, but they have space to cool off. Beautiful Gorillas, but environment needs attention, not just additional small room

You can tell that Gentaro was feeling frisky and wanted to start trouble. I really think he is playing around most of the time. The way he hit the ball and ran like it was a game makes it obvious to me. He’s a big guy but very immature still. I don’t think he’s ready for a family at all. Maybe a bachelor group though.

The is unacceptable, to the point that i find it difficult to watch, they knew Gentaro would grow up eventually , they had 12 years to sort this out, what kind of preservation of the species is this? There’s a channel showing two bachelor gorillas together, They get along great as well as a little bickering mostly play fighting with someone their own size who isn’t their dad. It would be great if Gentaro have that. Genki says in my next life I’m having sweet little girls lol.

looks like all the food was still hanging and it was a dominance display by dad. Do people really think that Gentaro will have less conflict in a bachelor group? They will do exactly the same thing or way way worse. As he grows he and dad will continuosly have to maintain their dominance rank. Saying he should be a dad now at 12 years old is just wrong. He is still growing up.
Exactly,people forget they fight also in bachelor group. Gentaro may get a worst fate with other young silverback.
Blackbacks fighting in a bachelor group is nothing new-that's the point, to learn from the others. After a time, some are placed as silverbacks to form their own families. Other bachelors stay together having never had a troop. I'm sure you know this. The longer Gentaro stays, the more chances Genki and Kintaro are in danger.

@@gregsutton2400 for Genki and Kintaro's sake, they can get hurt with Mo and Gentaro fighting for dominance...best his aggression to be used against males in bachelor group, like with Kiyomasa....too bad they don't have a place specifically for this as they do in other zoos. It's unnatural enough to still be there, and dangerous for the other members' safety.

I truly believe it is gonna get worse the longer you wait to separate these two. Gentaro will be an awesome silver and he is so beautiful and growing by the minute. I cannot wait for the day to see him with a wife. He has been taught well but I love his sensitive side as well.
