Honestly I think they should add Amy and Rouge. Amy because she essentially completes the group and acts as a love interest. Rouge because she could be written as a very good obstacle, maybe even stealing the master emerald. Also it would be a bit cool to see glimpses of the other characters by getting to see Sonic’s home planet and the people living there.

I don’t think Amy and big would be assisting robotnik because it wouldn’t make sense, Amy showing up after hearing of a hero so she can find him would be a better idea, for big to show up would have to include chasing after his frog froggy, I don’t see big to be a mean person but I do think metal sonic would be assisting robotnik and as for shadow he would change sides at the end like he usually does

Honestly aside from Shadow, the only character that would make sense to add would be Rouge. There aren't a lot of clean ways to incorporate the basic elements of SA2 without her involvement, especially with how the films have already made the basic story an impossibility.

If Shadow is involved Rouge definetly has to be. She has always been his morality compass(besides Amy) and often is seen working under the goverments involvement as a spy and thief. My question is how they all plan to show up. Shadow is obviously hidden in goverment locations(made in space above Earth then podded to Earth), but how common are the teleport rings? Longclaw having a bunch makes sense because she was the gaurdian of the master emerald which could excuse Knuckles cuz of his echidna ancestry and probably sensed the chaos energy to find Eggman. Tails found Sonic with his nerd technology and used a ring to travel. Amy isn't a techie and Rouge needed a radar to follow the emerald signatures in SA2 so how will they explain Rouge and Amy traveling across the universe to get to backwater Earth? Big has always been a weird anomoly just showing up wherever SEGA decided he needed to be for the plot and him being oblivious basically gives him a free pass cuz he can just say he doesn't know how he got somewhere he was looking for froggy.
Amy can be written out pretty easily. She only does three things, break Sonic out of jail, get used as bait for Sonic, and remind Shadow of Maria's real wish.
You can just have Tails or one of our already established humans fill these same roles. Like I could see that little girl who gave Sonic his shoes doing the last two.

I don't think adding more characters would be a bad idea. I actually think it's a GOOD thing. The one thing I wanted since after the first movies release was more Sonic Characters, and we got that with Tails, Knuckles, and the sneak peak for Shadow. Adding more characters and potential antagonists would really beef up the SCU, and that's just what it needs to make a blowout.
I have a feeling that the Mario movie did well mostly in part due to how they had the whole universe of Nintendo characters thrown into it (i.e more than just Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser.) And went the full CGI route rather than the live-action CGI for Sonic.
This next movie should give debuts and screen time to a whole bunch of characters that, at some point during it, you'll probably forget some of the humans even exist in the middle of all the action.
I agree! The ONLY issue i have with them adding so many Sonic characters is that its's going to take away from all the human interaction scenes. I would prefer the human scenes to not exist at all but we know it's going to be in there whether we like it or not so at the very least, they need proper attention to not be awful.
I do think adding more characters could be a really good idea, but I don’t think they should overdo it. I think introducing no more than 2 characters per film is a safe play. For Sonic 3, I’d be happy with JUST Shadow and Amy.

Fun Fact: Shadow the Hedgehog is actually a pretty popular game. The Canon parts of the story where written really well. Plus fans really want a shadow the hedgehog 2.

The live-action Sonic films are the title anthropomorphic animal's actual origin story before he swapped dimensions for his earlier shows and films. The first two are finally bundled together and Sonic was brought to life with photorealistic computer animation on Valentine's Day. I mean Bigs not the worst character, but besides seeing him randomly fishing like you do in other games it would just be weird for him to have a significant story function in the movies when there are much more important characters that still need to be introduced. Depending on how they plan to do the movie the only time Big had a decent plot importance was the introduction of Chaos from Sonic Adventure DX and if they try to cram Sonic ADV DX and Sonic Adv 2 into the same movie thats just gonna upset everyone. If the main Boss is Perfect Chaos fans will get mad at the weird breech of timeline disruption with Shadow being included too early. If Big is just fishing like he does and randomly finds a chaos emerald while looking for froggy and eggman has froggy I can see him making a trade, but besides that? Seems like a waste of CGI time. They established a bit of creative use with Tails backstory(found it a bit weak storywise) and Knuckles not being the guardian of the Master Emerald(LongClaw) so how they establish Shadows backstory and Amy's involvement is going to be very important. Especially Amy for me. I expect edgy Shadow, but Amy Rose has had massive changes from Sonic CD to the IDW comics showing her slow progress from princess peach character to responsible leadership role. Will we meet a helpless Amy or will we have the Amy who gave Shadow the Maria speech onboard the Ark before fighting the Biolizard? Will they kill off Shadow at the end or will they establish a G.U.N in the US goverment and possibly set up for a Sonic 06 Silver introduction? So many ways they can please or annoy fans XD I don't envy the writers struggles right now.
I could see them introducing shadow in their equivalent SADX instead of gamma, cut to a shadow centric movie follow up that has the events of SA2 and the true timeline of shadow the hedgehog overlapping

I hope they write shadow the hedgehog like they did in his first game sonic adventure 2 and not the shadow the hedgehog game, they just made him from a cool mostly quiet character dealing with trauma to an angry edgelord with a gun, shadow was never angry in sonic adventure 2 he was more so sad and kinda stoic, I much prefer the version from sonic adventure 2 and I hope they take more inspiration from that games story than any other game or both adventure 1 and 2, I hope they barely take from the shadow the hedgehog game
Shadow in his self titled game actually is a lot like the SA2 version. The canon portions of the story are written like the SA2 one. I doubt they'll mess up shadow.

I don’t mind if it’s not for kids. Im still gonna watch the movie. When I watched sonic 2, mom saw 16+ warning in Amazon prime when we started watching it. Mom was fussing a lot about it, but I told her that this was literally a cartoon movie almost. I’ve literally seen many scenes which was inappropriate. (Especially that kissing scene, but I covered my eyes cause I would see that scene on my dream)Like I literally watch murder mystery movies.
It would be a good movie if there is Amy and Shadow. I’m thinking that shadow would make a truce with sonic,or be dead or something in the end I think-

I can see _Amy_ coming in as a love interest for _Sonic the Hedgehog_ at this point in the film franchise. I think it would be smart to introduce her team- *Team Rose,* which consists of herself, _Big the Cat_ and _Cream the Rabbit_ along with her Chao. It would be cool to see a little friendly competition between *Team Rose* and *Team Sonic* fighting against _Shadow the Hedgehog_ and HIS team: *Team Dark,* which consists of _Shadow the Hedgehog,_ _Rouge the Bat_ and _Omega the Robot._
And so we smoothly move from the events of Sonic Adventure 2 to the events of Sonic Heroes. How will we return Chaotics? And the events of Sonic 2006 will also be with time travel and ... What is the result with the absence of events that led to their absence? And then we'll go into the era between modern and classic...Sonic Generations, Forces... Oh well...
I hope SonAmy will be in 3rd film and from what read SonAmy is canon now so maybe we might see that in it

I'm not really interested with big the cat, but I would like to see them try to do a new take on Amy and Sonic's relationship.
Like Sonic would like to try to find a girl to have something like the parent figures have, but after trying a bit of dating with Amy realizes he's not ready, but Amy is still obsessed, leading to the type of relationship they have in the series.
