Welcome [BACK] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Tarja was great at what she does. Anette was great at what she does. Floor just does whatever the hell she wants to do and kills it every time.
I wish she'd want to do more opera oriented singing with Nightwish, especially older songs. Once you've gotten accustomed to how a song sounds, it's often how you want it to sound. Really hope they'll bring Passion And The Opera and The Riddler to their live repertoire, with Floor going full opera.
and that is the one and only truth! Without Tarja Nightwish would not exist nowadays i am sure, and without Anette´s Studio albums they weren´t so successful (in europe,USA don´t know them)

Almost all of the 82,000 crowd had never heard Floor Jansen sing with Nightwish. With the band 10 months and singing 15 songs all written for previous two singers. By the way Floor is married to Hannes the drummer of Sabaton. And in a recent performance of this song she held that last note for 12 seconds !!

Floor Jansen the Queen of metal ❤️😎is a classically trained and a professional voice coach with at least 20 years experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward, and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon live shows and a Dutch reality show beste zangers 2019, and 2021, awesome 😎

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. This was pretty much my same exact reaction I had the first time I heard them 6 months ago. I was absolutely SHOCKED!!! I now have like 4 of their songs on my permanent playlist. Personally I think she's the best female lead I've ever heard in my life. Just wait until you hear more

Wacken has some of the best sound engineering on this planet & it shows in the live recordings made there. Plus the post-processing is also top notch. Everything from Wacken sounds, well, as good as the band will ever sound :)
Seems like they changed quite a bit. The 2018 Wacken nightwish show sounds awful in comparison to 2013.
Your reaction is the same one we all had the first time we heard that performance. Floor sings like a choir of angels all by herself.

Nightwish, also leadsinger floor has got a really huge fan- com, also in germany... She is one of the best singer ever, that the whole rock industry have... She can sing, whatever she like...everything is clear, the quality is amazing..... Wacken is the biggest rock festival on earth... A little place, 1hour far from hamburg, with 2000 people live, is for a few days the middle of the rock world.... More than 90.000 fans visit that gigs... Every night..... Thank you for this fine an rather funny reaction! Floor had been only 10 months with Nightwish and not even a official member during that epic Wacken Open Air 2013 concert. She had to learn the set very quickly because Anette had to leave during the concert tour in USA. Wacken 2013 concert was great in every way. This Ghost love Score version is maybe the best of all and many other songs too.

This is only the start with Floor Jansen. Shes so good. Try looking for her performances on Beste Zangers 2019. Its a dutch TV show where singers sing each others songs (or songs that mean something to them). She does pop, rock, opera and all the other singers are shocked because most hadn't heard her before.

This is the by far the best song ive ever heard in my entier life, and ive heard many really good ones. I am one of those that found Nightwish in the late 90-s, while Tarja was still singer, and is since then a part of the Nightwish army. And even though she was a good singer, she was their original singer and all that, she dont even come close to Floor. Ive had the luxury to see them both live and Floor is BY FAR the best singer they ever had. I would even go as far as to say shes the best metal singer thus far, in my opinion. You say during the video "just imagen beeing there" While i wasnt in Wacken at that time i did se them live this summer in finland where they also did this song and the reaction I have hearing them is very similar to yours, chills, tears, laughter, singing, headbanging. :D

Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6)
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken ( pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.
