I love this characterization of Optimus so much. He's kind and gentle enough to apologize to the doe he stepped on and talk to Spike about family, but he's also decisive and brutal enough to smack Skywarp senseless with his own arm. Truly the epitome of being strong enough to be gentle 🙌🙌🙌

This is the best characterization you can do for Optimus
There are two references to the Gundam franchise:
1.When Spike charges into the battle between Optimus Prime and Skywarp, the panel is framed to resemble the famous shot at the climax of Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket where Alfred Izuhara tries to intervene in the battle between Christina McKenzie's Gundam ALEX and Bernard Wiseman's Zaku II.
2.Similarly, the scene where Optimus rips off his arm and uses it as a flail against Skywarp brings to mind Shiro Amada's Gundam Ez8 doing the same against Norris Packard's Gouf Custom in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.

I agree, Cliffjumper getting hurt made no sense.
I like the idea of the Deceptions taking control of the Ark and Optimus's trailer having everything they need to make do on the run, a field kit including a portable med bay makes sense in a 4 million year running war.
Reminds me of the ending of the Terminatior crossover, where the T-800 bombed Teletran 1, and I think took out Ratchet and support staff, maybe that was this writers inspiration too.
That or he played Subnautica. If they start fabricating bases and equipment later, it's definitely the latter.
Yeah I liked that too, I think it was genius to make Optimus's Trailer more useful.
What Skywarp did is very new, I never seen him do that even in the g1 show

Yes he had a teleport ability but never used it in this way on the show
3:18 Is it just me, or does Cliffjumper look too small? Like a minicon. He would need to crouch and walk in sideways to enter that door (like Bumblebee did in the reboot movie). Another thing I realized when Sparkplug shot Cliff off his feet, that shouldn't have happened considering that TFs are extremely heavy. Cliff probably weighs around a few thousand pounds.

I am loving the action in these comics and liked how they portrayed Skywarp’s abilities! I am eagerly awaiting for Wheeljack, Arcee, and Megatron! I can’t wait for issue 4.

After seeing how Skywrap special power in action. It’s give me hope we will get to see more from other transformers characters with special abilities. Like mirage Hologram ability being used like Naruto’ shadow clones.
Seeing Mirage do that would be amazing. I hope we see most of them have some special ability, just like the original show.

Seeing Megatron with that arm of Optimus attached to him AND (possibly) converting the smokestack (once the arm is repaired) into a weapon will be GENIUS.
I'm pretty sure that arm was (somehow) converted into a weapon for some sort of Deception tower back in a G1 episode after the Constructicons disassembled Optimus Prime, but I can't remember the episode's name...😭 That's where my idea came from.🤔

I did some very quick (and most likely wrong) research, cliff turns into a Porsche 924. Its only a little over 1000 pounds. Wikipedia said that the force from a 12 Guage shotgun shell is about 2300 ft*ibs. My very rudimentary understanding of physics leads me to believe that the whole scene with cliff getting his shit rocked by spike makes sense.
The only issue with that is Cybertronian metals are for sure a lot stronger and denser than Earth metals.
@GoBeyondComics cybertronians also have the ability to transformer their body and change their molecular structure, so that's probably why cliff got blasted.
