    This “review” (MUCH more than a “review” IMHO..!!) literally *taught me how to use my device*.... thank you!!!
    Your instructions to use the units AND update the firmware were *infinitely* more clear than MiniWare’s own instructions...
    I actually have 2 of the power supply units (AliExpress had ridiculously low priced deals on 11.11 so I took advantage of that, saved *over $100* than going thru Sainsmart, who deffff upcharge these regardless of sale a painful amount...) the only issues I’m having is with wireless connectivity being fickle and in my situation greatly depending on the distance of the control module to the power supply’s (literally only works within a 3 foot range...) this could be due to both my PS’s having verrry similar wireless ID’s (maybe..??) you were verrry helpful in also showing how to access and *change* the address thru a computer of the PS’s, I just have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to what address I should (or should ‘not’...!!) change one of em to..!
    If you have any experience with similar problems or know a potential “remedy” to my problem it would be muchhh appreciated.... BUT, I just have to say that even if you never see this msg or don’t know a solution, it doesn’t matter, since like I said, you have *already been extremely helpful* (!!!) and for that - THANK YOU SOO MUCH...!!
    Keep up God’s work!
    Cheers

    Excellent rundown of the operation/strengths/weaknesses. Would be nice if it had an auto shutoff if the battery input voltage got below a certain level.

    Excellent overview. Clear presentation. Maybe at the start of these vids more on the overall need for such a device, why it's better then other more basic offerings and what practically it can do in a small lab, etc

    Thank you, this video is very informative. Miniware should put it under "How to use" on the product page.

    Just got mine, but I can't set the voltage any higher than 18.571V, no idea why. Any tips?

    Does it have some kind of logging or interfacing option to be controlled via a PC? That could be useful. Also I don't quite understand if the "wireless address" is accessible from other devices or if it is just for communication between the modules....

      @techydiy  Před 3 lety

      No that I know of.
      Just comms between modules.

    Cool but I'm going to wait and see if they make the rest of the modules to go with it.

    I see quite a few different brands on the obvious china/amazon shops. Are these just re branded versions and not some sort of clones? Is there a difference in quality/accessory?
    Thanks for the review! Love that this one runs on a power bank

    • @techydiy
      @techydiy  Před 4 lety +2

      I doubt they are clones. It really is a very nice power supply with great specs. I also forgot to mention it's silent.

    • @TylrVncnt
      @TylrVncnt Před 4 lety +1

      They’re not clones, e-design is the manufacture/designer and they sell it (along with a few other very high quality products) thru their “MiniWare” brand, which is kinda confusing in and of itself, but the same company for sure.
      THEN, there is “Novel Life” and “Sainsmart” that both *pretend* that they make this thing (and many of e-design/MiniWare’s other products...) and *severely* up charge (IMHO...) their products, for what reason..? “Customer support”..?!
      Hope that clears things up, I was confused at first too when initially trying to buy a TS100 soldering iron a few years ago...
      P.S. - The TS100 is a fantastic iron btw, the MDP can also deliver full power to the iron easily! (Which seems to be a frequent challenge of many users given the wide input V range..) Tho I wouldn’t recommend get this Power Supply *just* for this use... but def a nice little plus for sure
      Cheers

      @@TylrVncnt thanks a lot for your additional information. It helped a lot. Thanks!

    Seems very nice, but the show stopper for me is it's two separate units. Better would be one piece. It certainly is not for me as nice as it looks. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached.

    woah that thing is over 200$ for what a buck converter and a recycled el cheap-o pocket o-scope

    • @techydiy
      @techydiy  Před 4 lety

      It's a fair bit cheaper on Sainsmart's Amazon store. The architecture is buck boost followed by a linear regulator.

    • @TylrVncnt
      @TylrVncnt Před 4 lety

      Has some pretty great features if you need it, very clean and “quiet” (notttt much noise at ALL, esp compared to typical Buck/Boost... much more advanced..) which works great for Power Amps for audio especially (my main use in powering music production modules with a remote battery pack or *any* dc power supply.. no noise and stable..) ie: guitar fx pedals
      It’s not for everyone, ripple/noise don’t matter much for motors or other circuits obviously, but if you need it you need it.
      Check out Marco Reps Vid on this where he does a tear down and breaks down the circuit (spoiler: it’s a very legitimate, advanced and mature bit of kit with no cost cutting BS..) tho “diy’s” particular review is IMHO a much more thorough review when it comes to actually learning *how* to use the thing completely
