  • Do you want to know what you can expect to spend annually on your Boston Terrier? Here are the numbers…
In this video, I cover exactly what you can expect to spend every single month on your Boston Terrier. If you are in the beginning stages of finding your first Boston it is always a good idea to plan a budget for your new puppy.
What is really crazy. You will probably spend over $15,000+ over the life of your Boston Terrier. If you expect your Boston to live 13 years the math works out like this.
    13 years x $1,020 per year ($85 per month) = $13,260 + Purchase Price + Big One Time Items = $15,000 +!

I agree with the comment below--health insurance is a must, especially as your Boston gets older. The cost of treating cancer or heart-disease in a pet is such that most people would have to take out a second mortgage to afford it.

I spent whatever my baby bOy needed. Sometimes I would go to the vets and tell them what I would like them to do (blood work, x ray, aspirate fluid, etc). LoL. When I would call I would say, “ Hi..it’s Charlie’s mom.” They knew myself and my bOy. Charlie was very comfortable with the vets. He didn’t mind going...as long as I wouldn’t leave him. When this whole COVID thing happened...it confused him. I wasn’t able to go in. He would stop and turn around and look for me. I would have to tell him it was okay I wasn’t leaving and to go with the tech. I recently ran into his vet at the grocery store and she gave me such praise for how well I took care of him. It made me feel good. I still miss him so much. It’s been 2 months since I lost my bOy.

Haven’t added up my expenses but my Panda is priceless! They are just like having children! I know I spend a lot because she is so spoiled because I am always buying her new toys every time I go somewhere. Lol! I paid $1600 for her, I paid $210 for her spade surgery, I buy expensive Royal Canin dog food for now at $45 a bag that last about a month and a half or so, I brush her teeth and clip her nails myself. For now we don’t have insurance on her. Crate was $30. I look for sales when I buy treats. I spend $23 a month on heartworm and flea and tick meds. I got her at 8 months old so she already had all her puppy shots. Don’t know what the cost is for her future shots yet but you usually get them every 6 months or yearly. It’s rather hard to figure out monthly exactly what you spend. But just getting started is a lot though. I bought a crate, leashes, collars, harnesses, dog bowls, brushes, clippers, shampoo, treats, dog food, lots of toys, dog bed, blanket, towel, coats, tooth brush/paste, dog car seat, flea & tick meds, heart worm meds, and vet appointments. She is so great though and worth every penny I spend on her. She’s been healthy so far so no complaints!!!

I have a male Boston Terrier he's 6 years old his name is Harley she is giving us a very difficult time when it comes to eating his food we have him on dry blue dog food for acid reflux problems that's what he was on when we purchased him but he will go two to three to four days until the food goes sour cuz we added little water because he likes the flavor or we will do a little Pate canned food and the dry dog food but he still sometimes will not eat that he is so stubborn he will literally go hungry

You can add some water to moisten his food more, but only give him a proper portion 2x a day. Don’t leave the moist food out for long as it gets a bit spoiled, and if too spoiled will make him sick. Can refrigerate food that’s not eaten. You can also get a good prebiotic to add in, and I also soak lightly small pieces of dehydrated liver mixed in. Good luck!

We buy vetenerian food and it costs 100$/ month that alone. He doesnt like when we cut his nails so we go to the pet shop, 12$, add cookies and poop bags (yes you need to add all that up) and itd around 115 a month id say.

@@BostonTerrierSociety Prescription Diet, t/d dental care. Vet told me that boston have problems with their teeth and my Jack didnt like when we brush them so those are large nuggets that cleans his teeth and reduce plaques and tartar. I buy the big bag and my boston is quite large so he eats the whole bag in a month but any normal sized boston would cost less to feed in my opinion.

Day on day Buddy costs us way less as he’s a terrible eater! I think that’s a good thing though as his flight to UAE will definitely make him a much more expensive Boston!
I really must send you an e-mail and tell you all the “fun” we’ve been having (not) with airlines 🤦🏼‍♀️
A question for you... does Bella still play a lot with toys? Do you still buy her balls and ropes etc.?

$15,000 or $15,000,000 - doesn’t matter. My 4 year old Boston is worth every penny. He’s saved my life (both physically and emotionally) multiple times, and there will never be a thing such as “too much money” that I could spend to ensure Bogart is happy and healthy.

@@BostonTerrierSociety double cherry eye. To start. From 4 weeks old. The vets tried multiple medications. All very pricy. Until surgery was done. Also while playing with his brother he somehow managed to get an eye lid caught on something. Thankfully not damaging the eye ball itself. . But still very costly. Dealing with eyes in general. One of my other bostons had to have grid surgery on his eye due to a rope toy. Having Rottweilers. And mastiffs my entire life . The bug eyes dog breed is definitely more costly in that department. Along with but not experienced by me. The nairs and The palette can be a problem yet easily corrected also. Again costly
