"Angelica~
Elizaa ~
and~ Alexander Hamilton" **THE SCHUYLER SISTERS**
HE LEFT OUT PEGGY
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Peggy: :< well mr Alexander you look very stable in your mirage there. I hope nothing happens to it
Peggy: changes into red dress
Y’know some people say it’s because she was “dead” at the time BUT SHE ONLY DIED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE PHILIP but that’s okay because we got say no to this
**cut to alex wearing Peggy's dress**
Can't believe you left out Peggy... smh
Which one was Peggy, again?
@@twominutemusictheory S I R -
@@twominutemusictheory and Peggy
The best character in my opinion
@@twominutemusictheory engelica😝, eliza😍 and Peggy🙃
When Mariah sings “Helpless” in say no it I’m pretty sure its the same notes Eliza sings symbolizing his cheating on Eliza
That’s a great observation!
I thought about that for a long time glad someone else noticed!!
Yeah, and from that on, Eliza doesn't sing it anymore
also, eliza says "this ones mine" in helpless, then in say no to this maria uses that sentence in an entirely different context. id say its used in a kind of rare way, since eliza's line talks about an important, defintive choice, and maria's is just an easily replaceable line of dialogue in the context of how important it is to the story, but it makes a clever leitmotif still.
Also, the song Eliza sings to Alexander when she tells him she’s pregnant is the same song he sings to her when he does. “But I’m not afraid, I know who I married…” and I cry
EVEN IN A VIDEO ESSAY PEGGY GETS LEFT OUT 😩🤚
She got left out of life pretty so yeah
@@eve_avery💀
@@eve_averynahhhh 💀✋
Y’all say he left out Peggy, the line before was talking about main characters. Peggy said 1 thing throughout the show and that was “and Peggy”
"And Peggy"
"Daddy said to be home by sundown"
"Daddy said not to go downtown"
"It's bad enough Daddy wants to go to war"
"It's bad enough there'll be violence on our shore"
She also has a line in satisfied when thy are repeating what Angelica said: "By your side". She also sings during Schuyler Sisters.
Even if she truly had only a single line, she'd still be a main character in my book. She's ICONIC.
It's a joke
@@aAlyssN The real reason she has so little lines is that in real life she died days before the wedding, so not much info is actually is on her.
@@budget_gandalf wait, what? I heard she died in the same year Philip did?
Lin Manuel is quite the musical genius
Agreed
Facts ❤
For the last time, I have no clue who Peggy is.
Peggy is the Schuyler Sister who wears a yellow dress
That’s illegal
Even if it’s a joke lol
The Schuyler sister that died soon after Hamilton and Eliza’s wedding she also play Mariah Reynolds ( I pray that you were joking )
Who?
jail how dare u
my favorite is that Burr has a whole sing saying “i’m willing to wait for” but in the room where it happened hamilton says “you get nothing if you wait for it wait for it”
LITERALLY it’s one of my favorite things!!!
Lmao
Lmao I love this
Something that’s also crazy is that Hamilton never says the words helpless until “say no to this” All the times that Eliza has been singing that word he never says it back until he cheats which I feel like it symbolizes that he knows what he’s doing is wrong and he’s married but he doesn’t really care for the moment.
It was also foreshadowed earlier in the beginning that he was going to cheat with the winters ball with the line “LADIES, they delighted and distracted him” and in Helpless when he says “My love for you is never in doubt” but his love is truly called into question in say no to this and after too.
I also noticed that Hamilton quotes Laurens’ twice which shows how much he missed his friend when he died
I enjoyed this, it was nice to see someone who noticed these motifs and took the time to analyze them.
Actually, there is a whole long video of a guy explaining all the motifs and how they transform throughout the show, only that it is in spanish (idk if it has subtitles) it's by Jaime Altozano.
It's dooooope👌
Edit: I just checked out and it does have english subtitles (the video)
Do I really need to make a video on why 1) Peggy is not a main character and 2) doesn't have a motif, and was suitably left out of this video...like A LOT of other characters?
This man speaks treason! He must face punishment. 😂
No Peggy is an independent woman more important then George Washington ps: why didn’t he get one
Nope 🖤
JAIL TIME SIR
Apparently lol
Holy cow that's amazing. Didn't even realize how much significance the first few seconds of music had
One thing I can say about Burr.
*The poor guy got roasted the entire musical*
I request this be remade with Peggy included
She’s not a main character, and doesn’t have a motif so it makes sense why she isn’t included
@@marywebb_22 ssshshshshshssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh we love Peggy OK
@@marywebb_22shut up and let Peggy in
There's just so much brilliance in this show, I swear!
I feel like I learn something new about Hamilton every day, and I’m just blown away! Lin Manuel Miranda is truly a genius!
And peggy!
I love art that has so much depth, and so many hidden treasures.
I think it's also neat that Hamilton's starts low, while Burrs is on the treble. It shows that he has a more wealthy background. It would be so interesting to see these two actually having worked together. They'd have been a powerhouse.
Thank you for feeding my hamilton OBSESSION
GIVE PEGGY HER MOMENT 😭
He forgot Peggy 😢
Again, Lin is proven to be a musical genius.
You also hear Burr's motif for the last time at the end of World Was Wide Enough. Things return to that static, burr like sound but they're solemn and somber now. The same old thing, but without the light and warmth behind it. Accompanied by a morose heart beat like sound.
I relation the motif "Rise Up" with John Laurens rather than with Hamilton in my opinion
Hamilton takes a lot of those things from his friends that die or go away, shown in the world was wide enough. But I also correlate “Rise Up” more to John Laurens more than Hamilton
* Angelicaaa , Eliiiza ….*
Peggy: am I a joke to you?
Seriously guys who is this "pegasus" you speak of?
As I read that I heard “Yugi boy” in my head
@@Louis_2568 yuuuugi boy
Wow!! This just proves how incredible and well-thought out Hamilton is ❤
You know depressing it is when the dvd screensaver almost hits the corner but doesn't? That's how it felt when he removed "And Peggy!" like bro my hands were already in the AIR ready to scream that line
Because Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius!
BRO i never noticed this, it adds so much character and it’s a genius!
OHHHH this is so genius on Lin's part omg I love it when people point out cool details like this
It was actually the guy who did the orchestrations and arrangements, I forgot his name though. Alex lacamore I think? But Lin is very good too!
I love leitmotifs, they make everything blend together seamlessly 💜
“AND PEGGY”. She needs her recognition too
I LOVE HAMILTON!!!!!!
In the end, Hamilton didn't take his shot and Burr didn't wait for it
I don’t know what any of these words mean but you have a nice voice so good job 🗿👍🏼
Peggy is waiting…
I read the description, and was mildly winded by those 'wait for it' and 'rise up' lines
It's weird, but I feel like this video is so much better when I watch it *sideways!*
i love musicals because you can go right down to the chord structure and find meaning. so many people put their life’s work into a few storyline musicals and it really shows.
sweeney todd has a similar thing, and my personal favorite is Ghost Quartet which follows a Poe story throughout multiple timelines. SO much symbolism, meaning, intentionality (Ghost Quartet only had 4 actors, and it worked wonderfully), and passion put behind them.
the two themes could’ve been switched before the show premiered and we wouldn’t have been any the wiser, but it would give a subliminal confusion because of the contradictions with the character.
i love music the end.
This is so interesting and makes so much sense.
IM GLAD YOU MENTIONED THIS BECAUSE I ALWAYS THINK ABOUT IT WHEN LISTENING TO THE SONGS. I would love for you to make a full video on this!
Burr’s motif is my favorite though ngl 😍
I love that the motif for Alexander and Eliza is the beginning of "its quiet up town" its also played at the end of "that would be enough" three chords starting descending, then during best of wives and best of women it is only 2 chords doing the similar descending sounds.
I think this symbolises that there was always a third problem with their relationship at the beginning it was Angelica, then it was Alexander wanting to fight in the war willing to die when all Eliza wanted was for him to live to see their child, then there was Mariah, then there was the scandal and eventually leading up to the obvious death of their child, there was always a third issue or problem or tragedy tagging along with them but then in best of wives and best of women this kind of shows they finally got into a place of pure love where they wouldnt let anything else stop them from loving eachother, the two notes together their relationship was strong, and this is what kind of makes Alexander's death hit harder from Elizas pov
Dude rlly be doing that English teacher analysis
Every time I think I understand the depth of sheer genius Lin had in writing this it just goes deeper
Tbh totally expected that from Lin
Peggy should’ve had more in parts in the musical, there’s so much that I found out about her.
While this is a bit of genius musical storytelling by Lin, this is a masterclass in regular storytelling too.
In a book for instance, Your different characters voices and in connection to that your narration of their POV has to be slightly different from each other. This is actually the difference from a good author and a great author
When showing Burr's motif, I heard in my mind "I struck him right between the ribs."
Aughhhh I love itttt!!!!!
In that pic of Alex his face is REALLY built like the real Hamilton
Please do more like this! I love learning about music and how it impacts and tells so much!
"I'M JOHN LAWRENCE AND THE PLACE TO BE-"
"Oui oui, mon ami, je'mapelle Lafayette"
"BRAH BRAH I AM HERCULES MILLIGAN"
Peggy Schuyler be punching air 😭
Imagine Peggy watching the broadway and this in the afterlife being like
"These little A-holes are forgetting about me"
Oh noo my poor girl Peggyy where did she gooo 😭
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS
Omg i love the characters like general motif’s too like
The sisters little piano riff
Or burs “An imagrant, orphan, yada yada”
Or Jeffersons low note then clap and his comedic pauses
AND AND “HERES COMES THE GENERAL!!”
i love hamilton guys
John laurens, peggy 😢
Whyyyy
That was very informative, thanks!!:)
The person who wrote Hamilton is a genius
lin manuel miranda
Me somewhere:*RUNNING*AND PEGGY-
i was surprised that somebody had to point this out and then i remembered not everyone gets as excited as i do about musical character motifs.
WHY ARE YOU GUYS INVADING MY CZcams!? 😭😭😭😭
I can’t escape Hamilton!
Short: Angelica~ Eliza~!!
Me singing along: and peg-
Hamilton: and ✨me✨
Short: the skyler sisters!
I love this show so much. Great video
I need more of this
tbis is why i love music and composers because wow
Omg - LOVE this assessment! 🔥🔥🔥
not sure if this was intentional or not, but:
the song Eliza teaches her son is of course french counting, and it has the same tune as the ten duel commandments
Eliza teaches the French to her son, while Hamilton teaches his son the commandments, and from what I remember, they never count to 10, which is what happened when their son was killed
tl;dr: Eliza and Hamilton taught their son different melodies. Eliza only wanted him to be alive, Hamilton wanted a legacy. Their son died learning Hamilton's melody.
Yeah, I certainly think that was intentional in some way. When Philip is dying he says to his father “I did exactly what you said”, but to his mother he confesses “I would always change the line.”
do eliza’s please!!! she is a gorgeously written character and hearing wlwdwtys and it all coming together? magical.
okay- but why does that make so much sense?
Great Commentary
gods i love this show
It's funny that this came up on my feed because I'm doing a project on motifs for a class
I CANT BELIEVE YOU LEFT PEGGY OUT!
Ugh i wanted this video to be so much longer 😭
i didn't know alexander was a schuyler sister!
I don’t know anything about music but this is GENIUS. I love lmm
sigh this reminds me of a pure literature lesson video my teacher would play
If you always make videos like this I think i need to subscribe:0
Fantastic analysis.
Lin Manuel Miranda is just a musical genius
I really like the details bout this musical
He's giving Peggy the Xion treatment
“Angelicaa
Eliiizaa
Alexander Hamilton
THE SKYLUR SISTERS
“Angelicaaaaaa”
“Elizaaa!”
-“And Peggy“- _“alexander hamilton”_
Woah make some more vids like this this is so cool
Woah! That's so cool!
I watched that play! It was so gooood!
Wow, this makes so much sense!!
ITS ACTUALLY CALLED A LEITMOTIF
Thank you for putting words to the stuff I already knew /genuine
I think it's interesting that Burr's motif utilizes the iii chord. Something that famously doesn't resolve anywhere (in classical music)
This is actually really cool!
I love music theory so much!
lin really is a musical genius
That hamilton motif sounds really good 👍
