    * - Rare John Mayer song
    Notes:
    --
    First time converted.
The tapes of this show were lost for a while and then in storage. Due to the age I had a difficult time getting a clean capture. Some minor glitching in places mostly during the opener (Back To You) and the end of tape 1 which was the main set closer (Neon). That could be due to tape tension issues. The show was filmed in extended mode which is more likely to degrade over time than SP mode. Some white level clipping is also present (on source). That said it's rare/never before shared and thus hopefully a fun watch for John Mayer fans. Converted/Uploaded per the requests in an earlier upload (Comfortable encore from this show).
I did what I could w/ the setlist - if any changes or interpolations should be made/added please comment.
This could be the only video of "Everything is Not Broken". Setlist.fm only lists one other performance of the song (Oct 26th, 2001). An audio-only video on youtube mentions it debuted on 9/17/01 and could thus be about Sept 11th. If anyone has more info on this tune please comment.

15:49. “Oh I have an acoustic guitar too”.
16:05 (starts tuning guitar). “One day we’ll have people, maybe, who will have other guitars, and hand those guitars to us...”.
2001 John I’m happy to tell you you’re right. That “one day” arrives many times and it will include SRV’s guitar tech, Renee Martinez.
    Dream Big. 🎸

Hey, 2001 John Mayer, just so you know, you end up in a band comprised of the former members of the Dead and two other wicked musicians... I know, you didn't see that coming.

I think the two songs are connected.. in the live version of Covered in Rain he sings "come December Lydia left. She mentions something about it being for the best". In City Love he sings "I've got a City Love. I found it in Lydia". So City Love would be about him falling in love with that girl while Covered in Rain is about them getting together and also breaking up. I think, but might mike no sense at all ;)

  • @osuturfman

@David Lightman5 Everything Is Not Broken is about Mayer dealing with September 11th. The first time this song was played (9/17/01) was a Monday, leading me to believe he wrote it the night before in one shot. Thus the line "The kind of clarity that only comes to me on Sunday's shine". He is saying that he thought about it all week and finally Sunday he realized that "Everything is Not Broken". Most likely the impetus from Covered in Rain which gets its melody from an old beat box/guitar riff John and Scotty Crowe used to do in the summer of 2001.

@@guitaristshawnThis. I play in bands and it’s truly a team effort. If you’re just the guitarist or “just the drummer” you have to let everything even out and let the frontman shine! it’s just how it goes. anybody can spot a band member being extra and throwing it off just to “stick out” and that just ruins the show for everybody basically = ego should not exist in band mentality!
