They use the same hinge for both sides thats why one side is upside down.

Nice work. On your comment about the hinge pins being upside down, I’d guess that’s because they probably mass produced that hinge design and just flipped the bracket so they only had to design for 1 side.

This works for 96 and down XJ hinges. The newer style hinges take a different approach! Great vid btw!
97 and down*
@@717Jeepin 97-01 is the newer style hinge. Not this one
@@stevemain3015 nope. 1997 uses the old hinge style. I've got one. Or maybe that's one of the many things that they changed half way through the model year

Good video. I just did mine today but I was only able to do the driverside because passenger side just had some really tight bolts and the T40 just didn´t make it... I am thinking on just cutting the off and buying new ones.
this is awesome man but just one question, have the doors held a seal after a year like this? im thinking of doing this to my 97 xj
For anyone that is having trouble getting the 2 torques bits closest to the hinges all u have to do it close the door and use those 2 holes in the hinges to break them loose using a ratchet and an extension. found this out the hard way and ended up having to cut a few bolt heads off because i was just stripping them trying to use a wrench and torques bit

mines a '97 first year of the newer body style. The 4.0l is a solid engine if you take care of it
ASAP GAMING a lot of them have cracked head problems take off oil cap look for mayo looking substance of n bottom of cap, if you see this run
Its mainly the 98-01 cherokees. I have an 01 Im going to be replacing the head on soon

@@nantucketjeep ....All 00-01 XJs have the 0331 casting head.
It was sometime late in 02 for the Grand Cherokee before they switched to the new casting from TUPY (Brazilian foundry).
You can look in the oil fill and see the casting marks...additionally if you have coil packs over the plugs instead of wires and a distributor it's the 0331.
If the head cracks, oil will turn gray. Best advice is always check the coolant level everytime you put gas in.

Can take the speakers out your door, connect them back to the wires & put them like on the floor or find a way to screw them into the lower side like where your feet are? Idk.. Just a free idea. Just make sure your wires & connecters are covered with electrical tape.
go to salvage yard or ebay and get a cherokee xj speaker bar for the roof
You do realize the Wrangler frame is reinforced to allow side barrier protection without the doors. This is why doors can be removed on Wranglers, because they are not considered a protective part of the vehicle. However on Cherokees, this is not the case. by removing the doors you are removing all of the protection from a side impact and making your vehicle a rolling death trap.
You might want to consider a warning people of this before you tell them to do something stupid because it looks cool.
Viper fukgoogPlus buddy, the XJs are unibody vehicles, and the doors serve no structural purpose. Obviously doors off vs doors on for a side impact, doors on is a better scenario; XJ, Wrangler, or otherwise.
