For all those people having a go because this controller has 'pre installed' scratches they need to see this video. Well done mate. I think this shows the new feature off perfectly. I hope Jazzy Jeff gets to see it too :) superb little mix too.
halcyondaystunes the pad scratches don't sound natural to me, bit robotic, this is great controller for creative djs, but other djs have right to voice their opinion also, scratching is art craft, it takes patience and lots of practise to develop, if we make too many shortcuts then we are taking away the skill level in DJing , everyone will be a DJ it will be easy, that could have an effect on djs looking for club or bar work in future, I'm all for this controller and tech but is it really teaching scratching ?
absolute rubbish. I've been Djing since the early 90's and learnt on vinyl and turntables, I now promote my own events and if a dj asked to play at one of those with this i wouldn't have an issue at all. This controller does not make anything easy when it comes to learning it properly, I've always had issues with things making it too easy so i make sure i learn properly. Most new scratch dj's would be the same. I basically see this as something someone can use to practice scratching for the first time. press the pad, listen to it....play it yourself. The controller is so cheap and you get Serato. I doubt the scratch pads with appear on any other controller.
halcyondaystunes I'm not saying this is not fantastic controller for a new DJ, I'm saying I hear both sides to the debate in the middle , yes I've been vinyl DJ for long time n producer in house & garage scene also, I think this controller is great and yes I would buy it if it had a longer pitch all day long, no brainer!
We're hoping Jazzy Jeff see's it too haha. Glad you like the video though. To add to this thread no way is any new DJ going to stand out as a DJ with this pad scratch mode. It's cool, but it's pretty robotic. There is no swing, flare or unusual timings with the scratch pad. It will never replace a real scratch DJ. I would hope it just inspires new DJs to get into the turntablism side of the industry.
Crossfader yep my point exactly too robotic, and could it even sync to styles like drum n bass etc but I do like the controller it looks very well built and pro features compared to others in its price range, but I'm looking to see what pioneer do with the long awaited and expected RB 2 soon

So it's basically a serato version of the RB

The RB includes a FULL License for the “Pro” software so you never have to pay for an upgrade, this only give you access to BASIC software... Add another $100 if you want to upgrade to Serato “Pro.”

To record this mix and using Serato DJ Lite we have to use an external line in recorder from the RCA master out. It can't be done within the Serato DJ Lite software.

We used the pad scratch mode throughout. Right at the start and for some of the bet juggling parts to showcase it.
