What if we tried to make ads more fun the other 364 days of the year? We started with Groundhog Day! Stephen Tobolowsky keeps coming back for more in the first-ever déjà vu commercial time loop.
@@michaelhafergut-fuchs7381 I have on occasion purchased these chips. I will, on occasion continue to purchase them. These won't change my level of interest in these products but I've grown one step closer to becoming Ryan's new best friend. Don't ruin my delusion!
I love Tobolowsky. I worked on a low budget film with him 10 years ago and he was such a pro; no ego, friendly and when the camera rolled, he gave it his all on each take.
It always warms my heart to hear about actors who are so wonderful and kind. I grew up about 15 minutes from Hollywood and I have heard so many shattering things in my life, now being 65. Thank you so much for your comment and for all the work you must have done that we are not aware of.
This would make an excellent series of Super Bowl ads! You're just watching them thinking, oh, I've already seen this one. No wait, that's not what happened last time. Slowly going crazy with each one...
Brilliant commercial on multiple levels. Great play on 'Groundhog Day' (both the phrase and the movie), and manages to advertise multiple flavors/products while being entertaining!
Phil learned to play piano, robbed a bank, and befriended everyone in town, but Ned is stuck buying every flavor of Lay's.... Ned's clearly in the better loop. (JK)
@@truthedministryTechnically he is in the better loop and shorter loop as well. Lays has roughly over 200 different flavors. Artemis Pebdani absolutly killed it as the casher, Lulu. MAD Kathryn Hahn vibes. Bubbly, confident, and just the right amount of sinister. Awesome casting.
One of the most *meta* ad series ever conceived. What was brilliant about it is that these ads were run throughout a daylong endless repeat of the movie Groundhog Day on AMC.
All this needed was a scene at the end showing him leaving the store and Bill Murray calls out to him. "Stephen? Stephen Tobolowsky?! Stephen Tobolosky, I thought that was you!"
"Now don't tell me you don't remember me because I sure as heckfire remember you! Bill! Murray! Bill the Pill, Caddyshack Bill, come on, buddy, Case Western High!"
This is some ridiculously good marketing. Like I am unironically baffled. AND I want some plain Lay’s now. Actually sold me the product in a clever way, like back in the old days? I love it!
Credit to the producers. They did a great job of making this look like a Pennsylvanian grocery store. I’ve never been to one in or around Punxsutawney, but this is what all the generic grocery stores here look like. Happy Groundhogs day, everybody.
This is brilliant. On so many levels. I love that Stephen Tobolowsky is in this. I love the writing. I love the comedy. I have never been so satisfied with a commercial.
This is great. The change each time is perfect sequencing. Whoever the lady playing the cashier is, she did a terrific job. Thanks for the entertainment. Love Lays.
Kudos to everyone involved in making this. I was watching General Hospital today without knowing anything about this and just stumbled onto the ads. Just brilliant. You guys did put the maximum effort into this. 💯 Now do a Season 2.
It took me a few seconds to recognize Stephen, I'm glad Ryan manages to not only find these old actors who aren't as popular as they once were and get them more mainstream recognition.
@@oh6553 I do not. It's also a good way to let people know he's still alive as there was a small reunion of the Groundhog Day movie cast and crew yesterday with people wondering where he was. He was in one of my favourite That '70's Show episodes playing that strange psych teacher who is fascinated by human foibles. It was where I learned what that word even was lol
Getting Stephen Tobolowsky to do this was a stroke of genius, and I actually watched all eight of these. Mission accomplished

Completely agree, little snippets that pop in every so often. It would might up the switchboard at Lays.
That's an excellent idea
That’s most likely what these are intended for because it works for a long duration broadcast with a committed audience who’ll see all adds.
This is most certainly going to be used for the Super Bowl yeah
Every time Ryan makes an Ad, it’s ALWAYS Super Bowl worthy
