I met Harold standing in line for tickets at Disney World. He was with Erika and his kids and I didn't want to intrude. But Erika could tell I had recognized him. I just mouthed to her that I loved Groundhog Day. She mouthed back, "Tell him!" I shook my head but she urged me on. So when he turned around and noticed me whispering with Erika I said to him, "I just wanted to say I'm a big fan of your films, especially Groundhog Day." He smiled and looked incredibly shy and a bit embarrassed, and just said "Oh thank you." He was genuinely surprised, gracious and humble, as though he couldn't believe me. He then turned around to get his tickets and Erika looked at me and gave me the thumbs up and whispered to me "No one ever tells him!" Well in the video above it looks like everyone told him Erika. You made my day and Harold made every person who saw Groundhog Day very happy. Every movie fan who ever saw a 6AM alarm clock thinks of him.
Such a nice story. Thanks for tell us.
What a wonderful story, thank you for sharing! It made me love Harold and his work just a bit more. ;o)

So nice to see how Bill loves and respects so much his older brother Brian.

Just magical. Groundhog Day is a film that you can watch 100 times and at each viewing you see another element of the film being exposed. It seems like a silly trivial film but it has a very deep human life story weaved into it. The film extended the saying "It's a Groundhog Day" into a phrase used all around the world.
Experiencing Groundhog Day over and over and over you say?
The day after tomorrow
We have that saying too in Germany. We say "und täglich grüßt das Murmeltier!" (that's also the german name of the movie!) It means: "... and everyday, the groundhog is greeting!" Every German knows that saying! :)
And you don't even know about the esoteric stuff in it.
These loserferians love to gobble knobs
I seen gremlins a few times and always missed when gremlin cut phone line and said phone home another Spielberg movie.❤
I lived in Woodstock IL from 1997-2003, well after the movie was made. One Groundhog Day, Harold Ramis came back for the local celebration. He walked us all around the town square and talked about shooting the production in those sites: the deep puddle, the bank, the cafe, everything. It was a wonderful experience to hear the insider view of the movie, from Harold himself. Thank you for honoring him.
That's a once in a lifetime experience
That’s incredible.
"Nancy?!! Nancy Taylor?!!" She's still a babe who probably makes chipmunk sounds when she's really excited.
She dated Newman, he ended it

I love Groundhog Day, but it saddens me when I think about their politics.
Aww that's so sweet and lovely! Happy anniversary!

I wonder if Nancy still makes noises like a chipmunk when she gets real excited. Lol
Nancy aged beautifully!
Every Groundhog day, I watch this classic. Every time I do I see something a little different. God Bless you Harold.
Same. I also laugh at Murray taking the cold shower.
You can tell how much Bill misses Harold & perhaps even see the regret he has that the feud lasted so long & missing out on years of friendship before his passing. Happy to know that they we able to reconcile before Harold left us.
The fact is none of us is innocent when it comes to feuding with friends and family and plenty of people have stopped talking to friends and family over several things in their lives. We all feel like, even if it's in the back of our heads, that there's always more time but when that time runs out, we realize how much time we have wasted. I don't see Bill as a bad guy, neither Harold, they are human. We all are. It makes me happy that they did reconcile before the end and I think that Bill really misses Harold. I think he missed him even when they weren't talking and of course he misses him even now. They had so many amazing times together and that doesn't just go away with a feud. The people we meet in our lives have an everlasting effect on our hearts, especially friends and family. I'm just a dude on the internet, so I can't really speak for Bill, but I don't think I'm off the mark here.
@@creativeguy1138That was beautifully said and extremely profound
Sometimes the hardest part between a personal feud is when both sides are past the anger but don’t know how to reconcile or too afraid to reach out. So much time can be lost in that void of what-ifs.
Sometimes it's less about caring about others and more about himself because bill has always been a joker and I think he always felt Harold would be around forever to entertain his antics but now he's gone and bills older and less relatable relatively to the younger crowd he's become a little lonely and dour it seems.
Yea he has those regrets. They made there peace at the end.
Amazing that a character so memorable in the film is only known as "man in the hallway".
It could have been worse...they could have titled his part pork chop!!!
We've finally lived to the age when Bill Murray appreciates his past roles and movies
They drugged him up with Thorazine prior to the event
Yeah nah.....he's still an irritant to people trying to market his work.
@@StefanMichaels-ut9jgwhy are you being like this?
@@StefanMichaels-ut9jgJealous much lol.
@@wellokayyes1266 It's a joke from Ghostbusters, dude.
Good to see Bill smile without it being in the script.
This was wonderful! I loved getting to hear from Harold's wife. And the recorded greeting from Stephen Tobolowski was so beautiful it made me cry. My only regret is Andie MacDowell wasn't there and didn't send a recorded greeting. She missed being part of something truly special. Thanks to all who arranged this!
My thoughts exactly. Would love to have been there.
Where was she instead?
There's no love lost between Andie MacDowell and Bill Murray. Of course she wasn't there. Not to mention that this is in Chicago (where the Murrays are from). You think she's flying up from the South or L.A. or wherever the hell she lives to....do what exactly? Make some two-second speech at a podium? For free? It's just a movie, guys, it's not the march from Selma to Montgomery, lol.
Way to bring the mood of the room down 9190, I bet you are just a joy to be around.

Groundhog Day is one of the most brilliant and funniest movies ever made! This was fantastic to watch!
Back when movies were still thoughtful, funny and entertaining.
Brians voice sounds as amazing as ever.
Yes, especially when he told the Griswolds he was toying with eliminating the Christmas bonuses. Lol. What a memorable voice! 😢😂
He may look & move differently due to the passage of time, but I was happily moved to hear that strong gruff bellowing Chicago voice.
He'll always be Noah from Wayne's World to me!!!❤❤❤ As a young person I was completely obsessed with that movie. I had a friend that whenever she spent the night we'd watch it at LEAST 3 times.
I can't believe I never knew that was Bill's brother! (If I did, I forgot. To be fair I had a traumatic brain injury in 2022 and almost was never myself again, luckily after a couple weeks I returned, and was hospitalized for a month!)

I grew up in the late 80's and 90's. I grew up watching these guys in Ghostbusters, Wayne's World, Groundhog Day...
Me too, born in 1980. You listed 3 classic favorites of mine too!❤
I didn't expect to watch the whole thing, but here I am. Man, it's been so long since I've seen Brian Doyle Murray, he looks unrecognizable here. I'm glad they honored Harold throughout.

Groundhog Day remains one of my favorite movies of all time. Thanks for posting this tribute to the movie, Harold Ramis, Brian Doyle Murray and “this guy” Bill Murray and all the rest.
Bill did a great job also crediting not just Harold but the screenwriter for a great screenplay.

We watch Groundhog Day every year. It's truly a blessing to have such a wonderful film to enjoy every year. Rest in peace Harold Ramos. 🙏😀
I watched the Groundhog Day movie so many times, i know every word by heart. I would never miss watching it every February 2.
Thanks, Chris Elliott (Larry) and Stephen Tobolowski (Ned ? Ned Ryerson ?) for sending recorded messages, both were funny and heartfelt.

Stephen Tobolosky sang in a band called a cast of thousands, it's on CZcams, guess who played lead guitar? Stevie Ray Vaughan at 14 yrs old. His first studio recording
Bill moving the microphone for his brother was sweet.
Bill and Brian have such great iconic voices
This is so down to earth! This is the entertainment I like. The true appreciation of the works of love and comedy!
I saw this movie in 1993 in a movie theater. After the first day in I caught on to its premise and couldn't stop laughing from that point on. One of the most brilliant films I have ever seen. Bill was perfect in his role and the entire cast were magnificant.
Glad Bill and Harold DID settle things before he passed... just wish it hadn't taken so long.
In loving memory of Harold Ramis
Saw it in 93.Saw it in 24.Still great film.
"Featuring Harold Ramis as The Beaver" - great comedy chops and a great comedy director. He is sorely missed by his friends and the viewing public.
I watch Groundhog Day every year! It's still such a great movie! Bill Murray is a legend!
I love “Groundhog Day”! 👍
I have a great fun fact for anyone that likes Stevie Ray Vaughan. The actor who played Ned Ryerson, Stephen Tobolosky went to school at oak Cliff, the same as SRV, anyways, Stephen was in a band called a cast of thousands, so they made a record for the high school, they didn't have a lead guitar player, so they asked little 14 yr old SRV to play in the studio with them. It would be his first ever recording in a studio, and can be found on CZcams.
My favorite part is - the entire film. Actually the Giant Alarm clock time changing to 6:00! Drinking the coffee out of the pot, dressing like Clint Eastwood, robbing the armored truck....
He looks out the window and it's already light out. The Sun doesn't come up until 7:30 or so on Feb 2.
You said it. Too many amazing scenes to even list.
So great to see these guys still around. This was a pleasure to watch.

Kudos to Chicago Harry for making the bit funnier by actually emerging reluctantly! What a well-spent half hour that was.
Nice to see this. Was lucky to fill in crew on Harold's very last assignment on "The Office". AND way before an extra in "Groundhog Day". Miss that whole comedy era he helped create. What a nice day at Navy Pier. Makes me miss it.
I didn’t know I needed this. My birthday is the 2nd and spent it alone again but this made me warm and is lovely to see the family this cast and crew have built and maintained. Yes, true love is real! Kudos to Harold for bringing this wonderful group of folks together. Cheers!

It's crazy how may times I have seen this movie. One of the few "annual" movies you can't help but get caught up into and watch to the end.
I have to say that I have actually modeled much of my life after this silly, but surprisingly deep movie, created by genius, Harold Ramis. Whether I arrive in a new town or bump into someone who could use a positive word, the lessons I learned from Groundhog's Day have helped me bring cheer and hope to others. Humility, hard work, compassion, and even perfect timing are all things we should practice for the betterment of humanity. God bless Harold Ramis and the cast of Groundhog's Day!
Thanks too all who could attend and to those who couldn't 😢
The Movie stood the test of time and is simply absolutely masterfully made from the beginning to the end. There is a lot of warmth and sweetness in it and everyone who worked on it helped to elevate a cute story to something WAY bigger. And i'm sure Harold would be proud to see this movie still being cherished and appreciated this much not only by the original fans who saw it when it came out and helped it making a cult classic but also the all new generation who recently discovered it and love it just as much. And i do miss Harold a lot. Someone who gave all of us so much joys and laughter and who never forgot his roots and never lost contact to "ground base" so to speak :) This movie still is super popular here in Germany as well, thanks to the amazing translation & dub that was very faithful to the original. 🙂 Thank you all for this wonderful 30th anniversary tribute. @@Sindollx666x Lucky you. I was never able to get any tickets for their shows. But i would personally rather have loved to see them live in the early 80s during their Computerwelt Tour.
Andie is definitely making a statement by not being there and, especially, not even sending a 30-second recorded message. It just makes her look small. She seemed so sweet and kind in the film. Great acting.
She doesn't need these people.
Theres no reason to trash her when you dont know why she didnt attend or tape a message, there are tons of videos on CZcams with her giving interviews on how much she loved working on the film, the cast and how great a person Harold Ramis was.

Try to tell Geena Davis that.
Bill Murray is allegedly a jerk
Not sure about that, but 1) it's difficult to be so famous/"beloved" and truly be humble and 2) Murray did put to bed, apparently, his feud with Ramis (though maybe they made up before Harold's way-too-early death--I hope so).

This is ridiculously cool. Brian and Bill together, Mrs. Ramis...very nice!
This is so special proud to be a Chicagoan!
It's actually an incredible movie and gets better the more times you see it as some of the comedy is very quick witted and moves very fast and elegant and can be hard to catch between the broadsides. Ramis was a genius and Murray did a great job sometimes channeling Buster Keaton in a varied and calibrated performance, probably one of his best.

21:27 Stephen Tobolowsky reprises Phil Conners "hearths and hearts" speech moving everyone with his emotional tribute to Harold Ramis. "Hey, man... you touched me."
I saw the 10 or 12 minute CZcams video of the cast being interviewed and thought it was one of the most clever ways to film a recurring theme in the movie by doing all the takes consecutively. Specifically when he stepped in the ice water pothole. The sky was overcast and to have consistency of the repetition by doing all of the takes of him stepping in the ice water was able to look the same as it did as if it had tepeated a thousand times.
I will celebrate this day from now on in my hometown from this day on. I added it to my calender. Happy Harrold Ramis Day/Groundhog Day to all from here in Scandinavia.

Thank you for posting the whole thing. Seems like every other platform made it about Bill Murray when the day was Harold Ramis Day. Loved hearing the stories about the Zen Master.
Harold Ramis' audio commentary on the DVD of Groundhog Day is one of the best I've ever heard. Very interesting and, with only one person talking, no one is talking over anyone else -- he's enough by himself. AND I always thought that Bill Murray should have been up for an Oscar for his performance -- THAT character could not show any more growth or positive change -- he showed tremendous range in that part.
Being kind is cool
Dope. Rip Harold Ramis.
The first time I watched Groundhog Day, I realized it was, to me, a metaphor for how to be a better person.
