    I've hated maths all my life. It has given me a lot of grief. Turns out that this whole time I've had dyscalculia. I'm great at literacy! I'm attempting the numeracy test in May. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for this video Daniel. I am a masters of secondary education student and a musician. I am worried about literacy and numeracy. I'll be getting tutoring on the numeracy for sure. I will take your advice and look at the naplan tests also.

      Sorry for slow reply, I didn't get a notification for some reason.
      Just read all sorts of different adult texts and you should be fine for literacy. It would be much harder for non native English speakers.
      As for the numeracy, if you have any questions about anything, let me know and I can make a video helping you out. All the best.

    is LANTITE compulsory for early childhood teachers or primary teachers ?

    • @danielgteaching1377
      @danielgteaching1377  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Paul
      It is compulsory for all teachers in Australia (including secondary also).
      Although, I am doubtful whether the influx of teachers that have come from overseas have finished LANTITE tests.
      To simplify though, anyone who wishes to be a teacher in Australia (and therefore studies education/teaching here) will need to pass BOTH the Literacy and Numeracy LANTITE tests during their degree/diploma.

      @paulsharma4807 Před 6 měsíci

      But on multiple sources it mentions LANTITE is mandatory only for primary and secondary school teachers . We international students give exam like IELTS as well so why would we need a lantite test that too for early childhood teaching ?

      Hello there,

    Hey, Daniel, thanks a lot. Can I do the Lantite test with my laptop? As I can see, there may not be enough test centers available in Window 3 and Window 4. Do I have to have a PC if I want to take the test remotely?

    • @danielgteaching1377
      @danielgteaching1377  Před rokem

      Good question. I'm not completely sure about remote options. You would have to enquire with them about that. One would hope that there'd be some flexibility for something that is a prerequisite for students.

      This is late sorry. But I would say yes you could use a laptop as that’s what we used in the actual testing centres. As long as you are able to download the software you will be fine. Just ring them and double check!

    Hi Daniel thanks so much for sharing your insights. What would you say comprised the majority of numeracy questions? I have been watching your videos they have been most helpful so thank you!

    • @danielgteaching1377
      @danielgteaching1377  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Fatima, glad that the videos have been helpful. The questions seemed fairly similar to a lot of the numeracy questions from the acer website's attachment of numeracy practice questions. Fairly simplistic numerical mathematics within worded questions. There were some questions where it was one straight calculation required (simple subtraction for example), while some had a little more complexity to them (such as using subtraction to give a number which then you have to multiply for the final answer. Some questions also involved reading charts and tables to obtain the data required for the simple calculations. From memory most questions only required 1 or 2 brief steps like this. There wasn't really much need for memorisation of concepts or formulas or anything like this, no pattern recognition. Just knowing which of the main mathematical operations needed to be done.
      A resource which could be of some benefit would be books with content of similar ilk to the questions in the test, such as the 'Problem Solved' books by Greg Purcell. The year 5 and year 6 versions are fairly inexpensive and have quite a range of worded questions across a number of different topics. I have no doubt that if someone is able to get 90% of the 'level 3' questions correct, then they will be able to pass the LANTITE numeracy test.

      @@danielgteaching1377 Thank you for your valuable advice Daniel, and I will definitely look into that resource. I only wish ACER would provide a list of other helpful recommendations in addition to their practice material. I'm currently at the half way point of the Mteach and cannot continue until I've successfully passed the LANTITE..wish me luck 🤞

      @@danielgteaching1377 Hi Daniel, I've come across a few questions for example wherein a teacher has 44 students to interview over a certain number of hours consecutively and we would need to figure out the minimum number of sessions required etc. Do you mind explaining how to work that out? Also some questions pertaining to BCE and CE difference if possible? Thanks in advance, much appreciated 😊
