For y’all who say, “This is painful to watch.” To me, this happens to be one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen
Being on the road isn't easy, and Greg is far from the first and he certainly wont be the last entertainer to fall into the "routine". I agree with you Mikey, rather than judge him for being high, Im totally thrilled by this incredible bluesy performance.
It’s REAL. That’s all that needs to be said about it.
Well..even on whatever he's on, he still killed it..and the glitch where he said, "sh.." priceless.. Such a voice..for so many years..lots of great soul singers in the 60s..70s..he was right there with any of them..Please Call Home had to have shaken many..great tune, great lyrics..and a quiet, haunting space framing that voice..RIP
um no. Many many better performances when he wasn't high
@@lyricberlin cant say I've ever seen another (better?) performance of that song, on solo guitar (who knew?), by him, high or not..he delivered...
How anyone can dislike this performance regardless of genre preference is beyond me dude is blasted out of his mind, plays in such a way that the guitar tells it's own equally painful story, and unleashed every bit of insurmountable pain in his heart when he sings. So soulful and beautiful one of the best performances from anyone in the history of time. I prefer this over the album version any day of the week
Amen ❤
Completely captivated everything silent but Greg heartfelt😢
HELL YEAH! THIS VERSION IS WAY BETTER THAN THE ALBUM ONE!
It remains up to this day my favorite ever performance of this song. It's so raw and real. He lost a brother, a friend, he had a failed marriage. He kept being on the road. It ain't easy. I relate too much to this interpretation cause come on we've all been there.. We've all had this moment.
Sail on dear brother.
I am pretty sure he found the Lord later in life, I’m so happy for him. Sad for us because we lost his talent but I can guarantee you he is still playing in heaven.
Amen
Folks don't like to hear this, but, there is a price to pay for such depth, such feeling, and such genius. There are other avenues, but, a lot of the times, folks pay the price by drugs and alcohol. I wish folks would, now, just say, "Thank You! Thank you, Mr. Allman, for your sacrifices that we may hear the best sounding Blues/Rock vocalist in the world." ...and no one knows the depth of pain he felt after the loss of his brother, Duane. Don't be so judgmental. (Rest easy, Gregg Allman.)
Amen 🙏
Brings the blues into the mix
One of my favorites and I don't care what anyone else thinks!!!!
Greg in his laid back peaceful place him and his D42.
He was the coolest, hands down.
He oozes soul. Have mercy. Rip Gregg.
Nobody sings the blues like a heartbroken man...incredible, thanks Gregg.
One of the best blues singers I ever heard.
Wish I could go back to those day's...better music
How could 700 ppl not like this? He tunes in the middle of playing and never misses a lick! Good god what more do you want? 😳🤣
Ha Ha. He's such a rock god that he misses a lick and thinks "f'd up guitar i'll just tune my way out of this" and then does it again. Gregg Allman can do no wrong for many of us. May he and Duane forever rest in peace. And oh by the way, thank you.
I've been watching this for decades. I bought my first guitar because of it.
We all miss brother Gregg
Golden rule human is fool
Not many white Boys can sing the blues like a black man. Your watching one
I wish people would stop talking about how high Gregg was, or what kind of drug he was on, & how much he drank. Gregg never got over the death of Duane. Let him RIP for Heaven’s sake. U should all be ashamed of yourselves. I’m a Gregg Allman fan, always was & always will be. I love you Brother Gregg ♥️
TRUTH !!! RIP his spirit will never die 💔🥀🙏
People who have never experienced that pain & heartache don't have a clue.
Since the death of my daughter and only child, I know it in spades. 😭
@JC I do know because I was an alcoholic and an addict myself.
Therefore, I do have a clue!!!!
@JC I don’t know what it’s like to loose a Child. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I will keep you up in prayer 🙏🏻 to the Lord❤️🩹
Amen
One of my most favorite performances ever. Raw, simple, and astonishingly beautiful! Sail on Gregg! We love you!
Stop commenting on his being high. We all were in those days. Frankly I’d like to have them back!
Allman made some of best music ever!!! Course you're prob too young to remember ! Love em
Same. I come back to this song almost daily. God I love the rawness. The emotion.
They were such talented musicians. Very rare
i can't even tell you how many times i have come back to watch this. prolly my favorite yoututbe video.
Jane Bowen me to !
Me too.
Likewise! This song truly captures everything purely and emotionally that music is all about.
I can't stop watching him sing this song he just oozes soul. I found him very sexy
@@lukeloveslauraalways
Me too. Not in a gay way but yeah ...
One of our greatest of all time🤳🏼⭐️
This is great music. Honest and real!!
Even the imperfections were perfect.
Perfect imperfections Sun Child, the world finally corrects its axis....thanks to you, Sun:)
Say that to his liver
known as incidentals are the notes that are inherent of custom and raw talent. whether famous or not, musicians of extreme talent art every where on and off the stage. keep on keeping on. The world is a better place, think it would be so much worse without the soundtrack to our lives and times to cherish for ever.
Doug "I'm an ass...." tell that to your mirror.
Sun Child Especially, it gives it ❤️🎸
THE FOLKS THAT HAVE DISPLAYED A THUMBS DOWN DO NOT HAVE A CLUE.
RIGHT YOU ARE!
Gregg Allman was a Beautiful Soul, and just seeing him all alone, singing one of my favorite songs, “Come and Go Blues” made me very happy. You just do not see any musicians, just playing in the rawest acoustical form, and then stop and critique yourself during your performance, and restart where you stopped to tune your guitar string. As far as his very sexy Southern soulful voice, there will never be another one like it. Gregg Allman is & will be missed.
AGREED!!
NOBODY has a soulful voice like his. Laid Back is such a great album.
Listen to Not My Cross To Bear. He was only 22 yrs. old. If those vocals don’t make the hairs on your arms stand up...you’re dead.
@@johna.1949 That is my favorite song.
The best one
He s the most beatifullest man i have ever seen. I am mesmerized by all his videos. His voice, his playing and him. We certainly lost a talented performer.
You can hear the allman way of finger picking, its in the blood. It's like he's in my living room. So natural. Stunning.
Gregg is singing deep from his soul and is reliving the experience that made this song……all while fairly blasted….truly an amazing piece of music.
Yep that Ole H messed with Gregg for years
Looks like he's feeling no pain,
Lol he was higher than a Georgia pine right here but by God he nailed it as usual! Luv u Gregg..u r missed.
Lol and he still pulls it off beautifully!
@@ckelley63 Damn straight.. Lmaooo
He was a treasure. A gift from God. Playing in Heaven now.
as a 15 year old girl i am in utter amazement. gregg’s singing style is so effortless and laidback yet he still conveyes so much heart and emotion. as a guitar player i know that this song is not the easiest to play and the fact that he has an almost flawless performance (even though he is very obviously strung out on drugs) is incredibly impressive. the musicianship just pours out of him. i am absolutely in love with this video and the fact that his brother was one of the greatest guitar players to ever exist just completely blows my mind. rip gregg, you’ll never be forgotten
This is around a 50 minute rehearsal recorded 12-81. Gregg had a surgery around this time. He got sober, at that time, & remained that way for around a year. In '82 while sober, Gregg did quite a few interviews & appearances. Gregg was better than ever during this sober period. In my book, he'll always be the best soulful musician of my time.
I am with you you have a local station in Lansing Michigan one day they play Queen of hearts by Gregg Allman since then I have tried to listen everything I could from this wonderful blues voice. Currently reading his book. This guy flew under my radar
@@erikwillard2546 Cross To Bear is an excellent look inside Gregg's life. If you want a more detailed of the inside track of ABB, get Alan Paul's book, One Way Out. It takes a deeper look at all the brothers lives, especially Gregg's addictions that which he didn't give a thorough account.
Let me add to to 15 yo girls response that when you hear ur older folks complaining about music today it's not to bash your taste in music . We just would love your reaction the first time we together could experience so much of this incredible magic with so many of you . It was truly epic !!!!
@@erikwillard2546 that book is awesome!
Great acoustic version here
RIP Gregg, you will NOT be forgotten.
breaks my heart so bad to know he's gone. But his music will stay with us as long as we're alive. Rest in Peace
How could anyone give this a thumbs down???Love this version!!
People who listen to today's music have no clue what real music is. So many greats starting from late 1960 to a few still today. Greg Allman had a voice and a soul regardless of some of his choices he learned from it. Nobody is perfect. The world got a gift
There will never be another Gregg Allman man. It sucks to lose someone that talented. RIP brother.
Gregg was a sweet soul. Went through a lot in life too!
He had a real hard time losing Duane and the mixed up world of stardom as shark as it is.
Life is indeed short. Be sure to live yours to your very best!
bryan long Chris Stapleton is the next Gregg Allman.
He was talented and a pushed by the love of a brother.
You guys can not even imagine how much this song means to me! ❤
Same goes for Melissa.
This song is always in my head. Its so tragic to have this kind of love in your life. Its the worst place to find yourself. Locked inside your web.
I was an 18 yr old young man who just moved to Sarasota Fl. I had 21 dollars to my name when i got there and was quickly gone, my roommate called the house and told me he needed me to work at Walt's fish market for the evening which i was glad to do. Lot of famous people ate there, he told me there is a curtain on a private booth in back of the restaurant. I was to kindly ask if i could take your order, the man says open the "shade" i opened it up to see Gregg and a beautiful woman who i thought was Marie Osmond, i said WOW....Mr Allman, it's a pleasure to meet you and i'm a huge fan of your music, he say's nice to meet you young man. I said and hello to you Miss Osmond.....the lady flipped !! She was his current g.f. Cher. She was so mad i had it wrong and he just laughed so hard, he tipped me a one hundred dollar bill that night in 84. That 100$ helped me out SO MUCH, he was one class act ! R.I.P.
Gr8 Story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can hear his laugh!!! (y)
@@susanschroeder3512 T.y. he was such a good man, great character, very kind and funny. The look on Chers face is something I'll never forget. Best wishes to you and yours Sue.

This acoustic version is so deep and soulful like he is really singing to someone special! Love it! What an awesome talented man.
Southern legend that live on forever!
Best white blues singer right there
A legend gone too soon. . .I could listen to him sing all day every day.
I do listen all day, every day. ABB > ALL
Mid '70s high school everyone listen to the The Allman Brothers and then thereafter Greg Allman.. regardless if you're cruising the boulevard at the beach wherever Greg was always on replay took me back to great times and sad times as well You will be missed you are missed Never forgotten
Brings tears to my eyes.... fawkin MASTER blues guitarist!
How did I go this long without hearing this version? Absolute perfection.
Thank God they kept the tape rolling on the break and captured this. The mistake makes it even more authentic. Gregg was such a talented dude. What a voice! He was always "channeling" .
This is the most beautiful version of this song.
The polished version is great but this is the real blues soul of Greg . RIP brother.---- A fan since 1969. NJ
Best music video on the internet. . .and it's not even close! So much talent and authenticity doesn't exist anymore.
Gregg Allman...you were a GIFT to us. Your music, your heart & Soul, your beautiful "looks"...you were the whole package!!! So thankful we were blessed with many years of your music. Gone but NOT forgotten💯💙🤎💛❤💥🔥

A very underrated blues singer ...... like a cry out from a tortured soul .....
I don't care about Rolling Stone ...... he is in my top 10 greatest blues rock singers
Word.
I always thought to myself it’s crazy that voice comes out of this guy but there’s no doubt in my mind one of my favorite singers
Rolling stone sucks, he is one of the greatest
Lol Rolling Stones are not blues , they were mostly rock , blues are the Derek and dominos and allman brothers with southern rock and jazz
Underateed. Its you to a come and go blues.
It must b wonderful to have something so beautiful spill outta ya like that ….thank you !
I could listen to his voice all day.
Tara Wallace AMEN to that!!

Tara Wallace I can't yet, it destroys me.
This is just sublime! RIP Gregg! We miss you so much!!
another version from graham nash's " inside track " 1991 couple other songs real sweet
A masterpiece of an explanation of deep seated pain from a lost love. This song is deeper than the oceans!!!
Greg plays the notes in the perfect sounds, perfect places, time, and with a finess that was truly all his own. Talent like that is often mimicked, but never as good. Greg was in a higher level than all of us when he performed. Talent, passion, soul, feeling, all things that he expressed best through his music.
OMG : He was so beautiful and sang like an angel !!!!!
Always love that man to the day I die such a gorgeous talented musician rest in peace my brother
My favorite Band of all time and one of my favorite songs..RIP Greg Allman
He's so high here, oh my. I always felt so bad for him after he lost Duane. He was never the same. Loved those guys, for ever and ever. I used to lock myself in my room and play their records over and over. Thank goodness for headphones.
Si, you're so right; he never was the same after he lost his brother. I think he was a tortured soul until the day he died. So sad..RIP Gregg; such a beautiful man!
It don't get no better this is legendary music. It will never happen again like this this is a real legend
I heard this version of the song for the first time a few days ago .. I just can't get it out of my head.. and I won't want to.. It's hauntingly soulful.. This man has so much depth .. so much feeling. It comes out in every cord.. in every word. I first fell in love with Gregg back in the 70's as a teenager. And now I've falling in love all over again
So sad to lose him... but how lucky are we to be on the same planet at the same time this man lived?
And I ask myself; will we ever be on this planet with musicians as great as these guys and a handful of others again?
I say probably not. It’s been 30 to 40 years now and there are still very few that could rival these bands. Oh well, thank God for recordings.
As a man in recovery I don't find this painful to watch. I find it inspirational. He died clean and sober and that gives me hope. Rock on in heaven brother
Agreed. ❤
Pure talent when you can sing alone without any instruments or auto tune. Love the Allman brothers. Has the most beautiful hair on a man that I've ever seen. He was so manly and had natural sex appeal. Ride on Midnight rider.
I agree, Gregg was just gorgeous in his hey day. Gorgeous hair and that voice....SEXY!!!!

Gregg was amazing!!!!!! Beautiful
RIP Gregg Allman!! You are missed everyday!!
Amazing harmonics and bell ringing. Greg Allman was an incredible talent. RIP
This video is so painful to watch - Gregg is high - no shock there, but he brought us so much happiness I wanted to know, for sure he got over his grief over his brother and Berry. This particular video is so raw. Gregg - Thank you for 45+ year of the best singing one could ever hear - thank you for the Allman Brothers and your solo work. You were special.
ann cooley Berry not Barry
I took one look at his eyes and could see the heroine addiction.
He was practicing for the show that night. He corrects himself...I love that. He wrote this song, and he sings it many different ways in different versions.....He was and is the best......that Allman sound can never be duplicated, not by anyone...."It seems to me that I once heard that everything is finally cured by time...so sail on, darling sail on..."
I cried too.
He didn't ever get over it
Rest in peace Gregg, your beautiful voice and guitar will shine on forever xxx
He put all of his heart and soul into every tune he sang....
I try not come back this for a long time because it’s the ultimate in acoustic performance and vocals. Extreme quality and beautiful changes that make me shake my head in disbelief. Touching
Gregg and Duane are the greatest musical treasures ever born into one family. ❤ Don't know where you boys are now, but you brought heaven to us here on the troubled old earth. God, if he exists, bless and keep you two and if not let's never forget how lucky we were to have had ya'll.

My favorite version...he kind of floats away into the song...
Hank Jr. does a great version of this song as well that doesn't sound too bad !
RIP Gregg. This is really a great folk song. Thanks for posting this.
I discovered The Brothers over 40 years ago. I was 8. To this day no band, group of musicians, preacher, teacher, soulmate, friend, or anyone but my dog can touch my soul anywhere near the depths of my core the way these guys still do. Rare. Gregg showing the guitar skills.
Oh and I say hell yes....we share the same age, the brothers Allman have been through good with me, but more importantly they have abated the bad like (you said it) my dog, Boo. I haven't a family. I never even had the opportunity to make my own family...I suppose that is not fair...it just wasn't in the cards...but I don't feel badly, I reconciled my life bit by bit and year by year, problem by problem and where by when, with the Allman brothers in the background with Gregg's throaty growl and his amazing song writing the words taking me over, "Jesus Christ, Judy Honey, theses guys are like a religion to you..." my dear father almost asks me one day. Then he said, "I did something right, if I made a daughter who can appreciate music like you do..." I'll never forget that. And, yes I have quoted Gregg's words from time to time, like, "please don't confront me with my failures, I'm aware of them...:" From these days written by J. Browne but not that line)...and to the Allman brothers, in heaven, "here I stay, trapped in your web until that day I find some body else..."(from this song, g. allman). I do not think I will find music that moves me more....Thank you Robert Stroud, you are a true brother, from a sister...oh, by the way, I'm bound for Rome...(multicolored lady, g. allman)
Ain't it tha truth. Being a southern boy I cut my teeth on the Allman Brothers. They still move me at age 55 just like they did back then.
@@judygirl3102 I never had kids or got married. I lived on the road for lots of years. I settled down 16 years ago, now. Met my girlfriend. Quit drinking.
After 16 years I'm still not sold on the domesticated thing. I mean. I like it OK, I see what people get from it. But, they ain't got what we got. Our reality is a total mystery to "normal" people.
I've been told my entire life I'm "different." I know I am Mountains I have climbed would have killed a thousand men and I'm gonna rent myself a house in the shade of the freeway and pack my lunch and go to work each day.
I'd love to stick around but I'm running behind. Please, Just Don't Keep me Wonderin'!
