Swarthmore College: Encampment for Palestine (22 April 2024)

- Swarthmore Students for Justice in Palestine has been fighting for institutional divestment from Israel for more than a decade. Today, their struggle has never been more critical. This video documents the first few hours of an encampment @SwarthmoreSJP started two days ago in solidarity with the Palestinian people and the national encampment movement across college campuses, and in protest of their college’s complicity with the ongoing genocide. Their demands are threefold: Swarthmore’s divestment from Israel, recognition of the ongoing scholaticide in Gaza, and the termination of public safety officer Brendan Duke, an ex-NYPD officer who recently racially profiled an African-American student. Swarthmore College has long professed to respect the importance of peace, justice, and equality. The College has failed time and time again to apply those values consistently in the case of Palestine. Come hear the voices of the students, professors, and activists who know that for the college to stand with the Palestinian people in the midst of a genocide, they must fight.

Hate to be "that guy," but many of these students protesting would not survive one week in Gaza.
Their heart is in the right place for the innocent, obviously. But the mess over there comes from a level of religious extremism, bigotry, corruption, and recklessness that is beyond intervention. Better to help the side that ISN'T directly governed by a global terrorist network IMO.
