That energy 99-01 era Slipknot had is nigh impossible to impersonate imo, but Vein does the best job of recreating that same chaos while putting their own spin on it. Idk about you but I'd be pretty stoked to see Slipknot take Vein out on tour, they fucking deserve it.
I mean this band is half nu-metal half technical hardcore similar Gaza or bands like that. A lot of the playing/tuning/etc is reminiscent of Slipknot and other nu-metal bands of the late 90s/early 00s but with modern hardcore sensibility.

I already respected this band so much. But now I just respect their drummer way to much. Dude is a beast and needs a drum cam. Absolutely spot on the whole entire set and hits HARD. And that’s snare is beautiful like he’s a perfect drummer

TheNewNo1se - Gaza was one of the best bands on the planet.!! almost every member is now in cult leader (different singer). but they're not even half as good as gaza was imo. you def should check out gaza's discography (3 albums, 1 ep). at least their last album 'no absolutes in human suffering' was produced by kurt ballou. ex-gaza singer is now in bird eater (also def worth checking out - 'dead mothers make the sun set'). but i have to say that not a single aspect of vein is comparable to gaza. gaza played the most intense, violent and dense sludge during their time of existence. they are rather comparable to fister and primitive man or stuff like that.
GodsColdHands Gaza are easily one of my favorite bands, Vein doesn't even come close. I was honestly disappointed by Vein's debut but a lot of people were more than satisfied so I kind of just act like it was at least an 8/10. It's like a 6/10 for me.
