    Fun fact: Photon Generator Unit is actually illegal to play because of its quotations requiring 2 monsters SPECIFICALLY named “Cyber Dragons” ,not “Cyber Dragon”s. It had to get a special ruling to mean 2 monsters named Cyber Dragon.

    • @SmittyWerbenjagermanjensen_1
      @SmittyWerbenjagermanjensen_1 Před 26 dny

      The way you worded the ruling seems to me like the Cyber Dragon monsters who are treated as Cyber Dragon while on the field are excluded. Is this how it currently works?

    • @raze2012_
      @raze2012_ Před 26 dny +6

      @@SmittyWerbenjagermanjensen_1 it's a super nitpick because the card name is "Cyber Dragon", with no 's' in quotes. But the card text in PGU mentions "Cyber Dragons". There is no Card named "Cyber dragons", so nothing for furfills the conditions. Note the 's' being in quotes there.
      This wouldn't matter in the OCG because Japan doesn't traditionally have plurality. So call it a localization error lol.

      @@raze2012_ thanks, but I didn‘t ask for clarification why the english localization of the card technically doesn‘t work. That was clear to me.
      I was thinking about the difference between the first harpie support and the Cyber Dragon stuff. Harpie #1 is alway Harpie whereas the Proto Cyber Dragon is just treated as Cyber Dragon while on it‘s on field. I‘m pretty sure the Harpies where supposed to act as additional copies of the vanilla one and not replace her. But due to the wording it just doesn‘t work as intended … so my question is: is the ruling worded in a way that it specifically requires the OG 5-star Cyber Dragon and only him or are all the Cydra support cards valid targets when on field and treated as Cydra?
      So basically does a ruling create a difference between name printed on card and name treated as something?

    The thing about Ring of Defense is that it doesn't even work the way it's supposed to anymore. It was supposed to prevent you from taking damage from ring of destruction while still doing it to your opponent, but thanks to errata, if you don't take damage, your opponent won't either.

    • @freyachobi

    I will disagree with Soul Reversal to an extent. In the Older YGO games, I ran an early version of Mill strategy that had 1 Morphing Jar, 1 Cyber Jar and 3 Needle Worms. I ran 2 Soul Reversals and would use it after my opponent attacked into a Morphing or Cyber Jar (latter preferred). This immediately allows me to draw the Jar back and play it... use up all my resources to set up a defense and then flip up the Jar somehow. Reversal was NOT the main recovery spell (that's more done by The Shallow Grave) but it still gave me enough to work with.
    Of course, that was when Yugioh was slow as a geriatric snail so the spell CLEARLY wouldnt work now, but it still had SOME use back then... albeit a very short lived and limited use

    • @nicolaistuhlmuller8718
      @nicolaistuhlmuller8718 Před 26 dny +2

      For early jar based strategies they'd usually try to mill out the opponent in one single turn through card destruction. The main idea back then was to fill up your opponent's hand like crazy by activating cyber jar multiple times during your turn (through book of moon and tayou usually) so the opponent would end up with 10+ hand cards, after which you'd use card destruction and force your opponent to draw 10+ cards again before finishing off with a way to recycle card destruction and use it again, decking out your opponent.
      The reason this combo needs to go off in a single turn is because if you ever let your opponent have an end phase, they will discard down to 6 and your card destructions will be much weaker. So even in a jar based mill strategy soul reversal wasn't useful.

    • @bluedestiny2710

      @@nicolaistuhlmuller8718Agreed. What i did was a poor attempt since i didnt considering using books during the time i slotted Reversal

      A better idea would be to retrain Cyber Laser Dragon into a Link monster. I devised a Link 3 with Y arrows (upper diagonals and straight down) that would retain the spirit of the monster. Before you complain about the Y arrows, here's the effect I had:
      2+ "Cyber Dragon"
      This card's name is treated as "Cyber Dragon" while on the field or in the GY. This card must be summoned to an Extra Monster Zone. All "Cyber Dragon" monsters you control inflict piercing battle damage. Once per turn, you may activate one of the following effects:
      - Banish 1 card this card points to
      - Destroy 1 monster on the field with ATK less than or equal to this card.
      Because of the line "Must be summoned to an Extra Monster Zone", it cannot be used towards a 3 card Extra Link as the card in the middle without excessive effort to move it after being summoned.

But needing two tributes immediately makes it dead in the water

      But i do agree it could. 2 Cyber dragons at that time where there were only 2 that had the actual name (Cyber Dragon and the Prototype Cyber Dragon, which changes its name when in the field) makes it too cumbersome to use. For all that effort... just slot in a power bond and a cyber twin dragon in your extra deck. If only 1 was required, upgrading a 2100 ATK to a 2400 Atk with destruction effect... or a 1100 ATK to a 2400 ATK, would have been pretty good

    For example, i know there was a format where zoodiac was terrifying and i know a few of the pieces of that deck, but maybe there were more much needed cards. Or maybe there are only actually one, two or three cards that actually make a deck really good.
    In terms of format it could just be the 10 best cards, with maybe 1-3 of each of the top decks, depending on their individual power level, or maybe you choose the top 5 decks and choose the best 2 cards from each, or maybe the top 10 decks and just the best card of each.

    Sooo. During the era where Pot of Greed was actually legal (yes, I did play it, I am that old) Solemn Judgement was not nearly as good as it became because the game was far too slow. In that day, while the omni negate was nice, having to pay half of your life points was too high of a price as you would more often than not lose life points in increments of 500-1500, and protecting your card once was not worth 4000 life points. Combos were NOTHING like they even became during the end of the OG YuGiOH not even GX so the real reason why Robber never saw use was because it didn't let you draw 2 cards, only one Pot of Greed and trading one for one with no swing in tempo or card advantage was not worth it being dead on field.

    What if the card can force a monster from either side to defence position and keep it that till the controlling players next turn but the controller of the monster gets a card draw when the effect resolves.
    Also Jar robber should be playable on any pot/jar spell/trap.

    I can see Guard Penalty being used in a deck that can easily change positions on either side of the field. I could probably splash a copy or two into my Karakuri deck in Master Duel and get results.

    _Card Recovery_
    Quick-Play Spell
    _Target any number of cards on the field that you own: Shuffle them and your entire hand into your deck, and if you do, draw cards equal to the number of shuffled cards, and if you draw more than 6 cards, your hand size limit is increased by equal to the number of additional cards for the rest of the duel._

    1:38 Idea to improve this card by just making it apply to changing battle positions in general:
    _Position Penalty_
    Quick-Play Spell
    _For the rest of the turn, each time an opponent’s monster(s) changes battle position, Draw 1 card._
    So basically with this, something like “Spark Blaster” (that was in the last video BTW) would effectively become a Pot of Greed.

    • @nicolaistuhlmuller8718
      @nicolaistuhlmuller8718 Před 16 dny

      No, monster recovery exclusively states "cards you shuffled from your hand", so with one monster on the field, a set monster recovery and 5 in hand you have 7 cards. You then activate monster recovery, bringing you down to 6, then shuffle the monster and hand into your deck, draw 5 cards and have 2 less than before.

      @@arrownoir"V"irtual You"tuber". Aka, someone streaming while using an animated Avatar instead of their actual Face.
      The "Virtual" part of the Name comes from the fact that originally (ie, if you aren't watching a professionally employed one), the point was that the Avatar gets treated as if they are a real entity who is entirely seperate from the actual Person who is doing the streaming (as they "act out" a different personality while "on camera").
      To give a more simplified explanation, imagine a Movie Actor goes to an Interview but stays in-character as whoever they played in the Movie the entire time. VTubers basically do that but as Livestreamers.
