My favorite video game of all time. I will body anybody on the GameCube. I thank you for this video and everybody that went into building something important that was in my childhood. This game made me learn who legends of the game were. Causing my love of basketball to grow exponentially, and I was already madly infatuated.
San Andreas will ALWAYS be better 🔥
Be too man me too!!!!
On GameCube? Run it bro.
Nah that part about learning who the legends are is facts asf bro
I’m still a beast on PS2! Would play this game for hours and attempt moves at the park. Damn times were so different
idk if this vid’s gonna get the respect it deserves, but this is a straight up documentary. j kyle mann is a bball media savant
Seems like they’re trying to get in on SB nations turf, but they will need to up the production value or find a clever work around like DorkTown did.
@@Drummajortsu sb nation is good, but I like Kyle's stuff better tbh.
He's so thoughtful, informed, and sentimental about the sport that every video he makes feels like a humble tribute to the game and culture he loves. A notch above everyone else.
Whenever I hear the horns come in on troy I'm instantly transported back to sitting on the floor with my cousins. We are talking smack and winner stays on. Thank you to those created this, you are responsible for some of my favorite memories.
GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME
I feel like this should be a required experience for this game.
GOOSEBUMPS MAN
THIS EXACT MEMORY BRO. I FELL IN LOVE WITH HOP HOP LISTENING TO THEM HORNS
The greatest Sports Simulation game that’s ever been created. Vol 1 gave us that feeling. Vol 2 gave that feeling steroids lol
This was a great trip down memory lane. The whole EA BIG line was iconic. SSX, NFL, NBA, and FIFA. Damn the nostalgia.
If it had EA Big. I was in. I didn’t care about the sport.
That's The funny thing about EA, once upon a time, alot of kids in the 00s was playing all 4 games at 1 point
Bro I stg I played Madden, NCAA, FIFA, NHL, and NBA Live all at once
Fr, every EA Big game was good. Ea literally got rid of their best properties.
@@ahc93 but year after year they continue to come out with bullshit tho... What a shame
1 of the most memorable video games moments I have is my homie (may he RIP) performing a level 2 gamebreaker on me. I remember being salty yet blown away and it took me a minute to pick my jaw up. I miss those days.
RIP to your homie B!
Rip dog!
T.R.O.Y encapsulates this game so perfectly
Amen
That intro alone brings so much nostalgia ! I reminisce I reminisce!!!
I cant help but grin like a kid again when i hear the intro
Between this and Fight for NY. I played those games for hours. I can still hear the music when I cranked it up.
Two GOATED titles
Best 2 games to play against friends. had some battles on both of these. And the shit talking was real
NFL Street 2 As Well
First of all efh Fat Joe and that Pedigree. I'll never hear the song "Loyalty" the same again haha
But the game breakers on this game....amazing
Now we got corny ass games like nba playgrounds smh. It's sad they don't make games like this no more.
Such a great video!
An underrated part of NBA street 2, at least in my experience as a very young kid playing it just getting into hoops, was how much it indirectly taught me about the legends and history of the game. The loading screens encouraged me to look up these old players I had never heard of, and led me to dive into the history of basketball. It turned me into a 7 year old who could recite facts about George gervin and Dr J. I truly think that really factored into growing my basketball passion
Straight up!!!
Crazy
🎉
🎉
🎉😂😂
It's amazing that EA has learned nothing from the success of these teams and the way these games succeeded.
This was released before Andrew Wilson took over as CEO of EA…when the company had some actual integrity.
Facts! Nba Street, Def Jam Vandetta/Fight for Ny and Nfl Street...... CLASSICS!
@@sonic354 i forgot fight for NY was an EA game
I wonder why they can’t make games like these anymore ??
There's nothing to learn when all your students look like potential gambling addicts or IAP junkies
They do not pay J Kyle Mann enough for this series. Easily could be on a streaming giant with this level of attention to detail and narration. Easily underpaid.
Is he white?
@@razkable tf?
Just a company making a game of something that they enjoy, no updates, no DLC, no micro-transactions. Just an amazing experience of a video game, right out the box
My favorite sports game ever. Love the focus on bobbito! He brought that energy that helped keep every game fun
Wolfff ticketttt
This game got me into both classic hip hop and jazz at the same time at such a young age. This game and NFL Street defined my childhood and whenever I go back to my buddies house we still pop both games in and play for hours
Incredible mini doc on probably one of the best sports games ever. My friends still get together to play this on PS2
This game did so much for me growing up. I remember playing it religiously. In my early teens, because of this game, anytime I would walk to a friend's house, I'd be dribbling a basketball, just reenacting the moves I'd done hundreds of times in the game. It was also the thing that made me realize I like hip hop music. As someone who grew up in the bling era, I just didn't enjoy the corniness of it, but when I fired up this game and heard Lords of The Underground and Black Sheep it showed me such a different side of hip hop that still resonates with me to this day. This game's personality is timeless and will always be timeless.
I will say this... The one thing that made NBA Street Vol. 2 special was the instant replay feature. I used to spam that replay button when I did an ankle-break/dunk combo!!
This dropped the year I graduated high school and being a pretty good street baller myself and a big gamer this was heaven.. One of my favorite games of all time. Great seeing the creation of this masterpiece..
NBA Street Vol. 2 is the greatest basketball game ever. So many legends, unique style, cool modes and the soundtrack was next level good. Thank you, to everyone who put this game together. I spent a lot of hours playing this on the GameCube back in the day.
My older brother introduced me to th his game on the ps2, as a 6 year old kid I was hooked. I was hooked by the soundtrack, the visuals, the sport. This game literally introduced me to basketball and I’m so happy it did. The sport is still apart of my life and this game will always have a special place in my heart. This game was simply special.
Respect for highlighting Vol 2. one of the true sports gaming GOATs. Timelessly cool, easy to pick up but lots to master and infinitely replayable. This game, along with Def Jam FFNY and NFL Street, was EA BIG at its best. So sad they messed up with the move to the 360 and then they just stopped altogether. Bring it back, EA!
This game was truly a masterpiece. I remember hearing my friends talk about it at school. When I finally got the game myself, I couldn’t put it down. One of my favorite childhood games hands down. I wish EA or another company did a reboot of the Street series (without any money grab DLC or pay to win mechanics) for people like me and kids growing up now.
Damn I was expecting 15 min, this is a legit documentary that feels like it was made 4 me. I was born in 99 and this was my NBA introduction. I love this game so much, thank you J Kyle Mann 🙏🏼
Dang u was 4 when this came out?
I love this video I'm 20yrs old but I remember playing street with my dad when I was young I'm glad to have seen this video and see the impact and everything it took to make it
The fact that this vid only had 100k views is disappointing. This is a GREAT documentary on a game that I thought touched MILLIONS in its time! Thank you!!
I loved this game growing up and always thought it was special. It was amazing to see what made it so special. J. Kyle you were doing the Lord's work with this!
This came out right in the sweet spot of my child hood when I was starting to get really into sports, this game is a reason why I gravitated to basketball. An all timer!
Kyle Mann’s videos remind me why I love the game of basketball so much.
One of my favorite parts of the game was when they would give a nickname to your character. The Buckner they gave me was Nosebleed. I thought that was the dopest ever
This game shaped who I am today. Stylistically, hip-hip-wise, basketball, etc.
New York was the epicenter of everything cool in the mid-2000s and NBA Street Vol. 2 brought the streets of New York under the scope yet again - this time with the courts of West 4ths of, Rucker Park, and the over own in Brownsville.
I lived in the suburbs of San Diego - a place reserved for beaches and weather and thought MAN! where on earth do they have street basketball like this? I would spend hours at my local park imagining the NBA Street in my own head.
Years later, I own embark on journeys to find the parks and play on the legendary courts.
I have been and played at West 4th, Mosswood, Rucker Park, and Greenlake Park.
In between, I have found my own legendary courts, including parks in Beijing, Portland, and other places.
Thank you NBA Street Vol. 2 for all the great memories and introducing me to the world of street ball!
this one has "GOAT'd" music playlist, Vol.1 had a great story experience w/Lakers & having Jordan frm jump. Kobe/Jordan/Shaq experience all the way through
One of greatest game ever…I loved this game, so many classic hit songs that are now burned into my head because of Nba Street Vol 2. I will forever remember “gamebreaker” dunks and that epic music that played in the background
The documentary I didn’t know I needed. My favorite game on PS2, and I loved seeing how it was made. The care, love, and hip hop was definitely felt.
I still play this game regularly. After all of these years, it's still such an enjoyable and smooth game play. I really wish they would remaster this for current gens.
Gotta say NBA Street Vol 1 on the GameCube and NBA Live 2005 on the PS2 were monumental to my childhood
This was amazing! I can’t even articulate how well this game represented street basketball, and the amalgamation of hip hop and street culture were infused into it was just a masterpiece. Thank you for making this J. Kyle! You make a lot of amazing content, this is definitely my favorite so far. Keep up the great work
I agree 💯 percent. My favorite basketball game of all time. They need to make a new game exactly like this with all the NBA legends and today's players. That would be a dream come true.
“Elbow room, elbow room”
This was easily the best sports game I ever played. It really nailed the culture of the time, as I experienced it at least. Had so much fun playing this with friends. Nothing quite like bringing your own street star to prominence against past and contemporary legends.
The unbelievable vibes you got from playing this game were unmatched. I would turn it on and immediately feel like I was in some epic matchup with the all time greats of basketball
I was not aware that J Kyle Mann could dig this deep in video games and ball culture. This man is full of surprises and by far, the best basketball content creator on the planet. Really dig the content, adore the culture and by God do I love me some J Kyle Mann
man i remember all those hours spent playing this game with my homie erik... he would always choose the lakers tho which was the equivalent of choosing the warriors in 2k17 lol
J Kyle Mann: "Let me know if you agree..."
Literally everyone: 10000000000000000000000%
This is incredible, and it shows how beautiful art can be when the people that create it CARE. This team did this with limited tech, and probably a limited budget. So inspirational. On the other hand, this makes many modern game studios (other than the indies) look terrible and shows how much they don’t care.
One of my favorite games of all time and I have so many great memories with this game. I almost shed a tear watching this.
This game was such a big part of my childhood and getting me even further hooked on the game of basketball. Would love to see a new version (NBA street worldwide/Worldtour et.) or even a remake of this classic just to pick it up one more time.
NBA Street was absolutely my jam. This is the game that got me into basketball as a little kid back in the day. I didn’t care about the sport at all at the time, but I could NOT stop playing this game. And the soundtrack? My God. This game was just SPECIAL.
One of my favorite games of all time and a legendary game in my opinion. I’ve always been a basketball fan so I had this and nba live at the same time but this game was far more entertaining. I bought a GameCube years ago just to have this again. Thank you for insight into the creation
what a fantastic video. props to the whole team, they did everything they could to make this a cool and engaging video. also props to the devs on nba street, i loved seeing them talk so passionately about the game and how much they focused on the details and how specific they wanted everything! that's how you know they were inspired and passionate about the game, and like i'm sure we've all said before, they really don't make games like they used to anymore.
Teared up when you talked about the then-next generation of NBA stars and showed that iconic shot of the 96 draft class. Best class ever by far. I doubt you'll see that marriage of sheer talent and cultural impact again.
This was an amazing documentary. Thanks for taking me back. Now I gotta play this again after 15+ years haha
What about 84? Or 03?
Had to re-watch this one... almost brought a tear to my eye. This is definitely my favorite video game of all time. NBA Street Vol 2 was a moment in time. I remember leaving school and my friends would stay after school to hang out. One of my homies asked me if I was staying late today and I told my bro, "Nah fam, NBA Street Vol 2 just came out, I'm going home" haha... those were the days. Cheers to NBA Street Vol 2, and big ups to the entire crew that made it.
Great memories with this game. Growing up I always thought I was in the minority when it came to this game but I'm happy to see it's a classic in everyone's eyes. The music and the feel of the game is what I remember the most. So very street. Be a legend was beyond its time.
BEST SOUNDTRACK IN A GAME EVER.
CHANGE MY MIND
No need to change facts
Facts!!!
GTA by a mile
I spent so much playing with 85 Jordan on here and all the legends, absolute classic
This game is a piece of history. A timeless classic masterpiece. No doubt one of my all time favorite games.
Earned my sub not just cuz its stream but because it was deep honest, in touch and informative. Thanks for this. Gives me a lil hope.
Love this game! Def in my Mt Rushmore, if not my #1.
Although, I’d say Live 95 kicked off the modern league-wide sim train, even though I prefer 96. Don’t sleep on Live 2000 for PC and it’s franchise mode and soundtrack!
this video is so well made. congrats to the creators on making something amazing.
Bruh, this video was very much needed especially at this time. You’ve done your homework for sure and what you were able to present is nothing short of perfect. Your research was on point and done with clarity and efficiency. Also, that list you made towards the end was the icing on top of the cake. Vol. 2 is easily one of if not the best basketball game ever constructed. Also, 2k11 was a MASTERPIECE when it came out and still holds up (insert Wilder’s voice) TO DIS DAY!!!
Amazing vid! I’m forever grateful for their work on this game! And shout outs to everyone else who worked on it as well. It’s absolutely a love letter to the game of basketball 🏀!!!
This was gaming at the most pure. I can teleport back in my mind to the countless hours I spent playing this game. Pure dopeness
Man, you really took me back. First 45 minutes of my work day and this was solid. I greatly appreciate the stroll down memory lane and the insight to one of my favorite games.
This was an absolute joy to watch. Greatness. Brought tons of memories back. And to wrap up. Man thanks. Thanks for this.
FAM!!!! I am so happy to be watching this... One of the greatest pieces of video game ingenuity and creativity I've ever played. master work. Still super playable.
I love this video like i'm shedding tears over here I remember the first time putting this in my gamecube some of my most cherished memories was playing this game. I'm still trying to capture that in new nba games it just doesn't come close to this.
Phenomenal presentation, excellent flow and editing. Thank you for this!
Classic Dime Drop, even down to the music. Love to see it. Great work!
Beautiful doc on one of the Best games of all time. Thank you 🙏🏾 spent a lot time as a kid enjoying this classic
Man, this vid deserves more views. I love how it weaves an examination of early 2000's culture into the examination of the game, just like how the game incorporated that culture into itself.
This was the best game ever. Rip Hamilton became my favorite player, kept him the whole game even over the legends.
Thank you so much for making this video and allowing some of the creatives behind this game to share their perspective. To this day, this is one of the greatest sports game of all time. It is an exceptionally crafted game. Presentation, art direction, gameplay, sound, it all came together to make a classic. Games like this only show up once in a blue moon.
OMG this was phenomenal. Half way through I actually forgot this was a video about NBA Street. Great Job!!!
Everything is this video was so informative, interesting, and inspirational at the same time. Well done! I’m definitely subbing now
This is some incredible fucking content bro. Great video concept and spectacular delivery. Great pacing, great writing, great editing, great interviews, just the complete package. Thanks for all the hard work brah, and thanks to all the creators who came together to make NBA Street Vol 2
This is one of the greatest gaming documentaries to exist. Good job guys, one of the best things I've had the privilege to watch.
Well done documentary. This goes in the archives. So many great memories.
I. LOVE. NBA STREET VOL. 2. THANK YOU so much for making this video. The world needed to learn this history!!
This is quite possibly the best CZcams video I've seen all year. As a super fan of hip hop and basketball this was so well made. Edited to perfection and so insightful.
By far this is the video game documentary/expose I ever seen. Excellent job.... Absolutely beautiful!!
I didn't expect this to be a full fledged documentary but i love it. Please keep up the great work!
This is an AMAZING documentary! Thank you for doing this for one of my favorite games!
Perfect documentary, thanks for dropping this Ringer
Amazing video guys! I was glued to the screen the whole time.
This is a spectacular retrospective piece on NBA Street Vol. 2!! Kudos!!
OUTSTANDING PIECE showing just how important this game is to the fabric of both hip-hop and the NBA. Well done guys...well done.
this documentary is a piece of art as well as this game was!
both are a work of love so much attention to detail and genuine love for the game (video game and basketball both)
much respect!
one love!
I'm really happy I came across this video cause watching it unlocked a core memory from my childhood. I remember getting NBA Street Vol. 2 for the Gamecube in the Summer of '03 at the age of 8 right around the time I was beginning to follow and watch basketball. And I fondly remember spending my Summer vacation in DR and bonding with my cousin who I hadn't seen in a long time. Long story short this games was so much fun to play, and has a special place in my heart. 🙌🏾
The GOAT basketball game for me. The gameplay, soundtrack, commentary, presentation, everything was just A1.
I was literally thinking about this game like 2 days ago and suddenly this recommendation popped up in my feed! Great video! Brings back great memories.
Mr. Mann. Your videos seem so pure and genuine. You were born to do this
Thanks for making this video & keeping the spirit of the game alive!
This might be one of my favorite videos of all time, wow!
My entire family has always loved basketball but when I got my hands on this game I knew I this is why I loved it too. Still hoop it all the time. Great video mate, cheers!
This documentary makes me want to cry. This deserves the greatest of standing ovations along with all the creators who made that game as well.
EA needs to fix up !!
This is fantastic. Great work 👏🏻👏🏻
I liked both 1 and 2. Vol.2 definitely the best.
Thank you so much for making this. To be able to re-visit this part of my life like this - its a gift.
Wish I could sign up for notifications for J Kyle Mann's vids. Can't believe I almost missed this one. Amazing documentary. I have so many good memories with this game.
The work you guys are doing is amazing ... thank you
This is super well made. Got all up in my feels. Gonna find an emulator right now to play this on mac 👌🏻
Great work. Watching this made me remember all the times I stayed up until 2am on a school night playing this game
Thank you been waiting to see a deep dive on this game for year
