If you take a step back and think about this episode....the research that went into it is next level. These are not stats that can be compiled from BBRef. This was a manual research episode.
I appreciate the inclusion of Dutch Rennert’s signature call in this ep. He’s one of the few that I remember for his entertaining calls and not because he was terrible.
A delayed call is a taught mechanic. If it’s ball you stayed crouched and just say “ball” if it is a strike you stand fully erect and say strike loud enough for the ball park to hear
When watching the 2018 WCG between the Yankees and A’s, Severino got a big strikeout to end the inning, and I made a punch out motion too close to my face and gave myself a bloody nose with my elbow
As a former umpire (my knees gave out) this was a fun watch. I absolutely would practice in the off season! Kinda miss the older generations with their really unique Ks - and their really unique strike zones too
I love umps who do strike 3 calls. The ump who did Mets padres game 1 didn’t have one and It was so fucking annoying being at the game not knowing what he called
Woah is Carpenter really yelling at the ump for calling a strike on a pitch exactly down the middle of the plate in the zone? He's losing his mind over a curveball that was DEFINITELY a strike
I like the combo, immediate upper cut and yell then the step back lateral punch. I don't recall which umpire does that but I tried to replicate it when I was younger just for fun.
It would be interesting to see the correlation between amount of movement or deviation from standard to the accuracy of the umpire. Woud that matter too much for this series?

I was thinking that the whole time watching. Truly insane
Tom Hallion’s strike 3 call is untouchable
I umpire and I’m glad someone is covering this. I do mostly club and high school ball. Better baseball and more pay.
I always liked how vocal Jim Joyce gets with his strike calls.
"ry-EEEEEEK!!!"
Tom Hallion will never be beat.

Preferred Luciano shooting people out.
That uppercut is legendary by far my favorite especially in big game moments from Tom.

If you've never seen it search "Mark Grant umpire impressions" that man is a national treasure
Hell yes! I remember that from Super Duper Baseball Bloopers
I think James Hoye has the best loud and incomprehensible strike three call since Tom Hallion retired

That was Adrian Johnson
The baseball sequence in the Naked Gun is some of the funniest comedy ever put to celluloid.

Can we get a “BEST OF” strike three calls from the blitz ball tournament?
I loooove it jolly! Happy holidays
I dont even watch baseball, but I'll watch umpire videos all day

Marvin Hudson maybe?
Tom Hallion has the best and it’s not even close
That’s one beautiful watch you have on. What model is it?

Nice breakdown! This was cool to see.
Snowing at Chase Field… no way
I love the bow and arrow as well as the throwing darts.
Hallion has the best punch out.
I’ve never met an umpire that I like
now these are some stats that exist but do not matter that i can get behind. beaut.
I'm never sure if the episode number is accurate, Since it's a stat that exists, and may not matter 😆
Is that chase field?
Who is the MLB umpire who signals strike by extending his han straight out.
Definitely the best
Would you really call that a chop? I think of it more as a hammer.
Tom Hallion the best!
John Tampane(spelling?) Aka "The Ripper".
Tumpane
Dutch Rennart??????
Where is the original host?
Boooooooo
