John and his Fat Guy Golf channel is the most undervalued golf series on CZcams. His struggle with the game and determination to master it is so damn relatable, at least to me. I can’t relate to the hordes near PGA Pro quality channels on CZcams; they are so damn good at the game; there is no struggle, challenge, lost balls, penalty strokes, or drama. If I want to watch Golf Pros, I’ll watch a tournament.
I cannot understand why golf club/ball and accessories manufacturers are not showering John with products to test. He is your average joe golfer, like the rest of us millions of weekend duffers. If he were to test drive the latest Hybrid Iron set, the results would mean something. It’s pointless to have a golfer of, say, Rick Shiels quality test clubs designed to help us 90…dare I say 100+ stroke smucks on a Sunday outing.

Big John swinging well here 👏🏻👏🏻. Those early tee shots looked great. Check your grip big guy. Make sure you are gripping the club properly with your hands in a relatively neutral position. Your tendency is left off the tee & left with pitch/chips which could be the result of the back of your left hand being turned over to the right at address vs facing at the target. Always remember that wherever the back of the left hand faces will match the direction of the clubface 👍⛳️

Hahah… they’ve done a decent job on the course the last 2 years. iPhone 13 helps too
Always enjoy watcing your videos. When I went north of 280 lbs, I found it a challenge to keep my lower body ahead of my arms on the downswing, since there's alot of weight in my lower body. You said a few times "I didn't finish my swing". Perhaps it's more arms out-racing the lower-body on the downswing 6:23 compared to the nice tempo at 4:00. But you're determined. Your swing is similar to PGA player Brendon de Jonge - who has a controlled over-the-top downswing. Keep up the good golf !
Hole 4 and 5. Par - Par with smart ball placement. Well on your way to the 80’s.

I see you are a weight lifter. I'm 66 and have been lifting my entire adult life. Still going at it 3 to 4 times a week. I can't imagine my life without lifting - I'm an addict and love it. I do some cardio too mainly stair master, but it's really the weight lifting that has helped me stay in shape. If I had to pick one it would be lifting over cardio and I am a huge believer in weight lifting versus cardio to lose weight....so IMO you are on the right track. Some cardio does not hurt though and good to work a little into your routine. Keep it up man !!!

I notice you leave yourself with those 50 foot putts consistently. The main reason is that you use a wedge with a full swing from around the greens. No distance control with such a wristy routine. Make an 8 iron your go to club. Use the bump and run technique. Take the wrists out of the swing and use more of a putting stroke. Steve Stricker is a prime example of this. Get your ball onto the green and rolling toward the hole. This bump and run will give you the control you want and drop your scores dramatically.

The swing is looking good John. I'm also a fat guy trying to lose weight and play better golf. Was 415 down to 380 in 1 month. Also just started to get a handicap I'm a 10.9 handicap. Lots of good golf up here in Michigan, if you ever make your way here hit me up.

Love early morning golf alone…. Your shot tracer, what app do you use. Do you have to go back in and manually edit the tracer on each shot or does it do it for you on the course in real time and save.
Manually edit - it’s a nightmare - that’s why it’s takes 6-8 hours to make just one video and they get fewer and fewer. Hard to keep up with wife, gym, work.

I remember back in fat guy golf 5 when 205 was a crushed drive, now it's an easy swing. Driver is so much straighter too

Yooo! I love me some Fat Guy Golf. You freaking smoked that 2nd hybrid shot. I don't care that it didn't hit the green, that was awesome. Also, that green is RIDICULOUSLY fast. Wow. My suggestion for you might be to get a new putter with another 2-3 inches of length. I think yours is too short now that you lost a lot of the weight. You need to relax and take your arms out of that putting stroke.

I have a range finder - and a longer putter won’t work belly gets in the way. - look at me putting - the end of the club is like half inch away from my gut
@@FatGuyGolf i think the biggest issue you seem to have is the yips. whenever you have a makeable putt, like 6 feet or in, you sort of stab at the ball, or have an awkward acceleration into the ball as you anticipate hitting it. your putting stroke on longer putts is nice and smooth, thats how i can tell you have them. you should experiment with alternative grips like the claw or left hand low.
