Especially when Tubi has so many hidden gems. Although My wife and I will pay for a streaming service during the holidays, scramble to watch the few movies we like and then cancel again. If Netflix,Hulu, and others, would release the little bangers they have on physical, we would never need to pay for streaming again. i live in indonesia and the quality of our discs worsen each year, till the end of all physical media distribution here in the mid 2010s. at that time, i bought more bootlegs as a form of protest, also pointing out that the bootlegs were actually better manufactured compared to the real ones!
for a much recent case, i really love Titanic, got the real VCDs, DVDs, Bluray, and UHD. but none of them got Indonesia dubbing. When Disney launched Disney+ here, they released Titanic with Indonesian dubbing. But theres no more physical media distribution here, so there wont be any official disc release of it.
all was fine until Disney removed Titanic from streaming for the re-release. i found a seller that offers to print you a disc on demand, and Titanic with Indonesian dubbing is available. So, i bought the bootleg DVD copy of Titanic with indonesian dubbing.

The Valet is a remake of a Francis Veber film, the writer-director of many most famous, important, and fun French movies ever, mainly starring Pierre Richard, Gerard Depardieu, and Jean Reno (The Tall Blonde Man with One Black Shoe, The Toy, La Chevre/Unlucky, Fugitives, Les Comperes/CoFathers/'ComDads', Le Diner de cons/Dinner for Fools, Jaguar and many others). I think this must be 9th of his films, remade in English, the most I ever heard from any one director! Americans don't read subtitles, or learn other languages I guess...
The Birdcage, Father's Day, Dinner for Schmucks, etc, all are remakes of Veber's films.
The original La Doublure/The Double starred a very beautiful Alice Taglioni, and I wouldn't be watching this remake, if it weren't for Samara Weaving, my new favorite actress, thanks to her crazy killer roles in movies like Mayhem, The Babysitter, Ready or Not, and Guns Akimbo!
It's still a very feel-good film, adapted to LA realities, nationalities, with some details changed (in the French movie valet was much younger, without a former wife, so it didn't look that out of place and depressing, and the store he was visiting was a bookstore, not a bike shop).
Funny thing is half the movie is in Spanish, so you still gotta read subtitles, what was the point of a remake...😂

My only complaint about the Star Wars' Despecialized Editions is that Harmy's name appears in the credits. It is no longer about preserving film when you do this. Besides that, they are the most visually appealing versions. Honestly, for me, I'll only go for bootlegs if they are for things that I want to complete or for preservation. For example, I've got the first two seasons for the AMC TV series called Halt and Catch Fire. The first two seasons were released on DVD and Blu-Ray, however Season 3 and 4 of the show never had a physical release, and there haven't been any plans for them to be released on physical media (the only way to get the whole series complete is to buy the digital streaming via Amazon Prime. If I could get them from a third party distributor (i.e. bootleggers), I'd totally would buy them in a heartbeat so I could have the complete series (I've even toyed with making them myself if I can find a way to rip the streams from Amazon). I own a bootleg copy of a TV series called VR.5, which only lasted a season and isn't available on streaming. I bought it because the last physical release that existed was on VHS, and even then, you can't get all of the show. Some shows and movies aren't available on DVD and Blu-Ray, or even streaming, due to rights issues. One such example is the movie Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), which only had a VHS release and hasn't had any additional releases due to rights issues (mainly with the music featured in the film). I've got that one, as well as The Heartbreak Kid (the 1972 film, not the remake with Ben Stiller), Hamburger - The Motion Picture (1986) and Joysticks (1983, which I've found out has recently being re-released on Blu-Ray through a boutique company release) among many other movies and some TV shows that aren't readily available commercially. And I also have the Despecialized Star Wars films on Blu-Ray also, mostly due to preservation purposes also (I have the films on VHS and Laserdisc).
Also, about Hush, I heard it was just re-released digitally (where you can purchase the film from other places digitally instead of having to watch it via Netflix). I haven't heard anything about a physical release (and I certainly would get it if I could).

Just for the official record, you should have NOT purchased these, and not for the reasons your thinking... These versions took a team of people who spent YEARS putting these together, and even MORE years putting together the 4k versions, and they made the available to people for FREE to share, they specifically said not to do whatever this seller did, and that is to download these original editions and make copies to sell people, and yet scumbags are doing it anyway... I am NOT coming after you or blaming you, but whoever sold those to you, is a real POS... That team that put those together and shared them with all for personal use, and never charged anyone did it out of love of the movies and did not do it to make money, people like your seller however pissed all over that, and did it anyway, he got those versions for free... Now I get things that are not available anywhere, and not going to say I never bought a few movies that there was no other option, and this is another case of that on your part..... but google Star Wars project 77 and read what went into those... and again I am NOT blaming YOU, or anyone else who bought them not knowing the history, none of this is directed towards you.. Alot of Warner Bros. dvds that was made in 2000's to mid 2010's are know to have disc rot. It is mostly the US made discs that are in muti disc sets, The movies that have the cardboard case with the plastic disc tray are bad for it. Not as many of the single disc in the plastic cases are problematic it seems. Most of the Made in Mexico discs are fine. For some reason some of the US disc plants had a lot of problems. With Star wars I have a Blu-ray collection. Of the original six films, I have the 4K versions of the original trilogy, I have the original trilogy on DVD with the original cuts. And I still wanted the despecialized editions.
If you look into it the people that get in trouble are the people making them not the people buying. I think the only reason why people got in trouble with Napster back in the day was because not only were they downloading but they were sharing at the same time.
Also corporations realized it was bad PR to fine 13 year olds downloading Disney episodes.

There's a lot of films that I just don't understand why they never made a physical D v d or cut transferred to blu ray. Obviously these movie companies are hoarding some of their titles. Columbia Pictures being one of the chief offenders. There are so many good titles from colombia. Then I would love to see just a standard blu ray. Not to mention 20th century fox, which who knows, if any of those older titles will ever be released. So I have gone out and found bootlegs of certain titles that I have to have in my collection, and I, these bootlegs, look amazing and the cover art sticking with the original movie poster. Makes it twice as inviting. I can't stand companies like warner bros that put on half Baked images on their releases. I usually do make a copy of the original movie poster onto a picture and slide it over the atrocious artwork.
I absolutely support bootleg markets, and as you said, if they ever get around to releasing them officially again, I will rebuy them
