- Is the Sony a6000 worth it in 2021? It is a seven year old camera and it seems to be quite dated with specs but is it worth getting in 2021. If so, who is it for?

It was my first mirrorless camera, and it's great for beginners. I've upgraded to the a6400 (mostly for the eye focus), but I kept my a6000, just in case.

@@naveenm489 It does NOT have AF eye focus. That's one of its few drawbacks, but considering when it was created, it's an amazing and affordable camera to own. I still have mine.
@@naveenm489 single shot eye focus, so it only works when you hold down a button and isnt even close to how accurate it is on the a6400.

VERY in depth review. I really appreciate it, I bought one January of this year MAINLY for autofocus and a few other features which I believe made it stand out over the canon m50 which is a much newer camera. I’m not a photographer but I needed a camera mainly for live streaming and I will do some photo and videography. I believe this will work well for me, I noticed you made several comparisons with the a6000 to Sony’s newer a7 series and those are superb but also EXPENSIVE. I believe to be released in 2014 and still be a point of discussion in 2021 makes this camera an absolute beast. I know photographers who use mainly an a6000 for their work and the results are unbelievable. Thanks again!

I still use this camera for street photography takes amazing stills. And I have from Nikon, Fuji, Hasselblad, Mamiya and Canon cameras. And I still grab this when going out mostly. It's light, great stills, you can use adapted lens, can fit in your pocket and small bag what more do you want :)
Thanks Jason. I'm still shooting on the a6000, scored a good deal on it second hand and it does what I need it to. Audio is the big pain point for me, but I just picked up the Zoom F2, and I'm thinking that is going to work well to deal with that. Flip screen is another problem, but I got the little mirror to slide into the hot shoe and that's how I deal with that. The fact that people are still using this 7 years later is a testament to what a beast it was when it came out.

Hey man, great video helped me a lot in finding the right camera for beginning my journey. Just has a little complaint about the background music, it gets way to loud from 5:30 to 5:52, ur voice was a bit inaudible. Other than that, the video was damn awesome.

Just recently upgraded to an A7IV (my first full frame) from the A6000. I was able to get a lot of great photos with the A6000 and I highly reccomend it. Especially for beginners because you can learn how a 'real' camera works for a low price and still get great photos.
I needed to listen to what you have to say about this camera but I had to stop the video and do some push-ups. Good job. On those guns and on the video. lol ;)

I'm on my second a6000 :-) mainly used for travel images when we could travel! Also use a a7ii for more home travel use
It just has such great image quality even though it's 7 years old.
A6000 is like my small brother. I have been loving it since I got it in 2019 and I'm still loving it. Trust me this small camera can do a whole lot of things that you cant believe..❤️😀👍

The A6000 is still a very decent camera for its price range. Very great for streaming too. But since it’s 2021 now, I would probably aim for the A6100 instead because it has features that the A6000 doesn’t have such as 4K Ultra HD, a flip screen, and a mic port I believe. It’s the least expensive 4K Sony camera currently. Definitely gonna get one soon.

I’m new to all this and hoping to be able to capture the Milky Way and aurora Australis this July. Doing all my research now before i purchase. Thankyou for your advise.
this will do that just fine. Pair it with a wide lens and dial in those perfect settings and you will have your shot :)
Awesome vide, I wanted to get this body with a nice telephoto lens, but I I ended up with a d5600 with the kit 18-55 and 70-300 kit lens because I was on a budget and wanted to get into wildlife photography, but I gotta say, it kinda hurts when my camera can only do 4-5 fps since that matters for birds in flight, while this little does 11fps, but Sony lenses are just too in the lower price ranges.

Yes
In short, you can absolutely do professional level stills work with the a6000.
For video, you will be limited, and there are better options in the same price range. (Panasonic G7 or Canon M50)

i would suggest to get the 50mm f1.8. definitely would make your images look better than what you can get with the kit lens

I've looked at the new Tamron 17-70 but it's expensive for me 😅
I've thought about getting the 12mm samyang since I do a lot of landscape and a zoom (I mainly use around 40-60 mm most of the time besides that)
I only have the kit lense and a few old manual ones right now.

Best FHD video in the entire a6XXX line of cameras. If you are like me and resisting 4K for CZcams, this might be an inexpensive options. Because it is an old camera, there are lots of accessories for it, new and 2nd hand. I like the a6000 and it's little companion the a5100 (has flip screen and touch focus) ... Good Show, Cheers

Hey I was watching your video and I was looking for a decent camera to record storms and get good photos of storms, is the video quality good enough do you think for thunderstorms/weather?
I think you can but you would need a camera body with great IBIS to get good results.
Try OMD cameras since they also come with live composite which is also great for taking lightning shots.
I believe the camera just got discontinued, yet it's still topping the best sellers list in a few major outlets.

One big bummer about the a6000 is that it doesn’t have a headphone Jack which makes it way harder to use external microphones. At least that’s been my experience. Otherwise a great camera.

It’s up to u but I would personally go with the a6000 because it has a viewfinder. But don’t necessarily take my advice I am just a beginner 14 year old looking for a camera
I have a Sony a6000 since 2018
I return to shot some photos last year and after a new entry (sigma 30mm f1.4) I don’t know what I want to do....switch to 6400 or another camera or buy another lens like a zoom or another prime lens.

It's tough as it depends how many lenses you got. Lenses are the expensive part and not the camera bodies

Hello friend, one question, do you recommend the Sony a6000 for long streams, I have a little doubt and fear since I do live streams on twitch and they are long maybe 4 or maybe 6 hours and obviously the camera will be connected to a fake battery connected to the electricity all the time, that's why the reason for my fear when streaming I don't know if the camera overheats they told me that the Lumix G7 doesn't overheat in video and I don't know which one to choose I would appreciate it if you gave me your opinion, I hope see your answers, thanks.

Just getting into photography/videography and mainly using it as a camera for CZcams Videos/Car related pictures/videos. I wanted the A6400, but that's kinda too expensive for me. Would the A6000 be good for this? Or do you have any better recommendations?
If you are ok with shooting only in 1080p, this camera will do great. I do suggest try find a decent lens to pair with it
I bought a6000 quite a while ago and still don't feel the need for upgrading. It packed in a lot features still worth it. I just love it.😍😍😍. I am still using the kit lenses came with it, but still getting very satisfying results.🔥
On the other hand features lacking in it in comparison to a6100 and other cam make us better. That's what I feel.
technology has come a long way and the a6100 essentially is the newer version of this and better in almost every way

i honestly would suggest the 70d only if you have really good lenses already. otherwise if you switch you will need to think about getting new lenses

Nov 2021 and this is still my wedding camera, along with 35 f1. 8 and i still made a killing out of this, sure it lacks the premium features, but this just works, fast and accurate focus + creativity is all y I u need to make a living out of this camera, bought mine 2nd hand back in 2015 at still is my main camera now, my a7c is for my 2nd shooter i rarely use it professionally which is ironic for a semi-professional grade camera lol..
Of course, I just bought one a month ago, it's crazy good for pictures, still needs to figure out how I can upgrade my video quality

Canon g7x mark ii or this camera for vlogging/video recording?
I’ve had my Sony A6000 since 2016 just before the A6300 came out its never let me down, I’ve got numerous lenses zoom , wide angle plus a pancake lens and a Sigma Prime lens. My camera looks new takes a great picture I don’t feel as though I need to change it but I do have a spare camera 📷 a Nikon D60 which I also use and I’ve had since new.

Does the video option have a time limit? Can you only film for a certain length of time?
a6000 is my 2nd camera, I have the expensive A7Riii as my main, tbh for those snapping around the house, on trips and stuff with odd videos I doubt you will be disappointed, you do have to pixel peep at large magnifications between the a6000 and one costing many thousands of pounds, plus its so goddamn portable, big cameras sound like a good idea until you realise you become a target for thieves, look like a show-off and worried about damaging it etc. Buy the a6000 with confidence, I have had it for quite a few years, its solid as a rock providing you keep it under your coat in wet weather.
Also have the a7riii and in other countries i think i need a less expensive smaller camera (for less developed countries) looking into a6000 and 18-105 lens as a 2nd more portable camera!
@@gregscott4455 The A6000 is a great little camera, it was the one I replaced, tbh the small size is a real bonus, you wont be disappointed, full frame sounds great but the lenses are much larger and expensive.
I used to take more pictures with my a6000 because I could carry it almost anywhere. My only tip with that one, is make sure you do a custom white balance at the start of every shoot, as the auto whitebalance is not as intelligent as the more expensive A7 series.
Still using mine now, best p/p mrl camera imo

i would suggest a longer focal length and something good under low light. you could try the 18-105mm f4. decent performance and okay under low light
