Thanks for the review! Best so far on this laptop. Did you try installing any Linux distro on this laptop? I'm afraid there are incompatibilities with the processor but not too sure if any distro can handle it well :/
Hey! That's a great question!
Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient time to test Linux on it. From what we can find out, Linux isn't ideal on Ryzen platforms just yet. It might have changed, but we are unable to confirm.

For those wondering, I bought it and installed Ubuntu 18.04. it works fine but the Bluetooth hasn't been working well so far. Fingerprint scan doesn't work as expected. Gotta find workarounds, but it's working fine

@@fraufuchs9555 I'm using the MateBook D 15 with Linux Mint right now. Bluetooth and everything else works great except for the fingerprint scanner. There is no Linux driver for the fingerprint scanner.
Do Honor phones (sister company of huawei) acceptable on the huawei share platform of this laptop?

It's adequate for really basic graphic design use, but I'll still recommend something more powerful. Any gaming laptops would be far more suitable.

I'd go against the MateBook D 15 if you need a proper webcam. The position is just atrocious.
Either the Lenovo or ASUS VivoBook S15 is great for the use case - but if you can hold off your purchase for a while, there's a new VivoBook S15 announcing soon - with the new Intel 11th Gen processors.
How to turn on keyboard backlight?

That's a good question and I think it depends on a few things. If I'm taking the laptop out a lot, then the ZenBook is better because of its build quality.
Also, the ZenBook is *slightly* better at gaming but sacrifices multitasking capability.
For me personally, I think I'll go for Huawei MateBook D 15 since I have another desktop for serious work and gaming.
Just have to be careful with the laptop since it's quite plasticky.
How is it for online classes? The camera and microphone are good?
It's definitely good enough... but the webcam is something that you have to judge yourself. It's going to show your nostrils/chest more than anything else.
Hi! is this laptop good for multi-tasking between autocad and microsoft office? If not, can you please recommend me any affordable (RM3k) thin/slim laptop which is good for multi-task and autocad? hdmi port & upgradable ram is preferred...
Definitely not good for AutoCAD or any other CAD software.
I recommend you getting an entry-level gaming laptop for that - perhaps something from Illegear or wait for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14.

Rather quiet, I'll say. Heat issue is nothing to be worried about for web browsing and office use.

I don't have the exact numbers with me, but it's not that _color-accurate_ .

Hi, would you rather buy the Huawei Matebook D15 or MSI Modern 14 b10rbsw-407 or B10MW-251? Just for normal working, but still get something that's bang for buck.
If those 3 are your only choices, I suggest getting the MSI Modern 14 B10RBSW-407
@@NasiLemakTech oh thanks for your suggestion! Could you let me know your justification? I have no clue about tech and there's not much info about this MSI unit.. is the mb ok? Is the RAM upgradeable? I think it only gives a 256gb SSD and i5.. but I don't want to spend more to upgrade it any soon..
Only bad thing about the Huawei for me is the awkward camera position..

Both won't work well for multimedia students.
I highly recommend you to look for the ASUS VivoBook S15 S533 instead.

NasiLemakTech I’m not sure, but I’m going to the matriculation next month and i choose a modul 3 which consist of subject bio, chem and computer science. Is it good for graphic designers and what about the color accuracy?
The performance is definitely not good enough for that use case. The color accuracy is somewhat okay, though we can see some unequal color vibrancy, particularly since it has a higher green saturation.

It's much easier using a powerful smartphone on this laptop for gaming 5G It's all about configuration And also attachments

If you found a new D 15 that looks identical but comes with 11th Gen, then I'd expect it to be good too. Just the price is an issue.
How long does the battery went use (Game,Movie,Office)? approximately ....hours and Standby approximately... hours
Approximately... if gaming then it'll be much lower, obviously. Standby can go about 9 hours maybe? Depending if the screen is turned on or off, brightness, and also if music is playing, etc.

Definitely not. For any sort of CAD software, I highly recommend getting a laptop with at least an i7.

Yeah it's good enough. I'd recommend the HONOR MagicBook more since it's slightly cheaper and has a properly-positioned webcam.

I'd say it works, especially for basic editing. It won't be a smooth experience, especially if you want to use some fancy effects.

The battery life is highly dependent on what you're doing with the laptop. From our tests, it is actually quite decent.
For the Huawei Share, it works with only Huawei or HONOR phones.

A lot of differences, The Matebook D 15 is meant to be for budget users. The MateBook Pro is much higher end in comparison.
What about screen specs? Could you tell me sRGB % value ?
We don't have the number but I can see the green/yellow saturation is quite high.

I think the MateBook D 15 does have great value for the $$$. However, it cannot be upgraded. If this is all you need, then it is very worth the price. If you're looking for more or perhaps to upgrade a bit more, then it is difficult to recommend.

There are a few choices.
VivoBook S14 M433 with the Ryzen 5 4500U at RM2,899
VivoBook S15 S533 with Intel + NVIDIA at RM3,199
Or if you want something that's simple, the MagicBook at RM2,299.

Not really. Premiere works best with NVIDIA, so I recommend you to get some other laptops instead.

Depends on what type of programming, actually.

We don't suggest you to use this thin and light laptop to do high demand computing such as AutoCAD. Unless your project is very simple

It is running Windows 10 without any issue. Only Google services are affected as of now.

Those games shouldn't be a problem with the lowest graphical settings.

Hi, thanks for your video. I bought the European version of the MateBook D 15, but in this version I only has the 256 SSD installed, and the place for the second hard drive is empty. So I want to install it alone, but I only find on the internet the connector (DD0H95HD010) for the hard disk and not the caddy . Do you know where I can find one, knowing that where I am located (FWI), there is no huawei center service… Thank you in advance.
Hey Greeg, the MateBook D 15 doesn't come with the bracket out of the box? If that's the case, my recommendation isn't exactly... good. Perhaps a thin slide of double-sided tape can hold it in place.

At this point in time, it depends on what you're doing.
AMD is cheaper and has better graphical performance (not by much) and Intel is the inverse.
For high end go for intel

Yea, this MateBook is good for student and light uses - like Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, CZcams, some Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, all of that stuff.
Advantages of this laptop is definitely the price.

Better get something more powerful. This laptop with Ryzen 7 is still not as good as something like the VivoBook S15 S533 with an Intel Core i5 + NVIDIA MX250

I’d advise you to return it as I had bought it for my son and we realised that the camera is in the keyboard (but it was too late to return it 😞) and this is not ideal for virtual meetings. Other than that the laptop is very good.
Is the viewing angle of the d15 laptop 180° like the d14?

@@nononsense2247 I figured out that if the laptop is on a desk that is a little lower than usual, the picture on the camera looks all right - not ideal though but I thought of buying an external camera but didn’t do that yet. Thanks
