As much as I hate nu-Star Wars. The light whip was a weapon in the EU long before Disney took over.
The whip is hardly the issue with this show. Just kinda funny how they go back and take something from the EU now when they have already ruined the franchise.
the EU is not canon. The EU is extended universe - and this is by design, because Lucas could not veto every single BS others had produced - and some of it is really, really bad. a light whip is one of the turds.
With disney you have the turds of the EU back, and none of the good stuff.

They meet up, first they fight, then they discover that actually the 'good guys' are up to something, and then the twins work together to stop the good guys that are actually the bad guys, and se wee that the bad guys (Sith) aren't really that bad.
And then the plot twist comes and they both find out that their father is actually their uncle!

The lightwhip first appeared in the old Marvel Star Wars comics, with a darkside Force user called Lumiya. She was an OK character, actually, maybe not ready for primetime, but she eventually turned up in the novels before the Disney apocalypse.
There was a lightsaber whip in the books, but at least it was done right. An Luke had to construct a shoto light saber to counter it. But this is just garbage!

I have to admit, the impression that the trailers and ads for “The Acolyte” have had such a surprisingly significant impact upon me, that I have already set aside the time and made all the necessary arrangements so that I can be ready for June 4th.
When “The Acolyte” two episode premier hits Disney+, I am going to be in my recliner, with plenty of popcorn and cold drinks, excitedly watching ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING ELESE EXCEPT “The Acolyte”.
And when I say anything else, I mean ANYTHING ELSE including, if necessary, grass growing, paint drying, dust settling on the television stand, and/or cobwebs forming at the corners of the ceiling.
Those activities will be a far better use of my time than watching “Lame Lesbian Chicks In Space”, conceived, written, produced, directed, acted (I am using that term loosely) and filmed entirely by people who were chosen specifically on the basis of being utterly and completely ignorant of anything related to “Star Wars”.
I can hardly wait! The anticipation is almost too much to bear!

To be fair, there was a character named Lumiya who had a lightwhip in the classic 90's Star Wars Expanded Universe of comics. So it's not a new idea by KK/ Headland and Co. However, I agree that it looks and comes across way better in the comic adaptation than it does through Headland's woke, feministic goggles. Lumiya was actually a pretty cool character who was an ex flame of Luke's (if I'm not mistaken) turned dark assassin in like a ninja type Vader costume with a cape.

The Dark Lady Lumiya from Legend's used a lightwhip. Also Githany from the Darth Bane books also used one. So they aren't new.
Also the whole twins thing isn't new either there have been many twins in star wars. X-1 and X-2 come to mind. There's also Arcann and Thexan. But I wouldn't expect you to know that as it seems like you really don't know that much about star wars to begin with.

It has the least amount of subscribers of all of the major streaming sites and the highest rate of cancellations and subscriber fall off of all of the streaming sites.
No one has ever watched a Disney Plus show, Disney Plus shows are not talked about, Disney Plus shows are not meme'd, referenced or suggested by anyone, no one has ever said to a co worker "Oh my God you have to watch Loki, Echo and Obi Wan!"
... these shows are all Flops with a handful of viewers each, that's why the Willow series was erased, as it made more money for Disney as a Tax Write Off than it did as a product driving subscriptions.

My reaction to the Acolyte trailer - First question - Where are all the male actors? Second question - Who are all these people that I am seeing on screen? Who is the main protagonist? I do not know. What is the basic plot structure? I do not know either. This series looks like a CW show...Star Wars version.
