- Dealing with dull, dry, frizzy hair or have itchy/dry scalp? A hot oil treatment can help give your hair a huge boost of moisture, softness, and shine! Hot oil treatments are great to add into your hair regimen. Either it be once a week or a few times a year. It also works for all hair textures.
How often do I do them?
When needed. But in the winter months I do them about once a month.
You can do a treatment overnight, sit under a hooded dryer, or add a heated cap . By Adding the extra heat to the treatment, you'll get more of the benefits from the oil. You can make your own blend of oils but I love this mixture for all that it gives to my hair. After the treatment, I rinsed my hair, then continued with my wash day.
What oils did I use?
Castor Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Jojoba Oil
Arian Oil
Peppermint Oil
(peppermint oil should always be mixed with other oils. you shouldn't use it alone)
I got these oils at Whole Foods + GNC
Products used:
Crocodile Clips

Applicator Bottle

Plastic Caps
Hot Head Cap

I love how you explained everything you were doing and why you were doing it. It really made it easy to follow Great job!
That Hot Head is the truth! Simple to use, and actually does what it says it does. If you are like me, and hate the sound and immobility of a dryer, I would suggest a Hot Head.
+imgrownforreal it's the best thing!! So easy to use
imgrownforreal were do you get it at

I did this today along with a deep conditioner as 2-in-1 thing. Hair's never been so soft 🌟😌
I love your hair. Seems no matter how hard I try, it doesn't style well enough!
I think your hair is beautiful tho
Yessss I was able to repurpose a lime juice bottle for this technique!! Thank you
Just watched your video and did my own hot oil treatment and I’m AMAZED at my results!!!! Hoping this moisture and shine and softness lasts!!! You always do such great videos!!! And your hair is beautiful! Thanks💗

I have to treat my hair today 😩 I have all my oils this is very helpful I was looking I found this one to be the one I need
This video was super helpful. I didn't know this cap existed. You just saved my life lol. I will be looking into this cap. 😊
+Johanys Gomez yay! Glad it was helpful! Oh yeah that cap is a hair saver for sure lol
@@ActuallyAshly where did you get the heated cap from?
I found out where you get it.
Man look at those curls!!! Gorgeous!!!
I pretty much use the same oils Ashly lol, except I also add grapeseed oil and rosemary essential oil for scalp stimulation and hair growth. Just a little side note : ) Great video as always : )
+bellathelady yes that's a. nice blend of oils! Thank you!!
Yes they are and welcome! : ))
Thank you for posting this video! And how detailed you were with the products! This will definitely help me with my healthy curly hair journey ❤️
Gotta start doing these again.. I used to always to do this as a prepoo to detangle but then I started doing it after my conditioner and I loved it! ❤️❤️
+Jasmine Joi nice!!! My hair loves it especially during the winter time
Tried this today....so awesome!!!
Clear, concise and to the point! Thanks so much!😊
What's the difference between a pree poo and a hot oil treatment? I'm so confused , someone please help me 😩 with a pree poo you do it before you wash your hair using oil. And a hot oil treatment is the same thing but with the oil heated up. So are they the same thing?
You have extremely beautiful hair. Thanks for sharing ❤
very helpful from oils used to steps in application to wash, shower, style,...i really enjoyed the video.
Should I wash my hair first if it's really needed??
This video is so helpful :0 Thank youu💕
+Sarelly yay! So glad it helped!
AMAZZZZZZING!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Loved your video, why do you do a hot oil treatment before you wash your hair? Can this be done outside of wash days?
Hi Ashly! Do you prefer to do it in fresh washed hair or as a pre-poo? Thanks!
+Juanny Andrade I like do it before I wash! Pre poos I usually do oils and conditioner so a little different.
Nice
Thanks for sharing I make an oil similar to this one. I oil my scalp every other day and massage my scalp.
+Donnie Love yes! I love massaging oils into my scalp I usually use Almond oil and peppermint to massage. What do you use??
Thanks, Ashly. I needed this video.
I learn a lot from your videos. I'm going to give this a try soon
+Sara Price I'm glad they help!!
OMG! I want that hot cap this is a must try thanks😊👍
Hi
Do u wash ur hair first?
What do u apply after u shampoo it out? Cuz ur end result was gorgeous . What product do u use on a daily ?
Your hair is flourishing!
+Hope2luv thank you! I just watched my first CZcams video and I can't believe how much my hair has changed
Omg your video was so helpful!!! I will be trying this! And as for the hot head I will be trying that out as well because it may come in handy since I'm staying on campus and all.
+LaurenLanae omg the hot head is so great and convenient
Explained this beautifully
My hair has always been dry, dull and itchy. I'm going to try this and I'm hoping that it works
Do you do this treatment on clean hair or hair that is days into a wash and go(has product build up)?
That’s what I want to know
clean hair
Thank you so much ❤
This was very helpful on what oils to use.
I thought that the steps are to fist wash your hair and then do the hot oil treatment and rinse with cool water. So that threw me off.
Officially a fan 😍 keep the vids coming
+Mari Marie 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 you the best!
Great lesson!
So you don’t have to put anything nag on your hair afterwards? How often do you do this? Will you need to moisturize your hair the next day? I’m curious about after care.
Love your videos! Definitely will be trying this soon. Haven't done one in years
+Arteresa Lynn 🙌🏽
Loved it!!
wow ,great!!! thank you
Finally some one with hair like me 🤣
Thanks for the great video, I was just wandering if you have to wash the oil out.
Faye Thompson I know that this is 7 months late, but yes. Wash it out. 🤗
Woooww look at you beautiful!!!!
yesss ashly bae i need a hot treatment done to my hair , my hair is screaming for it , yikes
Will definately try it on my locks
do u always have to shampoo condition hair after the hot oil treatment once thats done wat do u put in hair leave in
Wow Gorgeous hair!!
I'm going to try this . I haven't done one in years! I'm pretty much starting over minus the big chop. How do you maintain your styles after like a day or two? My hair gets soooo dry like day 2/3 after I LOC or LCO
I love using refresher sprays! Because it adds moisture without weighing down my hair with more product!
are u able to leave the oils for next time? or do u have to remake the mix
Is the hot oil treatment only for a pre poo? Could you use it before styling?
Can we use vitamin e oil?????
Love your videos
How long did you keep oil into the pot to get it hot?
Nice video!!
Beautiful hair😍
Shoot!!!! How can you tell if your hair is dry and needs to be moisturized? what should natural moisturized hair look like?
if it looks like straw!
@@sharynfernandez7503 Thanks that helps!!! So could your hair look like straw 2 days after moisturizing?
What happens if you use peppermint alone.
Peppermint oil is an essential oil so it needs a carrier oil (like castor or grapeseed or coconut, etc). It is way too strong and even harmful to your body to use it alone or in copious amounts.
Beautiful
Should ii wash my hair first before ii do this?
Did you just wash out the oil or did you wash it out and follow up with shampoo and if so what shampoo did you use?
+Maya Posey I rinse out the oils then followed up with shampoo and conditioner! I used Eden Body Works Peppermint Shampoo.
i have 4c hair that hardly retains moisture. can i wash my hair before then do the hot oil treatment to leave in till next wash day?
I think it’s best to do this right after shampooing to avoid it just to sit on your scalp it’ll be really bad to do treatments are meant to be rinsed/washed out
I have to try this.
+Tipp Waddle yes!
Where can I purchase these oils. I use Jamaican black castor oil but the bottle is so small it never seems to last long enough
+Shari Cuffie I bought mine at Whole Foods and GNC!
Can i do this after Washing?
We India every Saturday we take as oil Bath
Do you use warm or cold water to rinse it out??
I think you use cold water to rinse it out since you still need moisture in you’re hair
Is your hair 'natural' or did you perm it ?
You are so beautiful!
What's your hair type?
is there such a thing as adding too many different types of oil to the treatment?
Sav Barfield Honestly in don’t think so, I’m pretty sure you can add as many different oils to your treatment. just know what works best with your hair and you should be good 😎
can i use coconut oil😅
+trupti bhandary you can use whatever oils you'd like
trupti bhandary yes coconut oil is reallyyy good
I find that everyone uses coconut oil but mine and my daughter’s hair doesn’t like it especially in large quantities. Lol. We still use it cause I mean it’s coconut.
Can I leave it in my hair if I braid it after
As long as you rinse the treatment out
❤️❤️❤️
i love your video💕
How often do I do a hot oil treatment
+Nichole Cannedy you can do them as much as you need them. I do them when my hair is really dry. So n the winter months I do them about once a month.
good video
+AfroVictim thank you!
Do you deep conditioning as well
Ladies don't get upset like me today when Lush Cosmetics say kinky is getting discontinued
+Latifah Johnson whattttttt?!
Actually Ashly yes I just went Sunday & they told me.... I'm like noooooo I haven't tired it yet 😕
👍😘
🖒❤❤
What's your porosity
+Marie Beckles I honestly have a mix of porosity all over my hair lol
now girl you know that water pressure dog water, get a new shower head baby pls!
When you only have olive oil
you can still do it, with just one oil
