In 1975, I did something similar to the birch doss to saw, but only added two springs on the sides, at the slightest stuck repulsive, very aerodynamic, that's my way to buntail
---- I'm a 75 yer old carpenter and I'm surprised that someone took the time to make a 12 inch high stool out of a small log end -
It would make a nice feeder for squirrels or something in the yard
I can tell you why... It's called "click bait".
It has been called many names including " Homesteaders Mill " over the years. There is a variation that uses a ladder as the guide.
Thank you very much for sharing with us this beautiful Ideas may God bless you guys
"Why is it not patented"? Because running a saw along the guide of a wooden jig has been done a bazillion times, in a bazillion ways, by a bazillion people. LOL
Obviously the purpose was clickbait
Well said. Quite simply a sawmill
Hundreds of millions, alaskan saw my friend
*For a bazillion years
Bazillion not even a thing
it is really useful method. thanks for sharing 👍
thank you, my friend!
There are already chainsaw saw mills on the market. One such is called the Alaska Saw Mill.
Running one with a Farmertec G660 and 36 inch bar. Great for planking
Well that is if you want to spend $100 on one or more. That or got some nice wood laying around to make a simple one for no extra money. I prefer saving money where I can.
The Alaskan will be way more sturdy. We used to run them with 72” bar and 2 stihl 090 on both sides.
This is a toy.
@@dukester5932 it's called beginners level. Sturdy is objective but idea is what counts here. If you want to go pro 100 percent yes buy something you can be sure of. However to simply dismiss on grounds that there is better means nothing to those on a budget. Pros and cons to everything.
@@MildarValsik That's it, detrick you are dismissed!
A decent variation has been patented... The Granberg "Alaskan Mill" as well as several others...
Very cool talent, thanks for sharing 👍
thanks for support, friend!
This is an old idea. It's called an Alaskan mill. I've had one made of aluminum for years. They come in many different sizes.
Yes, but they are over a thousand dollars. Home made sure is cheaper.
@Ronald Fowler I agree, way too expensive. Although, some are available on FB marketplace for reasonable prices.
You can buy one for under $100 😂
And WAY more versatile!
so did I.
Thank you very much can't wait to try
Nice example and demo of an Alaskan mill… I made one and use it a lot. I can get a log cut into more easily handles thick planks I can rip with my bandsaw. The home made mill is very inexpensive and works well. Good job.
That's a brilliant jig 👏👏 simple and easy ! Than you for sharing ❤️
It is patented. It's an Alaskan chainsaw mill and been in use as long as chainsaws been around. They make all kinds of mills to attach to your saw without drilling holes through the bar, the one thing bar manufacturers tell you not to do. Why drill holes in a $150 42" bar when they make mills that clamp on?
You go boy~!👍
I'm a 50 year old carpenter and I am not surprised.
It's the established method of making lumber with a chainsaw since forever.
You don't patent things that has been around for decades.
Chciał bym poznać debila który by opatentował,zbicie 5desek xd😂
Clever ideas. 👍
Great idea for chainsaw mill. Only problem are the nuts on the chainsaw bar would not be able to go through the slab. Maybe a long carriage bolt would be smaller and not interfere. Regardless, great idea and definitely something I’d do. Keep up the great work!
Hey Einstein, the bolts and nuts are forward and aft of the log
@@randolphsnyder1505 Hey keyboard tough guy, you’re missing the point to maximize the whole bar on slabs, not about this video. But you wouldn’t understand so no need to explain it to a troll like you… Captain Obvious!
@@randolphsnyder1505 👍 yeah, and also Mr. Einstein owes an apology to humanity for creating the nuke bomb and the "peacetime" nuclear industry. ✌️
@Tim Debaney
Einstein did not work on the A bomb, his E=MC2 simply showed a nuclear chain reaction was possible, I worked at NASA in the 60s building a space simulator and many of my fellow engineers had worked on the Manhattan project. I am not smart enough to judge the nuclear energy issue.I was just joking with you on my previous comment.
@@randolphsnyder1505 , ok 👍, at least you didn't criticize me for being off topic of milling lumber.
What do you think of the moon landing/or not "conspiracy theories?"
Could NASA have done it more economically than "Hollywood?" ✌️
I like the guide for the chainsaw, nice idea, but can I suggest using Nylock nuts to bolt the chain saw to the frame so they don't come undone due to vibration.
Patents are literally decades old, no sense in spending extra money as detrick will confirm.
Stover nuts hold much more securely than nylocks.
Why bother when the wooden frame is held together with drywall screws.
Awesome ! Thank You for sharing Your talents . 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Ein mini Sägewerk aber mit einfachsten Mitteln. Toll!
Brilliant idea.
Excellent video!!!
Thank you for showing,your way.
good idea!!
Very cool idea 🪚🪵
Thanks for your support!
Where there is a wil........ LOVE IT!

Great idea, thanks. Like ✌️
thanks for support, friend!
It is not patented because it is existing technology.
wow ,,, a three legged stool that still manages to be un stable ,,, well done I wouldnt have thought it was possible.
Super
So simple...thank you....Portman's Alaskan Mill
This is awesome
You do know their is a "skip tooth" chain for the saw right?
Originally it was my idea, but once searched the net for it & IT'S OUT THERE
sorprendente!! ..
- SUPER 👍👍👍
Super great 👍🇩🇰
Sensacional!
It always hurts my soul there's so much waste with a chainsaw.
I too hate wasting any amount of good hardwood. I keep all my usable scraps for knife handles and such. Wasting anything isnt good.
Get over it" 😜
@@jamesrichardson771 Wasting wood like that! They must think it grows on trees.
@@ianwhitford3596 you win. Lmao. That was some funny shit
Don't use drywall screws for carpentry. They have very poor sheer strength.
A 50 year old chainsaw hack nice
this is an electric saw + a new saw, it is 3 days old))
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Nice stool.
No manufacturer wishes to be sued for injuries resulting therefrom.
Nice video, I hope, but here a chain should be used for longitudinal cuts, then it can be sawed more safely and easily.
I mean, you knew he was the real deal the moment the Robogrip made its first appearance.
Nice
Is it worth putting on a ripping chain?
It's called a Canadian Mill. They've been around for decades tho usually made out of steel rather than wood.
Is that a ripping chain on the chain saw?
Never screw into the end grain of wood, it's not very strong.
That stool would've made a GREAT bird feeder, if you were to put a good roof on it, and some short "sides" on each of the three openings to allow the birds to perch on, and to help keep the birdseed inside of it. Then mount it on a 6" dia. wooden post about 5 ft off the ground. I'd have to put a squirrel barrier on the pole though. I have a couple large rounds for firewood that I might have to try that out on!!!!
I've seen lumber mills do this to very large tree trunks using 6 and 8 foot chain saw bars to cut table tops 4 or 6 inches thick.
Plunge cutting = serious possible kick back.
He should of used rollers instead of just a frame
At the end of your video it shows a stump, is that how you make a flat board?
It is patented and sold as The Alaskan Sawmill.
Since *I* am the inventor of the sawmill, I must insist that it is _I_ who should hold the patent. Here, hold my beer instead.
AMAZING,sometimes you really get to see an idea that looks worthwhile..........i might actually try this one........thanks....if it works i''ll buy you a real chain saw...........
I guess you have never heard of the Alaskan Chainsaw mill. It's only been around about 20+ years or more.
I no longer have any logs so I can’t even try this.
Cool
👍👍👍
A planesaw. Cool.
He lost me when I saw him running an electric chainsaw with a power strip hanging from it.
cool!
Das kenne ich schon mehrere Jahre.
Trotzdem, für andere toll, es zu zeigen.
At 2:08. Those sides don’t look parallel to me.
It is patented, it's called a Granberg Chainmill
❤❤❤❤❤
For cutting lumber? Already existed patented and marketed in Europe. I have one, not of wood, but of aluminium.
Lots of free time
I don't get the connection between the frame cut, and the little stump
👍🥰😁
