- About SURVIVAL
SpatialOS and UE4 enable this tech demo which hosts up to 1000 concurrent players in a single "game instance" with 10,000 AI opponents and 100,000 other individual game objects, like trees and rocks.
SpatialOS powers a massive 400km2 persistent game world where player actions have meaningful effects on everything in the simulation.

Nice, now if someone makes a successor to Planetside 2 (a game that has been hosting 1000+ player FPS battles since 2012) with this tech, then I'm a happy camper.
thats true shit.
Without the stupid 3:rd player mode, perhaps.
PS2 still rocks...but it defiantly needs a fire under it's arse to make that franchise better. This game might be nipping at their heels. Still though, this game will need squad play, lots of fun roll vehicles for air and ground to make it pass PS2 imo
@@etchasketch222 the game will be getting a dx11 update next year this will MASSIVELY improve the reputation of PlanetSide 2
@@franciscoxavier7066 no amount of fancy graphics can fix "50 people just shoot in the door" grind
Planetside 3!?
So THIS , is the fabled spacial OS , nice
Ive heard so many awesome things about spacial OS. looks amazing!!
Btw serious question...are you guys planning on releasing your survival game?? I know its just for demo but it looks sick. Honestly looks better than 75% of whats on steam.
Same!!
This could be the needed tech for a Planetside 3
Let's hope they're already working on it. Otherwise i might be to old to keep up with the youth.
If this Spatial OS comes to future VR that's going to be the sequel of "player one"
Prequel you mean. Ready player one is more intricate and expansive
@@neodore2657 ohh daym
I want this size and scope, but the ability for players to build their own mega bases/cities and have their own homes built within them. So they're all invested in keeping their alliance safe.
It may come in the future you never know
dual universe is that game
I would absolutely play this game.
But... where's the part where you show us the impact site?
This would be a awesome learning project for indie game developers and starting developers to see how its all been created and develop there game with there own art by replacing the existing onces.
Using SpatialOS would it be possible to get the developers a true taste of how to get going next.
If there are ever plans to release this under a license only going for education and non commercial use than this would become the most powerful oppertunity ever released.
Revennaras
I could make a course guiding trough a project like this, but the audience for this technology is small so a course like that would be a lenghty and expensive.
Don’t let us down guys
Can we play this game. Would love to.
Spatial os + Cyberpunk, would be fucking amazing
RIP. Nothing will ever be like planetside 2 apparently
RiP! Why what happened?
Sounds good, what happens when you have all players concentrated in one place since optimizations like: A doesn't need to know about B can't work ?
It looks awesome! Now I want to play it :(
this is awesome I'm trying to use the GDK for Unreal I hope I get to deploy it , but this looks very promising
Why does this have so little views? These guys need a marketing budget
Wow! :o
Will this be available as an example project? From experience example projects are so much better than vanilla documentation.
I HAVE to hear more
Very exciting tech, persistent open world MMO's! How is Improbable SpatialOS different from Novaquark? Pros & Cons between them. Can we work with Novaquark via a sandbox and Unity3D or UE4 like ISOS offers?
So this is the start of Deep dive tech like Sword art online. :D
I just assumed that SpatialOS was yet another smartphone OS, so I had no reason to check it out. Turns out its so much more.
This is awesome
I really enjoyed that
Looks promising
Can we finally get a MAG 2 cause of this?
Finaly, real brealthroughs.
Imagine 1000 wow player or StarCraft units fighting against each other
When can we play this
super!!!
Is the game out now and where can i download it ? Greetz
The future for MMO's?..
It's possible to play this game in first person?
Where is the link to play Survival? I want to play it!
HO LY SHIT Can't wait to see this used in mavericks!
Is this PC only?
Wonder if this will help evolve the mmorpg genre :$$
That's nice and all but my experience with Worlds Adrift shows it's not there yet. Seriously, the amount of lag and rubberbanding the game experiences as soon as there are more than 600 or 700 players is terrible! Right now, WA can only support about 500 players at the time.
This seems too good to be true... I want to know if this is work or not when a lot players are actually on.
The-Average -Joe
There are a handful of games using spatialOS. It works and the technology is opensource under MIT liscense so there are many more to come.
Now have this, but let people build cities and settlements, so people become invested in their alliance. I can imagine people building bases on top of rich energy deposits, and then another alliance doing a raid, resulting in a huge firefight.
Only 1000 people? Let’s be real here most mmos are much bigger than that.
Then let’s talk about pricing which is still a mystery and devs are dropping due to pricing. But I love the idea and I’m sure people can mimic this behavior in a private engine
Okay, SpatialOS aside, I’d like this to be a real game.. make it happen Improbable! :D
Game Mechanic looks nice.. it might work out well if you develop it for a few years!
But when will I get to play games my guys
Awesome demo minus the garbage TPP!
So does anyone actually know how to get access to this demo?
Is it possible to get the source code for this?
this will change the world ...... I believe......
The star wars game I wanted , but will never get
WHAT? OMG!
imagine a gta V like game but with all the real world multiplayers driving cars in real time .....
Release this demo as a game pls
You see, this is what No Man's Sky was missing
Who else is here for Mavericks Proving Grounds? (Got Mavericks Proving Grounds Vids on my channel)
People dont even know. Proving Grounds will be the final nail in PUBGs coffin.
I am hyped before the hype train has even been announced!
Is this Runescape 4?
Outset
Make Champions Online and City of Heroes successor please.
I wanna play survival... any chance of a release?
@@ImprobableIo0 Aww man so sad, well im excited to see your system in action. It looks truly amazing.
The future is now
Can we play that
@@ImprobableIo0 Will there be any tests/demos in the future? I'd love to participate in one.
On their website they say that there are no plans on making it public.
It's possible to download this demo?
Thank you for answering.
I NEED VEHICLES
I am totally curious could SpatialOS work on a single player game as massive as kenshi? store.steampowered.com/app/233860/Kenshi/ how would it be able to enhance a single player sandbox RPG game, would love a answer :P
Got some pretty bad lag going on.
And that is in the tech demo. So imagine how much worse it actually is!
Should have been around when they made atlas
Link me, to the game so that I may demo it!
Planetside...
How is this 400km sq when UE4's limit is 20km sq?
ue is 20km x 20km = 400km sq. source: I'm a ue developer. also, in ue it's not a hard limit and can be extended practically infinitely with world origin rebasing
SC is working on similar server meshing tech as well, and I cannot wait for persistence in our online worlds. But each SC moon is in the hundreds of km diameter range. Planets are in the thousands of km diameter range. I honestly do not see the need or want of having thousands of players in a 20x20km square. That is just way too many players. Will feel like trying to have a gunfight in a crowded dance club.
1000 players in a 20x20km map would feel quite empty actually. Do the math dude.
If the map is completely empty and all of the footprint is usable and you are only allowed to walk. The moment you have faster than human speed travel and areas you cannot access, it becomes very small. Do the math.
When I am 20km from an enemy in Star citizen I am already getting my systems ready for a fight and trying to scan them to see if I have to tuck tail or stay to fight.
No game can beat spatial os and ps 2 its impossible
Ik that the truth, imagine what Planetside 2 could be with more ideas with advanced droids and species
Im having difficulties believing this is a "demo" if this is a demo what's considered a real game?
Good luck to anyone with a card lower than a 1070 running this
I think the point of distributed computation is that there's very little performance overhead, allowing less beefy hardware to run it fine.
change the crosshair before deciding to sell this for 60$ on steam
SynC Kitty it’s a demo
I was kidding lol
Kill Planetside 2 with this, thanks.
no chance :D
Hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 makes use of this
Probably not, if you're lucky it'll be in a dlc, not totally improbable knowing the size of cd projekts dlcs.
Dont pull a NMS on us.
Is this fallout 74
Looks like if an MMO had a baby with a survival game, but it was born with a few too many chromosomes.
imagine this game in vr
So....SAO can be real?
Please dont say this is what Atlas used. Please.
I doubt it
well thanks unity for removing the awesome spacialOS, now I'll move my game to UE4. What a dumb move Unity.
you know will be better than SpacialOS ? , camelot unchained engine will have 3k players in 3 wars Realm versus realm with spells effects , so lets hope all of them succeed because it create better future for gaming
You do know that spatialOS is so scaleable that you could actually run the whole playerbase of a game (probably up to 50.000 players) on one game world simultaniously? So if we are talking playernumbers nothing can beat SpatialOS.
omar sameh 3k is low key nothing compared to spatialOS
I'm too old to focus on PVP, I can & do though find the distributed processing a valuable line to pursue. Persistence which in my mind can lead to evolution.... ideas are filling my mind. Yes, interesting work, not just for the children. (First machine, c64 1986)
VIC-20 for me 1983, such memories.
I hope its on consoles
I get the vibe you don't understand what this is.
Almost nobody here seems to really understand what it is lol
04:35 what an awful explosion
megaman explosion in 3d
Not SpatialOS's problem. That was made in UE, so it depends on how good the developer is.
Moron.
@@spaaaaace8952 contain your absolute dweebtism dipshit, he literally just said what an awful explosion lmao
mean it is a demo
That has nothing at all to do with SpatialOS
Screw fartnight
Rip wallet for the server/elektrical bill ect. Welcome trolls and hackers bigtime and what a gigantic mess it would all be,how many admins(kindergarden teatchers) would it not take. Not to talk about lag, potato pc out of sync.
Would be tenfold more mess and annoying things than we allready have with 80-100 players.
The theory is nice but it would be a catastrophe of format, cause the gaming world is simply not ready for this.
I wouldnt invest to many money in this. But you never know..
Nobody is going to play this game, because of how heavy it already looks. It would take months to optimize this game.
Thankfully it's not the game they're selling
It's basically planetside no one ever wins and there is no end goal so the game is literally a life waster
When is a game not a life waster? I believe thats the point of video games buddy. And anyways many players(Me included) actually enjoy these types of games, where you make your own goals.
It's a tech demo.
We don't need violence ... enough is enough
@I don’t see the Point of getting likes on a comment You sound like an even younger kid, seriously, people...
Seriously, wtf is up with always having the 3:rd person view when aiming or whatever? You have to walk further into enemy fire and whatnot just to get into aim of what you would normally be in aim of without the stupid 3:rd person mode. Why not make it 1:st person all the time? Why the hell does this stupid damn 3:rd person mode persist through 1:st person shooters nowadays? Just block it damnit!
It's a tech demo
It's easier to have 3rd person/1st person animations than to make special 1st person animation
Yea I'm not a fan of fps, but fps and 3rd together, now that I like. Give me that option fudge that!
Im more pissed that shooting games are still the norm in 2019. Been gaming since 97 and it seems that games have become too mind numbingly boring. No innovation 😔 (except for Minecraft)
Ok, as a game is quite nice but as a simulation for the potential future virtual world is completely STUPID. Fighting is the main theme of this game. Teaching AI that brutal force is the way humans "cooperate" with the rest of the world instead of trying to find a peaceful solution. Great. Very smart indeed.
Wojtek Czaderna
This isn’t Smart A.I. It’s very limited in what it can do even with in the game.
People really need to learn the difference between video game A.I. And actual General A.I. (Which is the type in Sci-Fi that always fucks over humanity).
They are not similar in any way.
@@Kingdomkey123678 You should add that actual GENERAL AI doesn't exist yet. We don't know how to make an AI that is both learning, smarter than us and capable of rewriting itself in this indefinite loop of self-improvement. At the moment our 'AIs' are bruteforcing solutions based upon neverending trial and error, deciding upon what to do based on fitness scores and statistics, instead of a core understanding of logic, ie. rational intelligence. We're so far away from any killer AI, it's not even funny we see people 'warn' for it. That's pathetic when you know where we are at with actual AI development.
Did this man actually think that it was a real ai...
What?! Are... _are you high?_
