Reykjavik actually has a pretty good bus system, and there are WAY cheaper ways to get from the airport to the city than a taxi.
Two years ago I came to Iceland and rented a small camper van for 7 days for $560. That is $80/day for lodging and transportation. I stayed in safe parking lots, so no campground type fees. You can pay about $5 and get a shower at campgrounds even if you don’t stay there. There is a Costco in Reykjavik so I bought groceries, which kept my eating expenses down and allowed for a restaurant dinner each night. Everywhere takes credit card; no need to exchange money. A really great trip. Travel doesn’t have to be fancy or overly expensive to have a good time.
Definitely. Looking into doing the camper van when I go back 👍🏼
Exactly. When tourists think they know everything best, that is strange. I'm an Icelander and pay 30 USD pr. month for unlimited heating for the house and all hot water, unlimited. 50% of Icelandic cars are electric cars and that's almost free. I lost my health. Each month I have about 2800 USD.
For information Iceland uses the same econimal system as Scandinavia. All Education free and Universities free for everybody, free healthcare and good social system.
The most peaceful country in the world.
Americans call this system communism. But the right thing is that this is a social democratic dystem.
The prices in Iceland are much more expensive than I thought, but the video is still very interesting, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🤩🙏
Hi
@@rajkonnavlog1012 The prices have gone up considerably in the last few months.
Omg you saying Reykjavik was like nails on a chalkboard to me. 🤣🤦🏽♀️
RaKe-JuH-VicK 🤡
I just came back from Iceland, only spent 1 day in the capital though. You dont go to Iceland to stay in the capital, you go to explore the island and its beauty. Highly recommend you go back to visit the nature it offers, one of the best experiences of my life. I travelled from Canada.
I went to Iceland 🇮🇸 a year ago and loved it! I agree it is expensive but it was a good experience! These $100 challenges are fun to watch 😅
Thank you! Such an incredibly beautiful country but expensive for sure
@@brettcontiYour hands carry germs you can't see, and these germs can be introduced to your food while you are touching it. Research shows that washing hands with soap and water could reduce deaths from diarrheal disease by up to 50%. Brett Conti every time you eat and touch the food without wash hand let me in nausea. As people who live in developed country must show good example to developing countries…
how to Bangladesh
Iceland is one of my top 10 favorite countries🇮🇸
My things to do list in Iceland
1. Visiting the capital city Reykjavik
2. Travel around the golden circle using the camper van
3. Blue lagoon
4. Glacier hike
5. And of course chasing aurora borealis
I'd prefer to rent a convenient a car and buy your own grocery supplies and cook your own food because it's expensive dining out. I heard some rental companies may provide butane stove so do your research on that.
I would love to see more of this country . Brett please go back and show us more ! Thanks !!! 🙏💗🙏
We visited Iceland last year and did a road trip around the whole country. My 3 favorite places were landmanalugar, the west man island, and the Westfords. Some other highlights, kayaking around the glacier bay near diamond beach. We loved horse back riding in the mountains. And hiking the volcano! The glaciers are beautiful, do a tour to hike it! It is an incredible country! So many great places!!
Thank you for this video, Brett! 😘😘😘 Watching from Canada! 🇨🇦
Wow $9 for gas is expensive. It’s crazy how expensive it over there. I hope they get paid very well to survive over there.
Well under Biden gas was almost 9 dollars here food expensive 🤣
Hi Vinny!
@@ChinaDollTravels ha ha ha Hi Liz lol 😂
@@tiffanycurtis4794you’re over exaggerating lol idk where you’re from but here in Texas the highest it got was 5
@@HSSANITOnot exaggerating when gas in Commiefornia was $9 a gallon last summer 🤷🏻♂️
Great video! Enjoyed the interview right at the end
Love when you do this type of videos and help budget travelers
Yes, please! I'm really curious about Iceland and I can't wait for you to go back and release some awesome video(s) about the country!!! 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸
Yes
Awesome memories about Iceland. I lived for 7 months in Reykjavik in 2010. A cool internship at the hostel near the gym/pool.
Thanks for this video, Brett. We wish you well.
I just got back from there it was very expensive but great food and beer!!! The excursions were great and expensive too. Beautiful country I’d love to do more!!
New favorite series!
amazing video Brett! Definitely a bucket destination.
Love this series
Hey Brett first of all really thank you for doing such an amazing content throughout , but boy I do not know have you somehow read my mind ?? for the last couple of days I was doing some homework on Iceland and was planning how much I will have to save in order to afford a trip to this beautiful place on earth and boom I see you uploading a fresh content that too on Iceland.
We are all connected!
Stay safe and keep smiling :)
Iceland is on my bucket list thx for sharing this info
I’m a new subscriber, we met in Japan
I love your videos I think they’re great!
Can’t wait to see more in the future
:D
Amazing buildings with different colours. The country has awesome views towards the tourists. Lovable place.❤
That church low key looked liked the palace in Asgard and right across was the café Loki. Damn! 😂
Beautiful place friend. Great video.
Great video. I’d love to visit Iceland. It looks gorgeous. In the UK it’s just under $9 a gallon where I live. Much more in southern area’s of the country. 👍❤️🖖
Amazing place, delicious foods it’s complete.thanks for sharing this video watching from Philippines with love.
Right
I visited Iceland in October 2021 during Covid, and loved the country. Yes, everything is very expensive there, including the restaurants, so I survived off those great hotdogs which cost about $4.25 at the time and cooked food from the supermarket at my hostel. Are the hotdogs really more than $7 now? There's a bus from the airport into town that costs much less than a taxi. What I liked about Reykjavik is that there were walking paths everywhere, so I could walk anywhere that I needed to go. An awesome walk is out to the Grotta lighthouse. Very close to the lighthouse, there's a pool of thermal water where you can dip your weary feet for relaxation while looking at the bay. There are several swimming pools around Reykjavik, and I recommend a daily visit to each one to dip in the hot water.
I miss Iceland!!! Hope to be back there soon!!!
I love this guys content. He is part of the reason I am moving to UAE Dubai.
I just returned from there, loved the city, as for food, some food halls did have great food at reasonable prices. This will be my one and only time there.
Need to see another Iceland video
Just btw, there’s no ch in Reykjavik
It’s BEAUTIFUL!
I used to live in Iceland for 10 years. And yes it definitely isn’t cheap there but people also earn more there.
And yes you should definitely go back to Iceland, I recommend that you visit the Westfjords of Iceland ❤
Never knew it was so expensive there!
A beautiful country nonetheless; I’ll have to check it out
We are going to iceland from May 6th to 15th and just finished all the bookings. Actually we found some really good Airbnb's and Hotels for less then $150 per night for 2 people. I think the most expensive hotel we booked was on the last two days in the city it was $204 per night. If you book 1-2 months in advanced you'll be fine! You can find some good deals
As far as fast food in Reykjavik and surrounding communities, they have Subway, and probably other US based stores. They even have Ikea and Costco there!
This is about the same or more than I could get in Ontario, Canada for $100 in 24 hours.
I live in the Waterloo region and a Big Mac meal is $16 with taxes in. Great video!!
i went and stayed in a guesthouse that had its own kitchen for guests so i would get groceries from bonus and cook my own food most of the time. the only food i did buy was a cup of lamb soup which was £15 but soo worthit!!
Yesterday Iceland reached 394,000 inhabitants and some 2.3 million tourists expected over 2023. That young man toward the end is so right, and the young can't or few can make that downpayment on an apartment
Hi! You should consider trying the $100 and $1000 in Krakow , Poland. Nice people, salt mine, craft beers, great architecture and the city was voted the best in EU for remote work. And for sweet tooth - definitely Wedel chocolatier shop/cafe:)
The salt mine is a must visit! Underground souvenir shops, restaurants, bars and everything! Also never felt as safe in a city as I had in Krakow
@@flynnd6516I took the tour in Polish, much cheaper than English. My eyes took the tour😅.
Reykjavik is [reykyavik] not [reyk-javik], where did you get the j sound from?
Brett are you checking out the Blue Lagoon? You should do a video!
My recommendation and depending what time you land at Keflavik airport is go strength to the Blue lagoon. is only 25 mins away and closer than the capital. excursion are expensive and will take up half your day I was there last month when the sun set at 23:30
Nice video. I think what u said about the hotel or Airbnb being roughly 400 dollars a night is a bit on the high side lol. There’s definitely plenty of places you can find for between 150-250 dollars. But yes there are some that will be 400 or more
The best tip is to eat at the pit stops. The food is good and cheap. I stopped at so many because in some places it’s the only thing available.
I love this channel so much! Iceland seems so fun! I’ve been subscribed since 400K
Yes
Wow Brett, in such a short amount of time, you gave the "real" experience of simply being in Iceland. I've seen so many videos of ppl's trips there but NO ONE spoke of the actual prices. Maybe one nomad did but I liked how you interviewed the two subscribers who gave an honest perspective of what it's like to live there. Very informative. I was hoping the Hot Springs would make the list but I see now the budget would not allow it!!!! LOL
Make oatmeal for breakfast. Subway sandwich places are good for cheaper meal. Have the mutton stew for lunch at tourist cafes.
Prices seem very similar to here in NZ!
My tips for Iceland to save money are 1) get a room that includes breakfast 2) pizza & 3) grocery store ham & cheese picnics.
Travelling to Iceland … pack some canned tuna , packages of cheeses , crackers ,biscuits, tea / coffee in your suitcase
Beautiful country, wouldn't want to be there in winter without sunlight, I can see why it would be so depressing.
Please do one $100 in Budapest
Will you visit Slovenia? You can experience a lot in Slovenia 😊
Lol come to australia right now, besides the gas prices, everything else seems cheap to me!
Aktu Taktu isn't the Macdonald of Iceland metro is the Macdonald of Iceland, it's even in the same building where Macdonald was
Thank you Brett...Now I know Iceland So so expensive🤣🤣
do more videos in Iceland dudee
I had the lamb shank in that Loki cafe too
Its not 24hr darkness here. The shortest day is Dec 21st sunrise around 11:25 and set around 15:30
Try this in Luxembourg
More about Iceland Please
Definitely want to go back soon!
@@brettconti I want to visit as well!
I wana see more of Iceland the ice and the snow.
Awesome video! I just went to Iceland a few weeks ago and it is indeed quite expensive. I basically subsisted off of pre-made sandwiches(each equivalent to $4/5 US dollars each) from the Bonus grocery store so that is another option to save money.
Full trip of iceland
I went on SEP 22 and last week to Disney California and Univeral Studios, and for the same 6 days I spend double in california than Iceland
Went to Iceland a few months ago, spent about $4000 for 5 days. Food flight hotels everything. Was worth every penny but I did go overboard with eating ALOT of food. Haha
A hotel or Airbnb in Iceland won't cost you 400$ per night, that's just completely untrue. The only way it would cost you that much is if you book it 2 days in advance AND if you come in peak season (July to September).
A hotdog, a coke, and a KitKat bar-that's literally my day in Iceland. 😅
I’m planning for a trip to Iceland for a week vacation for one person And was wondering if anyone can suggest what a good budget would be.
Venture the beautiful landscapes of Iceland in more videos 😎
I recommend for you to go to Saudi Arabia riyadh city its definitely not what I thought it was its great 👍🏻

I knew Brett would find that coffee 🤣☕️👏🏾

I'm headed back to Iceland in a few days ❤
I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland 😩.. everyone wants france and Italy but i want Iceland lol
Hi, what's the brand of your sunglasses? Thanks.
Can you do a Vlog in Australia
Can you also do an expensive video also?!
Nice. I been to Iceland. ❤
I went to Iceland in late Decemeber, and there was only 3.5 hours of sunlight per day, and snow and ice all over the place....It's nice to see the summer version of Rekyavik through your blog!
Brett welcome to my home country.
awesome!
0:40
3:16 13 bucks for Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Oh my
8:44 24 hours of daylight vs 24 hours of midnight those are some extremes
Wow the coffee and cinnamon roll cost the same here in Salt Lake City
That Icelander was cute.
Norway neeext🤞🏻
Oh my gosh I’m coming to Iceland next week 😂😂😂😂
Cool sounding currency
Great $100 challenge again. Never expected an Iceland video tbh. Thanks for trying this Brett! I'm loving these. ❤
Thank you!

I couldn't do it. I can barely sleep now in the States. I'd NEVER sleep there!
That sounds exactly like New Zealand atm 🥲🤦🏽♀️
if we would have access to international banks and had the euro our prices would definitely be much lower. our interest rates and inflation are always way higher than in continental europe
Yo what brand is that brown tshirt?
looks like i'm going to have to pack some instant noodles and Soylent when I go to iceland 😭 😂
