My Hero Academia 429, MHA 430 Spoilers, With My Hero Academia officially ending in just a few weeks we’ve been wrapping up our coverage of the final arc by explaining various stats from the final battle, and I wanted to do a short explaining all of the heroes who we lost during the final war, but no matter how high the tension was for our characters it actually turned out that we didn’t lose a single named hero during the events of the war. Despite this we did see some PRETTY serious injuries being handed out to characters like Mirko who will likely need another cybernetic enhancement if she plans on continuing as a hero, as well as Edgeshot who is now stuck in a tiny string man form after sacrificing most of his body to merge with Bakugo and heal HIM. All in all on one side it’s definitely amazing the heroes were able to save pretty much EVERY named hero we’ve seen over the course of the series, however as bittersweet as it would be if we lost one of them despite WINNING the war, it definitely feels bittersweet in a completely different way that I don’t think I like, that despite the MASSIVE danger they were all faced with, we didn’t lose one of the students or even one of the pro heroes, because let’s be honest, is there a reason for them to survive and retire instead of just dying with the series coming to an end?

It makes sense the villains caught the heroes off guard and won the first war and the heroes lost it all. and the heroes got the upper hand and won the second war with no casualties but major injuries and the villains died
Still doesn’t make any sense considering Fat Gum had a flower growing out of his mouth and Bakugo’s heart literally exploded.

@@cheese_vviznah they lost like a lot of heroes and those who didn’t die quit most werent named heroes but the impact of the causualties affected the rest of the named heroes so they rlly ended up losing that battle.
I like how you say "it make sense" that that happened and then proceed to say what happened instead of proving your point.
MHA students have better team work then the villains. also this is why I keep saying that the U.A students would give the X men a good run for there money.

I think Star and Stripes WAS that iconic death towards the end of the whole thing to give the viewers a shock but also some time to soak in what happened and how her sacrifice was so beneficial.

Doesn't really hold weight when she was introduced outta nowhere. Literally no build up throughout the whole series. It's just all of a sudden there's this super OP near reality manipulating hero
@@Mrsmile-by3oi well read the manga or watch the show it shows how slowing down Shigaraki was the beneficial thing. It wasn’t to destroy his quirks entirely but to make it so they have to regenerate.

AFO was never on hurry on something he was not worry about the heros findings put his secret place , all he could have did was wait months before Shigiraki meat suit was ready.
Plus he could have easily replaced all his destroyed Quirks he got a whole army of Quirks also nomus.
He could have steal or stack on regeneration Quirks (yes he can stack multiple Quirks of the same nature) I mean all he needed is 6 regenerative Quirks stack on top of each other.

They didn’t show a funeral, and they didn’t get over her death quickly Mina says smth abt it in a few episodes later like “I can’t lose anyone else” referencing to midnight. They were sad since she would come to UA and teach them sometimes

I think in the end the heroes deserved a happy end and i feel killing off a hero this close to the end would be more shock factor than giving a reason for their death
That still doesn't change the fact there's 0 stakes or consequences. We have Toga dying from a blood transfusion yet Kido and Onima survived incineration, Edgeshot became a worm and lived and even Gran Torino was punched through the chest by Shiggy (prime All Might strength) yet somehow lived.
You don't write a war but then only dish out death to the villains, thats trash writing and a clear case of too much plot armor, the way some of these hero's survived made zero sense.

Potentially unpopular opinion but I think Bakugo sacrificing himself for Deku would’ve hit hard and been a good death and end for the character. Bakugo starts the series bullying him for being quirkless and if I recall correctly was the one who originally called him Deku and just flat out bullied him in general. So for him to die with this Idea that he was saving his friend or even best friend would’ve hit hard for Deku and could’ve been used to have Deku mentally ready himself to risk himself and one for all giving everything he has. Maybe not a popular idea but still just someone cause I mean even Neji died in Naruto even though the death was totally avoidable cause he didn’t need to shield them cause Naruto could’ve totally stopped it and saved Hinata.

I understand MHA is supposed to be a lighter tone than that but it just feels we got cheated when they call it a war ark but everyone who gets taken out is just really injured. Nothing felt impactful or had any weight to it.

For how short the epilogue after the war is I think either way would have been dissatisfying. This one leaves us with a feeling of "how did no one die now when so many did the last time and this time was more stacked against the heroes?" but at the same time if one off them had died we'd never get the chance to get a conclusion for them, no grieving no reaching acceptance over the loss, and if we were to get that then we wouldn't have space to see the ones who live get this happy ending it would get derailed or majorly cut down to give room for the deaths to be handled.
As it stands we only get Toga, a villain, who is really only missed by Ochako (I'm sure Spinner and the rest of LoV misses her too but we don't get that kind of focus on them) and on this smaller scale we do get something of a conclusion to Toga's passing. And when it comes to Shigaraki the final fight is the grieving and acceptance for his death AND we get the chance to see what impression he left behind both for the general public and Spinner. I think both off these deaths were handled extremely well and really showed off everything you would want to see if a major character dies.
But had there been a bunch of heroes tacked on to the death counter? Not only would Shigaraki and Toga's deaths get overshadowed by the wider world of MHA the characters we hear from would have other priorities. If one off the classmates died or one of the kids favorite heroes we would have seen a very distraught and somber end to everything and none of the deaths would have been given as much limelight as it'd need to turn the ending truly hopeful in the limited chapters the epilogue has.
So while I agree that the ending we're getting is another kind of bittersweet I like it better than the alternative because this one resolves the deaths we did have in a good way and ties up the lose ends in a way where the ending can be happy and hopeful and shows us a good future for these characters even though the series will be over and we won't see it.
Spinner will learn that all the league of villains are dead and he will tell Mr Compress that he and him are the only 2 left as Mr Compress will cry for their deaths once they’ve reunited at prison and he’ll also tell Re Destro, Geten, Trumpet and Skeptic too

@@Rjay0922 Yes! They will learn of it and they will mourn maybe even plot, who knows with some off them. The story of the characters that lived isn't over but with one chapter left (I believe) the rest will be up to fans to show the world.
@@SaraAson Don't forget we need the execution for Dr Garaki and Overhaul too like Dr Garaki will mourns for the deaths of AFO and last 6 Nomus but the cops will most likely put him into death row for all everything he has done especially made Shirakumo into Kurogiri and the boss says to Overhaul that he'll keep scolding him until he dies by going to hell and Overhaul will cry even worst when he's about to get what's coming to him by getting death row as the boss with silent angry determined face just watches him die along with audiences
It's lazy writing after building up the stakes. The only ones who lost were the villains, the problems that led to them still exist the concept of hope for a better future is a cop out after so many wretched deaths on the losing side.
Though I am glad Bakugo lived.
i mean it just follows a traditional shonen way, and thou to some degree agree its not like heros had zero damage. Deku lost OFA, endeavor and all might is disabled, with bakugou partialy, hawks lost his quirk, jirou lost her ear and more. in this war for most heros death was the easy way out for their problems mostly endeavor who will despite his amazing redemption suffer from his mistakes as dabi will seemingly die offscreen(there is more but this comment will be to long). the one hero i wished died was best jeanist since bro is such a chad and seeing his death would be crazy. thou since he my top 5 fav happy he lived. Also i think also there is a small chance horikoshi is just scared of his fans since he would get acctual death threats . feel bad for him
I really would rather believe Horikoshi kept his story intact rather than rewrite parts out of fear.

Yes but there is such thing as too much death. It’s why I dislike shows like AOT you can’t get attached to their characters while I can’t say for sure (I’m not finished with the final battle). Lack of death doesn’t always mean plot armor. It can but their are cases were it’s down right.

The reason is the students were pushing for a total victory. It was triumphant. A hero to two dying we’d forget. You may be upset that everyone lived, but this new gen pulled off total victory against all odds and that’s the main point
And especially in the cases of Uraraka and Deku, by doing it the hard way and trying to save the villains.

I would be totally up for a sequel that follows a new character that eventually becomes a new symbol of peace despite one for all now being lost. Maybe a hero that just has their own overpowered quirk. Wouldn’t mind it being a heroine for a change either. Kind of like spiritual successor of Nana Shimura that gets taught by old All Might and almost quirkless Deku or something like that.
It just makes it feel like there were no stakes. Imagine reaching final conclusion and I'm NOT at the edge of my seat because I'm not worried about any of the characters

What I mean is like think of Dragon ball Super(specifically Super), most of the Z Fighters have retired and the main guys to fight are Goku and Vegeta. Nowadays, the villains they fight are capable of the destroying the universe and since they are the only ones still fighting, they can’t lose otherwise the show is over, get it?
TLDR; Basically, for shows like these, if the stakes are too high, there are no stakes because otherwise the world is doomed and the show is over

i do agree that there should have death on the heroes side like bakugo , endeavor, edgeshot, hawks, best jeanist, ayoyama etc because it did feel like a liitle to easy that all heroes made it alive and there should have been more a challenge for the heroes to win and make it home after everything is said and done

Me too! There was a lot of risk and a cluster of major injuries, so I'm glad none of the heroes died.
Something that Bakugo said during the training session between class and 1A and 1B stands out. He wanted a “complete victory” where none of his teammates got captured. He took the same mentality when All Might fought AFO and saved him. All Might was beloved because he was the hero that saved every and anyone, despite the circumstances.
When All Might fought AFO earlier in the series, he won but the people lost their symbol of peace.
The final war arc was a complete victory for the heroes and the people feel safe again.
May Midnight rest in peace she was one of the best pros to ever be❤️

I think the war was more based over the villains death and loss of major factors as Deku’s quirk or what happened to Bakugo’s arm more than death. I feel that the lore would be affected drastically if someone died over the war and won’t make it just right.
Personally I hate when everyone dies near the end or they end up destroying something like how aot titans or in star vs force of evil magic I hate when they destroy what made them special when it’s over or everyone just is gone at the end

I believe either bakugo or all might should have died bakugo so that it gives stakes to show no one is safe and it could give deku development to decide whether he wants to avenge bakugo or still save shigaraki and as for all might i believe that if he died it would be fuel for bakugo resove to beat all for one giving him the push to destroy his body like he did giving him stakes that the arc needed
honestly I think its more most of these heros lives are basicly ruined after the war. Majority of them cant even do their job and thus could end up homeless or poor or just in a bad state of living. heck bakugo nearly had to pay his whole future of being a hero if he wasnt so dedicated to continueing despite his arm being in horrible shape
I'm pretty happy with the decision of not killing a single hero, it's the end and people expect that, however after a very dark period for the heroes they finally managed to take the win and provided a future where they can rest and take some time off
The series is ending and I'm happy to think about my favorite characters getting to be happy after all this instead of having some of them being death just for shock value

I definitely purely don’t think any of the kids should’ve died the whole purpose was to give them a future and righting the wrongs of the past. I was a little upset Almight somehow made it through not that I wanted him to die but if they had to make some big tragedy that would’ve been the perfect character to do so especially because they basically crapped all over Nighteye’s quirk. I’m happy everyone lived. I hope there will be a prequel and a sequel

Deaths of characters should go along with their themes and arcs so if there is no real building of their death then killing a character would be only to get the stakes higher and that was not necessary. The main message of mha is that teamwork is necessary to progress and to live better and if that is what every hero is doing then they should not get punished for it

Truthfully the only worthwhile named hero that was lost and will most definitely be missed is midnight. Nobody else of significant importance died. I do believe it's bit of a cop-out that all of the heroes made it out alive, but also even more questionable that all the students came out relatively unscathed.

I feel it's unfair how Toga died of giving Ochako all her blood, but Dabi got burned alive, Bakugo lost his heart?? Edgeshot is a worm, and many others got major injuries. But HIMIKO DIED FOR JUST LOOSING BLOOD.

There may not have been deaths on the heroes side. But many heros are suffering a faith worst than death. Like Endeavor stated that every day his life will be hell. As he has the media to face for himself and his family, as well as having to watch his son gradually die. He is burnt from head to toe and is missing limbs. And is still trying to make it up to his family in every way possible. Personally that’s worst than death if u ask me cuz this dude will be living hell for the rest of his life
So what? This arc still was super interesting.

It will feel kind of better if we lost some of the students & Pro Heroes in the Final War Arc.
Having important characters die in the last fight without good reasoning besides "Oh but we need someone to die for the reactions or the body count can't be zero" is one of my pet peeves. If I wanted a senseless tragedy, I would go see Shakespeare.

Toga, Kurogiri, and Shigaraki died, Dabi and Spinner are imprisoned for life, we don’t know what happened to Gigantomachia. These guys deserved a better ending or maybe a spinoff or sequel series

I actually like this kind of ending as it potentially leaves an open end and potential spin offs where new heros emerge in an era where the old greats can mentor the new generation and can impart their experience both from the the events covered in the Manga and life outside as potential to be bigger

I would say it feels weird that none of the named Heroes or Students didn't die, but I don't think it's all bad or totally cop out. It's an open ending with a future path. Some of my favorite parts in MHA were showing how the world/ society is affected. It might be wishful thinking but who knows whats going to come of the book of Shigaraki.

To me if mirko would live at LEST , let eri regrow her limbs , they got first aid kit right in front of thier faces and yet not use it , her horn grown back and over the years of the stroy she should have gained control over her power to help mirko walk again.

The top heroes may not have died, but there were still losses. OFA, Hawk's Quirk and "Endeavors" death for example 😶🌫️

Hold up edgeshoot survived damn I thought he died to become bakugo's new heart and lungs nice to see he didn't actually die
I mean... we lost Midnight, but that was before the war. But yeah like atleast have Gran Torino Die, and some of the more important pro's to some of the main cast. Personally, I wish All For One managed to kill the principal, that would have been a tearjerker. Then at the end of the series All Might can take over the school as successor and grow the next generation of heros in a more hands on role now than he did in the dark through One For All. I dont agree with any of the students dying because that would be the best part... seeing how all the characters we watched through the series grow up. And as a side, not I wish toga would have lived. Like if Vlad King found Ochako and Toga, let Toga drink his blood, have her tranform into him and then save her with Vlad giving her enough blood to live.

i think Endeavor should have faced Dabi and died with him in a giant fire but it makes sense that the hero's wanted Endeavor to face the biggest threat: all for one

They could have all died for all I care honestly.. the only one I care about is Mirko! lol.. I’m so bummed that Mirko got literally ripped apart & became a breathing meat nugget covered in scars & shit essentially ha.. that sucks! Mirko was so damn fine! She was hot af, & cool/badass af too, & she just got ripped to shreds. Such a fucking shame honestly… I mean I’m glad she is still alive & didn’t outright die, but damn, she’s still mangled to hell & back. Albeit even in such a state though, still hot af lol. I guess the only other hero I cared about living or dying & was super bummed about though was Midnight dying as well.. once again, a total babe (third hottest after Mirko & Lady Nagant haha..) who was pretty cool too, & didn’t deserve to die, especially when so many other hero characters could have instead. Hell even Lady Nagant.. I mean sure she lived in the end, but got blown to hell & back, & is permanent fucked up now I think.. such a shame, also a top waifu of the series.. What the hell is up with Horikoshi always killing, mangling, disfiguring, or permanently fucking up all of the hottest girls/female characters of his series!? lol why bro!? Why do you do this!? We did lose a lot of people. We lost them in the first war. Trust me, killing people in the second would be overkill and a student dying, we find out who the traitor was 😂
