  • Let me provide yet another warning about the realities of Instagram. I digress, again. For those of you wondering why I do so many question-and-answer films the truth is they fit my schedule and timeline. They are simple to produce and they are simple to edit and deliver. Without further ado.
    1. 7:50, Do you feel pressure to post on CZcams?
    2. 11:40, What are your current Fuji motion settings?
    3. 13:16, Do you honestly recommend creating a website or blog with a view of showing work in the future?
    4. 16:54, When making pictures, do you think about editing and sequencing or do you wait until later?
    5. 18:59, What has changed or improved since your "How to do long term projects?" film.
    6. 21:48, What is your advice about labeling your slides for achieve?
    7. 24:47, What does your year look like photographically, and what is the best vs worst-case scenario?
    8. 29:24, Do you have any resources that demystify photography and photojournalism? What do you think about education? What schools?

I want to say thanks for turning me on to Alec Soth in the last question. I went straight to his website. just finished his videos "real time vs. story time" and "The Photo Album" and they answer so many questions along the lines of sequencing, simplifying and time, especially the use of triptychs to express passage of time. Great stuff and I love his laid back humble approach. We are all about the same age. So getting back to the pre-internet/soc media photo album format is something I appreciate along with the DIY hand made, not published book making. Thanks again, keep it coming

After watching the most popular YT photography channels for years, I realized that theres something sneakily wrong with most of em.
Most are full of affiliate links.
Many invite you pay them money via Patreon.
Many do it indirectly by asking strangers to buy them coffee.
I know many who actually borrow or use X100V or GR3 that do not belong to them, and their motive is just to create videos of such hyped-up products because they know theres a very high viewership of videos of such over-hyped products.
If you look into the non-English photography sites of other non-English speaking countries, such cameras are never over-hyped to such extent. It reminds me of Glock pistols and Benelli shotguns😂 Such is the immense power of American media.
Today, i hv stopped watching such marketing garbage, and confine myself to only your channel and that of Mitchell Kanishkevich. Only 2 channels.
    Keep up the great work!

Great time spent hanging here with you. I have to say for the heck of it - there is a benefit to shooting raw+jpeg and it may actually surprise you how helpful the jpeg is in some situations as a reference file. I mention that since you can tailor the jpeg to the shooting style you may feel like in the moment - while of course having the raw to change to the feeling you have anytime after in the remaining history of humanity. Shooting the jpeg in Acros+red filter gives a different feel than Astia than Eterna. Eterna is nice if you seek to see in that F-Log feel. You will also see the lens corrections in the jpeg whereas you miss them in raw. Anyway just my 7 cents.

This is the white elephant. I have a call on Tuesday of this coming week. A call with both photographers and archivists attempting to figure out a path. Any photographer who says "I have a great system," I would be skeptical. In my experience they are either delusional or they just don't know. This is one reason why so many photogs shoot Jpeg or just save a handful of images from a shoot. They know they can't sustain that data over time. Plus, these folks don't know about licensing and the value of imagery over time. You hear "Oh, that's how it worked in the old days but not now." Again, these are just out of touch snappers who don't know this is how many people survive after their shooting career is over. I just get a request for images from eight years ago. Boom, had them edited and transmitted same day.

As a non-American, the first time I heard the silly term “Every Day Carry” was in the early 90s, in American gun magazines, where it was a trend to show which of your firearms are “on your body” everyday. Probably a HKP7 + a not-cheap Emerson CQC7😂
To me, it was a hilariously Neanderthal culture. Were these Neanderthals living in the forest or are they trapped in a violent war zone? 😂🤣
Fast forward to 2020, the same silly term EDC started to appear in YT’s “cameratology”/photogear-obsessed videos.
IMO, its a trend that captivates those who want to be seen as being masculine, outdoor-sy, financially-able, and trendy. Whats the use of a leftist liberal hipster bringing along an over-priced pocket knife and over-priced China-made flashlight to his usual Starbucks ?😂
IMO, this child-like behaviour might also be practiced by such people who’re doing it only for video purposes to hope of becoming a paid advertising platform via attracting the attention of mftrs of over-priced bags, pouches, pocket knives, LED mini torches etc😂.
And I think many of such EDC salesmen on YT are actually unemployed American Anglos with too much time.
Its actually part of the American “Bragging Rights” sub-culture. The love to show-off.
And the shamelessly childish “Fake It Till You Make It” mentality.
    Narcissistic society.

Look, I'm not here to tell anyone what to do. Well, okay, sometimes. For me it's not about money. I watched FB and Instagram destroy friends and family alike. I saw it radicalize family members and friends and I watched it destroy a lot of good creatives. I also watched what Zuckerberg and the crew were doing. Mainly, lying to congress, lying to the public, lying to the users and all in the name of total greed. I can make money in a lot of ways. I don't want anything to do with that group. I had a friend who used to sell narcotics. Technically, what he was selling was a specific drug that at the time was technically legal to sell but the government had put a deadline on the calendars for dealers. At this point...it will no longer be legal and we are coming for you. My friend knew it. He also knew the destruction he was leaving in his wake. The addicts, the crime, the human destruction. We spoke about it. He had a Porsche. He had money. He had the stunning girlfriend. But he was haunted. To some degree, this is how I felt. There is also another situation happening. The IG community when it comes to money is like the wild west, an arms race. I see users with zero talent asking for and getting big money from brands. But what's happening is the return is falling off and falling off FAST. My advice, have a Plan B because when the bottom falls out it will fall fast. Again, I'm not saying you need to believe, just sharing.
